I am the blood of Abel
That cried out to God
From the ground.
Once there was a time
When Abel was living
And able to speak on his own behalf.
That day Abel had to give an offering
To God
Cain, my brother did this
But what he did to me was not familial

Also had to give an offering to our God.
But Cain always seemed angry at God.
He told me one time that God did not love him.
I said that he was being foolish.
God loves us all.
That is why He wants to talk to us.
Cain said, Do I have to talk to God.
I would rather talk to the serpent
At least he fed Mom and Dad.
I was horrified and left.
I never met the serpent.
But he was the reason Mom and Dad
Could no longer stay in the garden
I wondered if Cain had talked to the serpent
But I did not dare ask

I took the finest animals for the sacrifice.
Just like Dad told me to.
Just as Dad taught me to.
I wanted to see the favor of God.
Because I knew one day the Promise would come.
It took time and effort.
The animals were heavy and soaked.
But as last I had the animals ready
For the sacrifice.
Dad would be so proud if he was here.

Cain had his sacrifice ready too.
But it looked, wrong.
That was not the way God said
Or the way Dad taught us.
I hoped God would accept it.
Cain looked with a smirk on his face.
And said that this was the new way to sacrifice.
God looked on my sacrifice with a smile on his face.
I felt blessed.
But with Cain’s sacrifice
I saw a look I had not seen before.
It looked the way Mom said God looked
When he caught them eating the forbidden fruit.
I felt sorry for Cain.
Cain did not look sorry for himself.
Cain walked out angry.
I wanted to chase after him
But I thought better of it
This is best left as a conversation between God and Cain

Later, Cain told me to come, come.
He had a sense of urgency in his voice.
I rushed over.
I saw Cain with a rock in his hands
He held it with two hands
But there was no sacrifice
He came toward me
And raised the rock
I shouted, Cain!
Then I began to speak from the ground.
On this ground they call it ******
And God is my witness.

I sometimes wondered about the hand that I was given.
But God reached out to me in the pit of the land of the living.
I felt like I was wrestling, but I felt even more my hurt hip.
God said that you have prevailed, when I thought my worth slipped.
Because when I saw him I thought it was another fight, we wrestled all night.
When the dawn came God said let me go, but I thought that would not be right.
So I told God to his face, I would not let go unless you bless me,
He said, Your name is changed to my nation, my happiness where your stress be.
I walked with a limp, but I also walk now with a purpose.
Who would have thought that God could sit on my waters surface.
I asked what is your name, and He replied Don’t worry.
I searched for God all my life but He was not in a hurry.
But he called me by name, so I went back with the breakthrough.
Because since God can empower me, He surely can make you!

God took out the blood so I could live, but this was no leeching
I was slow speaking but now I can stand up to go preaching.
I was in a cell, but God’s cross was brought to cross, and not a loss.
When God threw a coin in the air it was all a head so I won the coin toss.
Because he said I had to become a featured male, not be the tail, or see the jail.
God could not imagine the thought so he came to save me from hell.
So now I have become free, my currency is God and not money.
Man should not live by bread alone, but he will not be hungry.
God will send his angels to be by his side after the temptations.
Christ has called us to be his bride and speak to the nations.

My cousin came to my house
And stayed after Thanksgiving
I thought that Thanksgiving food was enough
Boy, was I wrong.
He woke me up at noon
At noon.
Didn’t he know I had to sleep off the Thanksgiving meal?
And he said
As if I should have known.
Could you get me the cheeseburger pizza salad slice?
I replied, From where?
Who would have such a concoction?

But I knew him.
He would be the type
To ask for a cheesy gordita crunch taco from Burger King
And look at their confusion with his own puzzlement.
Then when they told him, we don’t serve that.
He would reply, It’s okay, I have the recipe
I can tell you how it is made.
So I get up and put on my coat.
And gloves.
Because I don’t want grease all over me
And start to walk.

And just my luck
The first snow of the season starts.
Not heavy enough for me to turn back
Just enough snow to turn it into an experience
That made me wish I would have slept upstairs
In the closet
So my cousin could not find me.
Its like the Making the Band 2 show
When Puff Daddy tells them
That he wants cheesecake in a different borough.
So I guess my cousin’s Puffy now.
He said he was into producing….

I get to the pizza place
And tell them what my cousin wants
But it took me three tries to get it all out.
They said, I’m sorry, but we don’t have the cheeseburger pizza salad slice
But we have the chicken pizza salad slice
I said Good enough
I’m sure my cousin would be happy
I would regret those words
I brought the pizza home.
And told him that I got it.
He seemed happy
Until he saw that the meat was chicken
Not cow.

He asked me
Had the audacity to ask
Couldn’t they remove the chicken
And put hamburger meat?
I tried to tell him, That is not how it works
They don’t respect your recipes
They have their own
What is the difference?
He then pointed at the pizza and said
Chicken goes on burgers
It does not go on pizza!
I was stunned into silence
By that logic
I don’t know how cheeseburger and pizza go together.
I told him I would eat it for lunch
So at least one of us was satisfied.
The other had his own ideas
But couldn’t find a store to cook them.

The man strides to the stage but his words are not just another speech.
In the crowd he hears a voice, singing “Go on Brother, preach!”
She also sees that heaven told him the right moment is this here.
He see a familiar face, her eyes reflect both hope and despair.
Ears reaching to hear him, a mouth that curves upward at his words.
The lines under her eyes match the lines over his paper surface
He looks on with bemused eyes when the cameras tape her nerves.
Both her lines and his eyes understand the nature of the struggle.
He remembers walking around in the night, collecting his thoughts for a dream.
Today his spirit is a bridge over still waters, but yesterday was not so serene.
Every word weighted as worthy because it will be caught on the screen.
Eyes on the camera, he tells himself as hands grasp the lectern and it feels strong..
The same man who said that America itself has guided missiles wrong.
Looks inside to see how America can guide itself right
Thinking to himself, I gotta bring these people to church.
Back to the home I was raised, back to the place of our birth.
He clears his throat, the voice has to be made ready for so dear a show.
Then he cries out with his mouth, those sacred words, “ Fivescore years ago………”

I am David
I saw my father, up in the distance.
He was coming with my older brothers and an old man.
The old man looked familiar
Although I did not know who he was.
I thought all of this was very strange.
Normally my father did not come to the fields.
One of my older brothers did.
And sometimes they would taunt me.
Saying, David you are just a shepherd.
Go take your slingand protect the lambs
That you would never eat come feast time.
The words stung me.
But I never cried.
I would not, could not, ever let them see tears in my eyes.
Even though there were wounds that mocked me every day.

