Iris, how you shallow breathe in winter
shiver under clouds, laid in a bed decayed and brown
days of cold in a garden underground
long through winter
and spring only ever waiting
to unfurl the color blue of you.
The sweet smell of
         smoke rising
            eyes glossing
              mood swinging
          focus weaving
       attendance falling
development arresting
   high school dropping
in our country's acquiring
teenage wasteland.
I'm sure I'm in the minority on this one, but I see it every day. One of the hardest parts of being a teacher.

Lunar
is the love that would bloom to its fullest
when nobody gets left behind
in Hawaiian, it means 'family'
in Japanese, it means 'the beginning of a flower'

A  melting igneous rock the size of a fist, he thought at first,
kind of red, faded a bit , resembles mud, somewhat,
something familiar, it reminded, then what, it could be?
melting ice, it now seemed, but  blood oozes, or just paint?
Still he couldn't figure out what; then the shape, came to focus.
It struck him hard now "Öh! my God!" he felt like losing
his breath, how could one forget!  heartless is this world!

Bask in the joy of our hearts
Not in the absence of our bodies
For our souls remain as one
