You always were the light of my life,
My helper when ever I faced strife.

Too soon gone, much to my sorrow,
Won't see you again until tomorrow.

When the stars in the sky twinkle above,
I just know it's you sending your love.

There's a whole in my life that can never be filled,
And a pain in my heart that can never be stilled.
As the shape all sun
tore up the curtain
of blood and ululation,
everything in Tunisia,
as stricken by a wand,
came to a standstill,
and slipped away
from the senses -
Even rivers stopped.

Medjerda* froze
halfway
through the descent
to his destination,
as he realized
he’d been making a fatal error:
pouring forth all his passion
into the ocean.

So he stopped,
retracted his course,
re-collected himself,
and started flowing backward,
toward
the source
in the Atlas
that had bidden him
farewell.

In his spear head
there was a design:
start a new chaos
in the valley,
in which there would be
a sweet-water lake
and sailors drunk
with sunbeams, sweat
and pleasure.
Butterflies would flutter
around the scent of mint
and bluegreen rosemary.
Sweet Moon to Sweet Lake
would come, unannounced,
In the rays of the nightlight
of the fluttering night
to watch her self
shoot
the scene
of representation.

The river, now swimming
in his own water,
carried the sky on his shoulder,
while an ant and a grasshopper,
holding a basket together,
watched the new scene.

As the figure all sun appeared ,
reason melted;
imagination
her hazel eyes opened.

countless voices
cry to life
the giver
seeking, begging
give us
'more, more
and yet more',
till they hear
life saying,
'I shall give
when I receive'.

between life and death
life stares
and so do we
silence and sound
we ask each other
' what did we give?'

Ma Cherie
I can see you with your wings
That the Angels gave to you
I can see you with the scars
         in a crimson shaded hue

I can see you have your wings
           I think I always could
       You always were an angel
          I thought you understood

I can see you flying high
     soaring eagle scout from God
         gliding past my house
        with a fluted piping nod

         Soar out to the glaciers
       to the highest angel nest
  you've earned your lovely wings
just like Michael and the rest

I see you have my wings
     They're waiting in your hand
a song for me you sing
         so glorious and grand
     it's almost like you planned
         your hourglass of sand
             was running out

you see I have my ring
         my angel from above
and while you have your wings
        My finger wears your love

One day I'll take wing too
to heavens gate I will fly
         no longer burning pain
         no longer tears to cry
                    until then
          we have this love

those wings will have to wait
       I already tried to ask
    no answer came from Fate
   shaded feathers my love basks

I hope you take your wings
and fly places you want to go
So when I get my wings
         those places you can show
         our destiny you'll know

until then....prepare a place for me.

Thumping heartbeats a quickened pulse
the river rising in full spate
rushing gush of blood, a fountain
of words leave a would be poets lips
as they drown in the depths together
the words and the poet unable to swim
a last gasp of bubbled air set free
rises to the surface, and bursts its skin.

its your pulse
a rhythm you drum on the air
vibrates my heart, a fluttering bird
set free to love and love again
its your pulse
a rhythm on the page.