The old man approached me.
I saw a sword on him
It was covered in blood.
I did not ask why he had a sword.
He must have been a mighty man in his youth.
Then he told me, I am Samuel
Samuel, the prophet of the nation.
Samuel, the seer to the king.
Samuel, the man who anointed Saul.
The king and father of Jonathan.
When I was out in the fields.
I would pretend to be Jonathan’s armor-bearer.
Although when I brought up the topic excited with Eliab.
He sneered, Armor-bearers don’t have slings.
And they have armor.
You have no armor, so don’t call yourself that.
That did not stop me.

When a bear came to take a lamb.
I rose up.
Angry.
It was bad enough I had to be out here
Alone.
Watching sheep when no one cared for me.
But this bear cannot take a lamb
Because then I would be the disgrace of the family.
I took my sling
And found a stone.
It was smooth, good for flight.
And the bear charged.
Amazing enough, I felt no fear.
I said, A sling for the Lord and David.
I hit the bear.
The bear kept on coming.
I readied my staff, prepared to do the worse.
But the bear collapsed and died not too far from me, about a body’s length away.
I turned and walked away.
Knowing that if I told my brothers, they would not believe me.
They would mock, How can we know your word is true
When none of the lambs were touched.
So I kept quiet.
So I keep silent.

My father thought I would be a good musician.
He said, Eliab will lead our family in war
While David plays the music of our people.
He got a lyre from the village.
And I began to play.
My hands connected with the lyre’s heart.
And soon I began to sing.
I thought that it was good, so I began to write it down.
Songs to my Lord.
Songs about protection from bears.
And Songs about one day being noticed for who I am.
And not the youngest of my family.

Samuel told me to kneel.
Could it be?
I dare not hope to think.
After all a servant told me there was a ritual feast at home.
A feast that I was not invited.
Because Eliab yelled at the servant, Then who would guard the lambs!
We need the servants to serve us and Prophet.
I knelt down on the hard surface.
I then felt, oil.
I had never felt oil on my head before.
A little got into my eyes and I blinked fast.
Then the oil trickled down my lips and onto my garment.
Prophet then proclaimed Long live the King.
King?
I saw Eliab scowling with rage.
But I smiled, satisfied.
I would be the king after Jonathan.

Lady of the Night came down with the Parisia bow to join the fight.
And kept firing at Achilles, who brushed them off as if they were slight.
Suddenly Achilles grabbed the Alliance Project, and took a knife and dug it into his side.
The Alliance Project refused to cry out, because he had too much pride.
Message took her Fire Lance and aimed it at Achilles head.
Achilles warned, One wrong move and your lover man is dead.
Message pointed the Fire-Lance with her hand shaking at The Alliance Project.
She thought of putting him out of his misery, but she hated that prospect.
Lady of the Night screamed out, Don’t fall for it Message, he mastered psychological warfare.
Message’s mind went back to the days when she and the Alliance Project were together, and she teased him about his grey her.
Achilles cried out, You want to fight me with my own weapon, but do you want your lover to live
Choose life for him for now, and hand over my lance spear as a gift to give
Otherwise I will detach him from himself, and it would be such a tragedy
That the one who loved him watched him die in such wretched agony.
Lady of the Night retorted, If The Alliance Project has to die, he knew what he joined.
Message went down on one knee and whimpered, He does not have to die, otherwise what is the point?
She pointed the Fire Lance at the Alliance Project trembling, then handed it to Achilles too.
Achilles then laughed and threw the Alliance Project at them, who said before fainting I will **** you.
Achilles attached the Nike Sling to the Winged Fire Lance, to make the Demihim Spear.
Message and Lady of the Night looked at each other, and knew they had to leave here.
They picked the Alliance Project off the ground and when they got back, gave him to Breastplate-Bearer
But Message cried out, Who in this universe is strong enough to stop Achilles and his reign of terror?
The Covenantial Project said over the intercom, We must go to Avalon, and wake from slumber Arthur.
Otherwise with Achilles and Vibrate, we will all just be targets for the slaughter.

Breastplate-Bearer was working to heal The Alliance Project while Message and Lady of the Night went to Avalon.
Lady of the Night said to Message, I used to read Camelot as a little girl, and the knights I thought I would marry one.
Message laughed and said, You do not strike me as being a damsel in distress for a knight to save.
You would be the one to fight the monster on the Knight’s behalf, because you are too brave.
Lady of the Night blushed, but then the Isotrain Mechanism stopped the location.
Message pulled out a map and said, If I wanted to bury a king, where would I bury one.
Suddenly they saw a cave, and then they went inside to take a look.
Hoping that Arthur was not just a fiction character in Old English books.
They entered the cave and marveled at all the cave drawings.
Showing men seated around a table, with their names inscribed on chairs therein.
Message tripped over something and Lady of the Night laughed and said, Watch your step.

They both looked down and saw King Arthur, or rather what was left.
Message asked, What does your books say we do now with his body.
Lady of the Night scratched her head and said, I did not get to that part, oddly.
But I think if we bring it to the waters where the Lady of the Lake is she can help.
Message said You can bring his slimy body to these waters, speak for yourself.
So they carried King Arthur’s body on their shoulders, hoping not to be seen.
Across to where the Lady of the Lake was supposed to be, and the waters were serene.
We have your king! Message shouted, and Lady of the Night murmured, That is not the way to call.
We must show that we are worthy to serve King Arthur, or he will not come at all.
Lady of the Night looked down below and said, Woman to Woman, only we can save mankind.
Lady of the Lake rose up with Excalibur from the waters and said, That is what I can stand behind.
Put Excalibur into his hands, and he will soon awake from his slept slumber.
I am glad someone came after all these years, his death was a bad summer.
Message and Lady of the Night tried to put Excalibur into Arthur’s hands, but it would not grab.
Message finally cried out, I have an idea, and placed the blade into his fingers, hoping it would scab.
Arthur came to live and coughed, he looked at his blade and said, Caliburn is forever mine.
Message and Lady of the Night looked at each other smiling because they knew it was time.
They told Arthur he was The Templarist Project, the one who could **** Achilles with Excalibur.
Arthur said, Woe to this Achilles, I will deal with him justly as the one fated to **** him as a challenger.

