One Summer Night
Mohd Arshad Feb 2014
One summer night in a library
The moonlight was penetrating from the sky
The wind was playing outside and inside
The books out of their homes gleamed
The pages were the fluttering butterflies
A little sound was there no mortal cries
From a shelf a holy book skipped down
Clothes were rugged, skin brown
"I am here at rest on the bed."  Said she "unsolicited.
They come; speak to you, I am elided.
You are always jovial and no despair.
New birth you take , of death no fear.
Have they forgotten who look after me?
It is He who made the hills and the sea.
I don't need their care, their heed.
They do me to themselves better feed.
I am the only ship to take them heaven
To enjoy his blessings, to sorrows shun."

A. W. MARRIAGE
Mohd Arshad Oct 2018
The beauty of the girl
Doesn't enamour me

Nor her pink and purple skirt
I get into the room

Of her conduct and character
And see if its walls are properly painted

I don't want to know
What language or accent she indulges in

What worthy words she utters
Grab my heart and mind

Marriage doesn't hinge on
The hue of her golden braids

Nor it's a bed of roses
By virtue of her charming gate

It's the confluence of two rivers
Flowing into each other happily

Grandfather
Mohd Arshad Sep 2014
Grandfather sat on  the chair,
now it rolls empty.

his words for your errors
fly in the garden yonder.

where is he now,
speaking through eternity?

can you fill the chair again?
can you make him stand in the field?

can you catch the time and clasp with your palms?
can you chain the time to fulfil your dreams?

value the things at the present moment
before they make their way to dust.

Abandoned
Mohd Arshad Jun 2017
In the death of light
Leave a poem alone

After years
Go back to see it
And don't fear
Like a mother
It will set you thinking
You had dropped it minutes back
Poem doesn't die
Like a leaf, abandoned
In the ground
Or on concretes
And does not have destiny
Like that of a crumpled papper
In a stinking dustbin
Or on heaps of scrapes
Each moment
It emits aroma
And you hug it
Throughout your life
And feel happier
And much blessed

And have the light!

On Humiliation
Mohd Arshad Oct 2017
Catching humiliation
Is grasping the hot spoon
In the kitchen,
And you're alone that time,
And your cry carries
No sigh to your neighbours!
It's receiving the bruises
On your thumb
While going down the stairs
In a hurry to appear
in the entrance exam,
And you have to drop it
As you are unable
To hold the pen properly!
When it strikes on the toe
You have to stay back
In the house
As coming out
Is like jumping on the floor
Beset with pebbles!
Everywhere it is,
And like a snake
In the bathroom,
It hisses at your fear
And you only feel the pain
Because you find yourself
Incapable of removing it
The very moment!
Finally it impersonates the ghost
That keeps haunting you
During your sleep
For Swan days!

This Is Something Delicate
Mohd Arshad Sep 2014
Have you ever forgiven
a thief-like moth
that pilfered smoothness
of your cheeks,
and it was ebullient
to get acquitted of being
sentenced to death?

have you ever forgiven
a black-velvet-fur cat
that, in your absence,
drank volumes of milk
and you thanked God only
for the uninvited guest?

have you ever forgiven
a little child that made fun
of your cheerfulness
and you let him play
in your orchard?

I have celebrated this
along with my family,
and only one thing I know
this is something delicate.

This Is Life We Made So
Mohd Arshad Feb 2015
Listen
The morning plays upon the flute
Taste
The breakfast is stodgy
Listen
The afternoon rhymes symphony
Taste
The lunch is salty and a little bit pungent
See
The twilight displays golden canopy
Taste
The dinner is sumptuous
See
The comfy and velvet beds unfold
See
The night has opened its shimmering umbrella
Things are beautiful
And they are as we want them
But we are not as we must be
Together at a ball
No smile passes
Lips open to *****
Not to sympathy
To water
Not to soft words
To coldrink
Not to hospitality
To lemonade
Not to sorry
The people search for the mirror
To see their image
They will not tell you
Your pen has splotched
No need to be bothered
This is life
We made it so!

A.. March.. Differences
Mohd Arshad Feb 2018
I am worried.
Differences are new members
And living cozily in each family.

No one is quibbling
About their ill nature and behaviour.

All are smug.

At dust,
They go out and Indulge in backbiting.
Abuses are dispatched at the right addresses.
Praises are paid duly for the work.

I think I must be vigilant.
Any of them can visit my home.

I am anxious.
We hail the guest heartily.

Last day,
They tore away one bond.

How long will they survive?
Everyone must ponder over their presence.

Two Boys
Mohd Arshad May 2014
Two boys
Black and white
Played in a garden
Under the tree
They sat and slept
The breeze fanned them
As the afternoon
Slipped from the field
They collected their things
To go back home
At twilight
The clouds made
A white canopy
And the rain showered
Down their bodies
They sloshed water
In the pools
Walked and ran
And bade adieu
With love in their bosoms
And promises in eyes
To be united again
In the lap of nature
And away from
Kaleidoscope of their elders

Death of My Cat
Mohd Arshad Feb 2015
She was there
At her customary place!
Milk on whiskers
And words closed in a paper,
And yet expressions
Were burning in her cold eyes
Which had frozen
The scenes of my house, now blurred!
Dol of my children,
Crow for my father,
And between them
A little queen in her cradle in a palace!
Who will knock at the door
To seek my hospitality?
Her progeny?
Heaven had not made her groom!
O my guest!
I will see you among them,
Though I cant say:
Take more its for you!
The play! The outing! The shopping!
Of my family everythingMay you sleep in peace!
May you dance in my eyes!

Watch the rise of splendour
.                              after its walls collapse into the main
.           and folds of waves absorb them!
.                                   it is their confidence,
their faith in the coming dawn
that give them a new day,
a new life to their dream!
And you? Where is your confidence?
Look into yourself,
Bury yesterday, it is only pain
                                                     and pain emaciates your strength!
Built a new bridge
where your hope will walk at ease
And it will lead to your dreamland
for today is your only birth