I remember one time
There was a waiter who said to his boss
At a country club
Sir there is someone who is buying water
And refusing to leave
I asked them if they wanted hor d'oeuvres
They said they don’t speak Spanish
But they wanted to meet someone
And when I asked who they wanted to meet
They did not say his name.

The boss looked worried.
Oh no, it was one of those
The boss and the waiter approached the woman
And asked, Can we help you?
The woman pointed and said, I want to meet him!
He looks like he golfs because he wants to
Not because he has no knees
The boss leaned over and said Get out
Or else I will call security.
I have seen your type before.
This is the establishment where you pay by the plate.
And if you were with him, you would have arrived with him.
The woman protested.
But I need to meet someone important
I need to make connections!
She was taken out of the restaurant by security
I always wondered if she came back
And learned that a good trick would be to always buy a drink
Or better yet, actually learn the game of golf.

Someone asked me
How much was the sacrifice
I said, tearfully.
It costed everything
But if it wasn’t for this sacrifice
I would not be the man I am today
And if it was not this sacrifice
Some other part of me would have to leave
And that part I am sure I needed to live
Rather than giving up what I couldn’t live without.
Michael Kusi Jan 2018
I am a man of my word
But what happens
When there is no word
If we just meet.
How do you know my character
When characters have not been said or written.
Can character be formed?
Can my word be bond?
When we have not exchanged pleasantries.
I must strive to be the man you want to deal with
No the man you say did not even act like a man
But as a rascal.

So once words are spoken
They are bond
And I will be a man to them.
Adopt them as my own.
Raise them.
Take care of them.
And make sure that they are good.
I would not want to be a man of bad words.
A man to bad words.
Because then I will be a man condemned by bad words.

Message stood out in front, a target ready to lead the Federation.
She pointed her Winged Fire Lance forward, to defend without hesitation.
Dragon-Man and Lady of the Night ran to her, and took up a fighting stance.
While Breastplate-Bearer yelled out he would fix the Paroah chariot with his hands.
Vibrate on Frequenwave led the Netherbeasts towards these brave three.
And Dragon-Man pointed the Composti Crossbow at them as he looked gravely.
Suddenly Lady of the Night jumped into the throes of the Netherbeasts, and was swallowed by their midst.
Message yelled out, I’m coming Lady of the Night, you should not meet your end like this!
She did the Battlefare dance with the Winged Fire Lance and the Celestial Blade Saber.
All the while wondering if it was too early to die, and too late to be a Savior.
Lady of the Night was stabbed in the back by a Netherbeast horn, and began to lie.
She lay on the ground with a thud, and Message shrieked that every enemy must die.

Vibrate rode up to Dragon-Man, and they began a duel to the death.
But these two superpowers were evenly matched, and so soon had nothing left.
Vibrate grabbed the Composti Crossbow and crushed it in her hands with contempt.
She haughtily said, I am the Conquistador of Worlds, and yours is not exempt.
Dragon-Man stepped back, and realized that they would soon need reinforcements.
He pushed down on his watch to talk to Breastplate-Bearer, and a message to be sent.
Suddenly he could not breathe, and went down on his knees with the sea spinning there.
Vibrate shouting, See, I have cut off your air supply and now you will all die here.
Message was gasping for air, but instead getting in water in drowning.
The Frequenbeasts closed in so tight that soon they were surrounding.
Dragon-Man pushed himself on one forearm, and muttered to Message, Retreat.
It is best to save ourselves then for the Federation to go down in utter defeat.
Then Message and Dragon-Man fell down, and slowly started to fade away.
But Breastplate-Bearer picked up the transmission and knew he had to save the day.

Breastplate-Bearer launched himself from the Paroah Chariot, and yelled, Vibrate!
Did you forget about me, because I am the one who will seal your fate.
Vibrate told her Netherbeasts, Destroy this imbecile, I command thee
But this was the time Breastplate-Bearer’s skills came in most handy.
He destroyed them one by one, until the rest scattered and fled.
Then Breastplate-Bearer pushed a button on his watch to end the Grimchoke.
That Vibrate had put on Message and Dragon-Man, so that it was broke.
Message and Dragon-Man got up weakly, but Lady of the Night did not.
Breastplate-Bearer called down to them I will carry Lady of the Night to the chariot.
Because this doctor needs a soldier to put healing hands and restore her right
Message nodded, and Breastplate-Bearer brought up Lady of the Night.
Vibrate rose up on Frequenwave and sneered, I don’t need fancy tricks to fight.
I will take you both on, and my face would be the last you will ever see.

Message leaped off of Dragon-Man’s back, and brought the Celestial Blade Saber down.
Frenquenwave staggered for a moment, and then shook Vibrate to the ground.
He charged Message and Dragon-Man, and Message said to Dragon-Man, Throw.
I will give you the Winged Fire Lance so that you can toss it down below.
Dragon-Man held the Winged Fire-Lance and knew that he only had one chance.
When Frenquenwave was 15 feet away, he tossed it from his stance.
It hit Frenquenwave right in his shoulder, where the shield wasn’t and life was.
He fell to the ground suddenly, and all that was heard was a buzz.
Message screamed, Move out of the way, he will carry you with him.
But Dragon-Man did not step to the side, AND Frenquenwave moved Dragon-Man off the cliff.

Vibrate cackled, Now your friend is missing, that is a good exchange for Frenquenwave.
Now it is just you and me, and no one is around here so that you can be saved.
Message nodded grimly, and took out her Celestial Blade Saber as a swordman.
Remembering the most vital things of edged warfare, and forgetting the unimportant.
Message and Vibrate fought, and Message was shocked to feel blood on her headdress.
Then Vibrate gave a swip at her that if Message hadn’t ducked, she would be headless.
Message gave Vibrate a stab to the abdomen, or at least what Message thought was a belly.
But then Vibrate took the blade out of her, and shook her head saying This isn’t healthy.
For the first time, despair crossed Message’s face, because she wondered how to win.
Suddenly, the seas brightened, and The Covenantial Project arrived with the Federation.
The Covenantial Project called out,  Vibrate, you are under indictment for crimes against the universe.
Vibrate sneered, In order for me to be under your kangaroo court, you would have to catch me first!
She disappeared, and Message worried to The Covenantial Project, But what about Dragon-Man?
The Covenantial Project intoned, Frenquenwave took him to the Great Beyond, it kills who it touches hands.
Message shrieked and The Covenantial Project continued, We can go through a portal.
That renders whose who would die with the effects of being temporarily immortal.
The Paroah Chariot will not cut it, this is the Federation’s cause to fight.
Because we all must make sure, that Shark-Devil does not come up to the light.
Breastplate-Bearer meanwhile was still working to restore Lady of the Night.
So Message said, I will go with you The Covenantial Project to free Dragon-Man.
Because I am a leader, and no soldier of mine should die under my command.
Message and The Covenantial stepped through the Nebula Entrance, ready for war.
Little did they know Dragon-Man had to fight a battle he was not prepared for.
One was Frenquenwave, the other was hiding in the shadows waiting.
And Dragon-Man had to prevail soon, because this enemy was so patient.

Dialect and The Legate flew together in the darkness, silence was the moment.
So how did you get out of Dahomeyia, Dialect asked, and The Legate said, Atonement.
I knew I had to crown Message with the new Dahomeyian Rulership, hubris was in my breath.
Because I thought she deserved it after all the pain I had brought her through this death.
I went through the Great Beyond looking, but I could not find her in her presence.
But I felt in my heart she was there, even though she was trapped in an angry essence.
As I was traveling I saw a load with her inside unconscious, I pierced a hole to free.
Then I left before she would wake up, and know that it was me.
What will Message do when she sees you Dialect asked, and The Legate said I don’t care.
I am done wandering from Realmic Span to Realmic Span, I will make my last stand there.

The Nova Knights prepared to leave, and Dragon-Man dreaded that soon was his trial.
Then Message said, The door is locked, and Breastplate-Bearer no longer had a smile.
Shark-Devil called out in the darkness, Message, this should bring back memories.
Breastplate-Bearer said, We have to get out and Dragon-Man grimaced and said My enemy.
Lady of the Night warned, The Isotrain Mechanism will not open as long as we are imprisoned.
Dragon-Man asked The Dragon-Power, How do we get out, and the Dragon Power said, **** him.
Dragon-Man ran down the stairs to the Holdment, and pressed his watch to the stand.
But it was no use, the Isotrain Mechanism refused to open or respond to his command.
Breastplate-Bearer called out, Hey if we will die, at least we died together strong.
Dragon-Man curtly replied, I don’t intend on dying, when my trial would prove me wrong.
Suddenly the Ararian Tower was opened, and the skies were filled with rain.
There is only one man that can do this, Drent said, and I thought I would never see him again.

The Legate touched down near the Tower, and Dialect ordered the Diablo Robots to assemble.
Message watched from the Tower unmoved, because her heart was hurting still.
Dragon-Man urged, Our fight is outside, now that we can go and leave the Tower.
Be careful with these Shark-Devil, called out the wise counsel of the Dragon-Power.
Dragon-Man said, Breastplate-Bearer, you will pilot the Isotrain Mechanism for fire.
Lady of the Night, take out the Paroah Chariot as a Battlefare Platform when things get dire.
Shark-Devil said, I will end you all, The Federation and the hopeless The Legate as well.
The Legate I hope you enjoyed your time at the Great Beyond, this time you are going to hell!
The Legate stepped down, and said, I would like to have a moment with my daughter.
Officer Thon noticed, Could not hurt for a family reunion, before we begin the slaughter.

The Legate went to Drent and Message, and they both looked on him displeased.
The Legate fell down to a Coronation Stance, with one hand down and forward knees.
What are you doing? Shrieked Message, and Drent coldly said, Father this is embarrassing.
The Legate replied, I am claiming the Dahomeyian Rulership as my own, so I can give it in.
You see, I kept the Coronation Verdict on me to give it to Message as Imperial Candidate promoted.
But Drozen interrupted the proceedings with his violence so I held on to it instead.
When I came back to where our home planet was, all of the inhabitants were dead.
Message I warned you about that mercenary fool, but you refused to take heed.
I was stripped of my Dahomeyian Rulership for unbecoming conduct of greed.

Message was speechless, and she did not know what to think or tell.
Shark-Devil mocked, I’ve always wanted to **** a king, and now one is available.
Father get up, Message pleaded, We would need you in this Battlefare to live.
I fear it is too late for me, The Legate intoned, and fell backwards over the cliff.
Message cried out No, as Drent had to be restrained from going after him.
Then Message took the Coronation Verdict and said, I am now the Federation Helmetchief.
As holder of the Dahomey Leadership, Shark-Devil I condemn you to death.
You and what army, Shark-Devil asked, and Dialect said, The Diablo-Robots of the Numberless Clans
And Drent said, the Patriot Knighthood Way stand by them to lend a fighting hand.
Shark Devil your transgressions are ended, said a voice that pierced the darkness.
Flying down from the skies with the Federation on Centaur-Raptors who shook the earth.
The Federation is assembled and now is the time to answer the cry for relief.
It was the Covenantal Project, who came by piercing the Presenceless Weave.
Shark-Devil yelled out Charge, and the Ongolic Horde stepped forward to Battlefare stand.
The Covenential Project told Message, All we wait for your Rulership is for you to say the command.

The Netherbeasts all lined up on Planet Earth and Message roared, Now fall!
I am not a Project who will have mercy, I will take this Scepter and **** you all!
The Netherbeasts stood there all with smirks, they thought Message was bluffing.
But soon they were vaporized, because Message fired her scepter and turned them into nothing.
Message! The Alliance Project called out as he suppressed a smile
Play nice with the Netherbeasts, they just lost a war so let them live a while.
Message then turned and walked and Lady of the Night said, It is good to have peace.
Message nodded and replied, Some of us aren’t alive to see it, others died because they wouldn’t fall on their knees!
Lady of the Night laughed and said, Stop being dramatic, as they went to the Arurian Tower.
To meet on how to organize the Federation with the rest of the Dragon Power.

The Dragon Power said, We will be the advisory council to the Projects, and the Federation.
Also to the Dahomeyian Rulership, congratulations to Message on her elevation.
Message bowed her head and said, I am a ruler without a people, a queen without subjects.
So the Dahomeyian Rulership is awesome but it has no more substance.
The Alliance Project spoke up and said, People had been tried to find another home planet.
The people of Schmita were displaced, so you can be their ruler on Schmita and manage it.
We can even rename it Dahomeyia, if you are willing to take on that task.
Message jumped up and down saying, This is what I dreamed of, I am free at last.
She then asked, One more thing, before I leave and rule this kingdom to be.
The Alliance Project, will you come and govern this people with me.
Everyone smiled as The Alliance Project said, I thought I was supposed to propose.
Very well, I accept, because every new planet need a Project for it to grow.

The Covenantial Project said, You will be the Defender for this new Dahomeyia planet.
So no Drozen, no Vibrate can come around to destroy, because of your might.
Arthur, you will be the Templarist Project for Earth with you Excalibur.
There is no warrior in earth or in the stars above with your sword skill and caliber.
Message, as Dahomeyian Ruler you will be the head of the Federation.
And I will be the Commandant Project who overseas the entire organization.
All of them nodded and Message had tears in her eyes because of the joyous news.
After all of this time, she finally have her own new planet to view.
Message and The Alliance Project went home, each one of them proud.
Because they had to prepare for the Coronation, when Message would be crowned.

I am the descendant
Of those who did not make it to the slave ship.
I always wondered.
What they felt as the ships slipped away.
They must have thought
That those people were the lower portion.
Let the men with strange tongues deal with them.
But the sons of the men with strange tongues would be back.
But instead of having sticks of fire.
They would put thunder to those sticks

These men demand our Golden Stool.
We tried to tell them.
Not even our kings are worthy to sit.
Because then they would sit in a grave
But they said they wanted
The stool, the stool.
These men had a throne
But they wanted a stool
We fought over our stool
But we lost.
Although we got to keep the stool
I wonder if we would have won that war
If we held onto the people who were taken away
By those ancestors with strange tongues.
We did not fight then
So we had to fight now

And I hope we can stop fighting always.
Because now our problems are not with men
With strange tongues
But they are with our kindred
With even stranger doctrines.
We did not even get to wake up dead
Because we were not in our beds
Those men survived being taken on ships.
Survived wars over stools
But could not get out of bed because of those countrymen
Who said they would defend against men with strange tongues.

I am the one they thought was dead but I got up instead.
I am the poetry inside of the book that you have not  read.
Look inside the cover of me, each word is like a dictionary.
The binding might be scary, but the mind is a visionary.
We are kings and queens, the thing of dreams.
We have powerful voices but instead of singing we scream.
Each line describes the vibes of my various lives.
Because I wrote this section so that you can strive.
I was freed once l left this pen, to exit this page gate.
Some say it was too early, I say I left this cage late.
I’m not exhausted, I just exhausted all my options.
Ice cream without the toppings, Batman without Robin.
So this ink is looking for a page to give it adoption.
To raise it from childhood, make this phrase so wildly good.
Because this poetry can do everything you thought it could.

My essence is the second twin, the words in scripture, and the slaves savaged.
In other words, I came to the world by the middle passage.
My skin black like ebony, it lacked the ivory webbery of Spiderman
They thought skin should be dyed and I said it would be you died with no chance.
People say they want to travel to learn themselves but they end up going nowhere
In some ways its like seeing the doctor, they don’t really want to go there.
They get physical because they don’t wish to take a geneology physical.
It is probably mystical, but it is better than thinking ancestry is all from  colony visceral.
But they check up famous people from the past, the ones who said we are free at last.
And then decide they can read a little more with their breakfast.
To get a greater appreciation of their heritage, and to know what was done.
Because to keep on achieving, we have to know what was lost and won.
Michael Kusi Feb 2018
They said I would be thrown to history’s dustbin.
I said I could not hear you because I’m busy hustling.
I would rather be thrown to the lions, at least I could lead a pride.
Because I know what is inside, and I don't have to hide.
Who said to give up lied, tried to make sure my hands were tied.
The  lion's strength is in pain, the gazelle he couldn't catch again.
It must have been insane but he managed to overcome their frame.
Who do I think I am to believe I can make it.
Because what is in me is sacred, and nothing can break it.
I cannot give in as long as I stand in the land of the living.
Because I have to have my children see me on television.
Forget my name in lights, even at night my name will be bright.
Because my legacy will be the fireworks that no one can spite.
What is in me is more than fire, because it cannot be consume.
They say be still and I tell them I did enough of that in the womb.
It is called trash can, and if it can that is inspiration to me as a man.
Even trash must be collected,  I'll  build a heritage that's everlasting.

Rudolph woke up to have a red nose
He said That's weird because yesterday I didn’t have one of those.
Rudolph told Santa, My nose can now light the way
Santa said, Don’t be silly, you have a cold, stay home today!
But they made a song about me leading the reindeer with a nose so shiny.
So sing the song, Santa said, and Rudolph tried but his voice was whiny
Santa said See your nose is stuffed, it is best to stay home behind.
So Rudolph went back and Santa wondered who he could find.

He remembered there was a Frosty the Snowman.
But how will he lead a sleigh with no hands?
That’s easy, they could put the reins around his waist
Frosty the Snowman came in and asked about the place
Why are you so concerned, Santa asked, There cannot be coal.
Because it might catch on fire and this heat will eat my soul.
Santa grumbled, So I would have to give every child a present?!
Yup, and could we not go to the warmer Earth regions.
It is called the winter season, and if I go, winter would be seasoned.
The sun will melt me like butter and the whole sleigh will fall.
Santa muttered, You are ruining Christmas, and Frosty said, It’s your call.
All right, all right, Santa said, and Frosty said I got this.

Frosty led the sleigh around Earth and not a house he missed.
But on the way back he got lost, and went to the South Pole.
A polar bear saw them, and was about to eat them with his mouth whole.
Suddenly a figure came by with a sled, and said Get back they belong to me!
It was Santa Clause decked out in his robes and majesty.
He brought them to the North Pole, and everything was good.
Because Christmas was celebrated the way that it should.

I went to Dunkin Donuts.
Just to get some ice
I had purchased a drink from another store.
That was not so cold.
This was a cold move by this store
If only their sodas were cold
So I asked the cashier for some ice in a cup, please.
The cashier said, One dollar.
I was shocked.
This disgraced my forefathers.
A dollar for a cup of ice?!
I could get water from the sky
Put it in the fridge
And I would have ice, for free.
But I needed ice now.
And to do some work.
So I asked what is the wi-fi password
The cashier also said
And I quote
Wi-fi is for customer use only.
Now my forefathers are desecrated.
I told him I would take my business elsewhere
Where I don’t have to pay for wi-fi
Or ice.
That elsewhere was home.
And my fridge can supply all my needs.
My forefathers can breathe again.
I did not give in to the pressure.

This poem is one of the better ones
After all this time
I start to think
Maybe this line isn’t what it seems
I just want to understand
I copied down my thoughts
Is this personification here
Where is this poem headed
Inspiration sure is hard to get.
I’m not easily impressed by writing
This is as good as it gets.
Oops I think I spilled some juice on my shirt.
I was lost in my own thoughts.
Where did that come from?
I could have been on the news segment Do you know where you child is
Wow I never thought of poetry like this
This is talking to me and I just want to listen.
I’m so excited that I have this new poem
Let me give some time to finish this poetry.
Ok I think the school construction has stopped.
Now what do I do with the rest of the day?
This is a combination poem.
Read top to bottom- The process of a poet writing a poem.
Read bottom to top- An admirer of poetry enjoying a poem.

I could not take a bullet for you.
Not because you were in front of the gun
Or because you are shooting
But you were the one who sold the gun
Knowing that this person did not like me.
You took bullets that this gun used.
And handed it to them.
Hell, while you were at it.
I bet you even put my address in their GPS.
So now I am standing in front of a gun.
Knowing that this might be the end.
The person pulls the trigger.
Click.
Thank you.

When I think of days gone by
I never quite remember
The nights spent fast asleep
The youthful dreams of both thrill and terror
My remembrance is of an awakening
Playing basketball and dreaming of a league
The name of which I did not full understand
Because I thought NBA was a dictionary word
That had its roots in people before us
It was noun, verb, adjective, and adverb in one flick of the tongue.
Noun as in NBA
Verb as in to NBA
Adjective as in NBA player
Adverb as in NBA likes
See I was paying attention in English class after all.

Other’s thoughts of drinking from hoses did not appeal
Because the high rise was my portion.
The water fountain would suffice for me.
Running races and coming in last
So I would race against the shadows hoping first would be my turn.
Drinking juices that seemed to be lab experiments
Which had different recipes of water, food coloring and sugar.
They said it would make us hyper
I would have to agree
Because after a morning stuck inside in class
I could not wait to go outside.
They called it recess
But I did not get why playing had to have a name.
Because I just called it ball.

Later when I played sports in school
And my age was double-figured
I still did not understand why playing had to be organized.
I still called it ball
Sometimes we would put a broken crate over a tree
And shoot the basketball into it.
Then stare with blank faces at parents
When they told us they played netball in our native land.
Over here it is just ball, mom.
Where I was we used to play 50.
So imagine my surprise when I tried out
And realized they did not count a basket as 5 points
I did protest, vigorously
Saying this is my chance, Coach.
For every shot I make to be kindergarten aged.
Because the rest of the other kids have more threes in their nature
Then a class full of preschoolers going to the Bronx zoo.
So their class outnumbers my class.
My coach did not get my point.
I did not get the point, either.
Because it was hard for me to make foul shots like them too.
My coach murmured to me, They just have more class, period.

Eventually the nights leave
And the day goes by.
My fantasy has come true.
Sort of.
I am on a NBA basketball court.
About to make a free throw.
But this is not a game.
They told me it was complimentary with the ticket.
Did not matter what happened.
Or how I got this opportunity.
I said to myself, This is not a game.
That was why I practiced this morning.
So I shot the ball
And hit my cap when I shot
I feared I would miss.
I knew I should have taken it off.
But I was relieved when it went in.
What it proved was not as important as what I did.

More nights go on trips not to be seen again.
And more days walk by
They become the memories of a photo album
And the times I start talking about by saying
When I comb back black hair
When I brush the grey
Even if I touch a head unburdened by hair strands
Because the divine no longer needs to number them
I will tell my children
I will speak of it to my grandchildren through the haze of age.
I knew a simpler time
My youth was good.
Michael Kusi Aug 2018
I hoped that you felt better.
I even yearned more than what happened did not come to past
I did not want to lose you, because you mean the world to me.
When I was too sick to climb out of bed
You were too good to leave me alone
Sent the scent of flowers and the arm of cards to reach me.
Now you have taken to your bed.
Which is of sickness and God forbid not unto death.
So I know my duty
Because this is a temporary portion
I will set out to help bring you to the land of the healthed ones.
Because this is what friends do
And this is more than friendship
You are my kinfolk.

My back is against the wall, and I don’t want to end up like Humpty.
One of my legs is asleep, so forgiveness is in order for only being down on one knee.
May I be bold, its like I put in a direct call to heaven but got put on hold.
They broke the mold with me, and then they wanted to put me in mold.
They told me that the world was cold, and I just accused them of being old.
They wondered how I came out alive with no umbilical cord.
But didn’t you need to eat, they asked and I did not say a word.
I didn't  need  food,  I was dumped in  a belly of meal replacement
So I can take you to where a man was born as a real-live spaceship.
When I was coming I needed all of me, so I took my Amitotic sac in.
They said I couldn't go back because my old world was collapsing
Because the gravity I had to overcome was the gravity of the situation.
I had to be patient because when I came out of the womb I was a patient.
No tear in my eye as a newborn, so the doctors were unsure if I could cry.
Then I was brought home, and these doctors all waved their good-bye.

Pharoah Ramses was dictating the Battle to his scribe.
Saying that, I fought my way and the gods helped me stay alive!
The King’s young daughter, Meritiamen, said Please excuse me.
But it was by my efforts that the Hittites and their allies were made to flee.
Ramses brushed her off and said, Hush young child the pharaoh is speaking.
Now scribe, I could feel the Ptah Division began to weaken.
Mertiamen retorted, Father, it was your Amun Division that broke first.
My Ptah Division came to save you, otherwise it would have been the worse.
The scribe was confused and said to himself, These writings would be my end.
One of them is telling the truth, the other one is living in pretend.
I believe the pharaoh is living in a world where only the gods reside.
Ramses blurted out, Then I stabbed the Hittite high king and he died!
Mertiamen rolled her eyes and said, Then how come we did not recover his corpse.
Father, you did a great service to the gods and Egypt yesterday, you don’t have to force.
It was a great victory, you don’t have to diminish it with a lie
The Hittite High King left the battlefield, he did not die.
Ramses snorted and said, I was all alone, no once around to save .
An arrow narrowly missed me, if it hit I would be in the grave.
The God of Egypt made mortal, it would have been a tragedy too.
Meritiamen blurted out, But my Ptah Division broke in to rescue you.
The scribe said, From now on, I will ask Meritiamen about the dispatch.
Because my pharaoh, it seems as if you don’t have all of the proper facts.
Ramses protested, But we were surrounded with no hope of breakthrough.
Meritiamen shook her head and said, My Pharoah, I would never let them take you.
The Pharoah and his Princess were arguing, and the scribe put his head in his hand.
Muttering to himself, I just cant… I don’t really understand.
I was working for the temple when they said Work for the pharaoh on campaign.
This is the hardest thing I’ve done in my life, and I can feel virtue leaving my brain.
The Princess then smiled saying, Scribe, we will have separate dispatches of the Battle of Kadesh.
I’m sure mine would be better, but the Pharoah also has a tale to embellish.
The Pharoah started up again, and the scribe rolled his eyes.
After so many years of observing Pharoah Ramses, he wasn’t really surprised.

I just came to be honest and tell the sacred truth.
I dealt myself a strong hand, they put the metal in it like Sabretooth.
They stocks and retirement go down because of announcements from on high.
Others put bump stocks into guns and fire down and as a result, men die.
But my stock cannot go down it must rise, because the devil is a lie.
They say have a dream and I say a dream can be a nightmare.
So I don’t have to take the battle to sleep when I could fight here.
I’m more determined than brilliant, more earth made than heaven sent.
Because I believe that I must make it in life so I cannot relent.
They ask if I am trying to make a recipe and I reply it’s a legacy.
Because I am running and the only leg I see, is the one ending in victory.
I’m always running like a person for office, ask for offerings for this coffers.
But once they count the votes it would be a surprise, because nothing can stop us.
Michael Kusi Jul 2018
I never thought that I would see the day.
Just as I got good at fighting.
That I would have to put my hands down.
I would have to sit down.
Because I am now grown up.
But maybe now I am good at a different type of fighting.
One that does not require me to stand.
But tells me to understand.
Because it is that time of fight.
Just because I put my hands down.
Does not mean I don't have to put my foot down.
It is better than putting my foot in my mouth
I don't like the taste of it.

I said I think I was going bald
My friend said I don’t think baldness runs in your family
No one, from the looks of you, runs in your family.
If baldness was to run in your family it would be on the sides.
Just like when you go to the restaurant and ask for extra sides.
Ouch.
But she kept going on
And I was suspicious
Hair will continue to grow on your body
The same way your love handles do.
I said stop.
This is enough
At least I am not going grey
She fidgeted and said well……
Oh no.

I need to find love.
Love with me throughout the night.
Love in all my places.

I don’t think love’s here
What I have isn’t enough
Love should feel like heat

This feels like coldness
What I have will have to do
Keep me nice at night.

Because love is different.
The cold’s needed like the heat.
I am close to both.

Love consists of cold and heat.
That together forms that love

People seem to always ask me.
When they see me with outstretched hand
What do you want to be when you grow up?
First of all, I’m grown.
I’m twice the age of a teenager who enters high school.
I have lived their life twice.
And each time saw the same outcome.
Secondly, I really don’t know.
All my life I was told that when you grow up you have answers.
Only to realize at my age there is always questions.

What to do, when to do it.
I’m too old to be a pro athlete.
Too young to be president.
And too busy to care either way.
So I get I could want to be an attribute.
Like kind, smart, funny.
I think I heard someone over there said I was cute.
But kind, smart and funny doesn’t pay the bills.
And I don’t want the bills that cute pays.

So I guess I could stay in my lane.
And think with confidence.
I went to school to get loans
That would buy a house in middle America.
So that I could be uncertain about job prospects
And as a bonus I would have everyone on tv.
Tell me how easy it is to make money
But they are silent when I say I want a career.
They are also silent because I am yelling at a tv
But never mind.
So I guess I could just do what I went to school for.
To be an inspiration to others who are coming up
So that there are professionals who think like me.

I fed you this meal
Because I loved you
But the pressure that is raised
When you ate this meal
Isn’t the only pressure in this relationship
Because it isn’t the only problem that has to be raised.

I feel the way Kryptonite does when it looks at Superman.
All of Superman’s abilities
And he still have not figured out the Kryptonite problem.
What I face may have abilities.
But I will be the problem that they can’t solve.
I Know that when I am there
I can overcome any obstacle.
Because I don’t have to touch my obstacle
To affect my surroundings.
Just as Superman does not have to touch kryptonite
He just has to be around it.
When I remove myself from the situation
My problems leave by themselves.
Because they know my power.
Like when Kryptonite is removed.
Superman is not there for long
Because he knows that Kryptonite might come back.
While Batman laughs at him in the background.

I felt the heat, but I was afraid to see if it was fire
Because looking at you was like viewing the first plane across the sky.
This brother is hoping that no one takes him off this high spot
Because I am in a place I have not been to before.
I hope this situation holds up
I pray I do not fall
Because there is nowhere to go in my life but down.
They must have told that brother, use a balloon.
It is what is there.
Like they told me I should be happy just to be friends
Because you are already there.
But just as the wright brothers had to try.
I, as the right brother, had to at least attempt.
I am glad I was successful.
So we can be fly together.
And change the world forever.

We was so smart that there was whispers it was symptomatic
I heard it and thought that they said sympathetic.
I told them I could relate, better than a man to his in laws
They replied grimly that what I just said was being taken care of in laws
I said that you don’t need a writing
To see that there is mind goodness.
They threw up their hands and said,
My goodness, do you have to turn everything to a positive.
I said, If *** can be positive, then so can I!

You are the best.
I don’t want to find out the truth.
You keep what you said to yourself.
Hurry up, this should be over quickly.
I wish you would tell me how you feel.
No you are not like the rest, you are special.
You heard that before? This time I mean it.
We have to do this quickly, I’m in a rush.
Do you want me to order breakfast?
Don’t laugh, I can cook if it could be boiled.
I see that we have eggs in the fridge.
You forgot your shoes and your socks don’t match.
I’m not self-righteous because there is no God there.
Why should we argue when we know what we are here for.
I love you Honey, good luck tomorrow.

Imagine if every day you woke up.
The son of a rich man
But sickness was your portion.
The doctors don’t know what is wrong.
Your body betrays you on a daily basis.
Imagine that
An athlete who struggles to get out of bed.
But you do it every day.
A war hero
Who struggles it off
Saying
It was involuntarily they sank my boat.
Just like you said in your youth.
If I lose any more blood count I’m gonna die.
Your younger brother even said to you
Half-jokingly
If a mosquito bit you that mosquito would die
And you nodded in agreement
You did not die, yet.
But that thought haunts you every day.

You did not become the youngest elected president.
Because you wanted to
You did it because you had to.
Because with the sickness, came gifts.
The gift of reading.
The gift of empathy.
And the gift of charisma
You could make a nurse giggle when you spoke
That so many who would walk around did not have.
You were sure time was short.
Your daddy said
Sons, I could not be president.
One of you must.
You were the one
And thought, maybe I would live longer than I thought
But in the back of your mind you knew
The diseases in you could not be cured
Even by presidential doctor’s hands.
So on the day you were stricken
You knew you might die, any day now.
You just never thought it would be by bullets
And you never could have imagined.
It would give you a kingdom that would live forever.
Called Camelot.
Rest in Peace, JFK.

If its time to make love I’m ready for some history loving.
But when they said I had a bouncing babe in the rotisserie oven.
I said that you did not have to tell me that I had a belly.
Because in most foreign cultures it was a sign someone is wealthy
They retorted that my babe must be in nicu, I told them frick you.
But it sounded more like the word people use when they want to do.
They got offended and stormed off, but how did they expect me to reply.
Did they expect me to apologize to them as if I am that kind of guy.
Smile, and say hi, I’ll work so my belly goes down from nine months to one.
The worst is when they are a stranger and initiate the conversation.
Then I comment on their lack of hair, and say they are aging gracefully.
One person who I told this turned from condescending to a raging face to me.
He whispered my belly needed deliverance, I replied that what his hair needed was dead.
I thought that based on his comments about me it had to be said.
They left on a huff from the train, I’d just thought I would share some of my pain.
Such people need to be taught manners so they are not rude like that again.

If I was a king.
You would be more than a queen to me
You would be the whole game.
The board with whom I would never be bored.
The one around I put all the pieces
Of my life.
So I could be up front with you.
Although There would be no pawns in this game.
So when I make moves
I would not have to go across
I would not take an L.
I could not make a mistake without being put in check.
Because even at the end.
When I got captured
It was by you.
Because I am your mate.

My enemies are perished.
At least that is what I like to tell myself.
I look around
And where I am at I see no one there.
Just images I revere.
Because my idols sit on the altar.
I prefer the term role models.
But the righteous pointing fingers say it is an idol.
I protest that I put them there myself.
This is the idol of every ism that man lifted up holy hands to worship.
So that must mean my enemies are gone forever?
They must be gone, forever.
Otherwise there is no ism I was calling on before that can save me.
Because if they are not hiding, that means I should be.
I would need more than an ism.
I would need more than an idol on an altar.
I would need HIM.
I should call on the name of Jesus Christ.
But in reverence, not as an expletive.
So that I would not need an idol.
And I can sit in the presence of my enemies.

This is David.
I killed the Goliath giant.
And was invited to Saul’s palace.
But let me back up.
My father said I should go to the battlefield.
To give my brothers food.
To give their commander food.
And to report about the war front.
I kept my mouth shut
Because I remember the tale about Joseph
And when he came to check on his brothers.
I’m sure my brothers would rather have a Philistine.
At least they could fight him
And not be restrained by Father.

I traveled to the battlefield.
I saw a giant yelling.
His body shined with strange medals.
And someone was holding his shield.
The man had to hold it up
To cover that giant’s body.
I thought it strange because I knew of armor bearers
But not shield bearers.
But I had heard
That the man who slew this heathen
Would be paid
And get the king’s daughter.
My interest was suddenly there.
I did not know the king’s daughter.
But I knew that the money could help my family.
And being the king’s son could not hurt.
Oops, I said that out loud.
And Eliab heard me.
He rushed over with an angry face.
And cursed me with words he dare not speak in front of father.
I went away meekly.
Knowing that if I did not slay Goliath, no one else would.
Including Eliab.
I saw the terror in his face when Goliath spoke
Terror that was a stranger to me.
I requested the King’s audience.
King Saul was taller than any other man I met
Save the giant.
He looked concerned.
I wondered where was Jonathan.
He tried to persuade me not to fight.
Sayin he was a warrior from his youth.
I told him I am a youth so it was time for me to wage war.
Then King Saul gave me his armor.
It was so heavy I fell to one knee.
King Saul’s countenance changed from worry to despair.
He then gave me his sword.
I put over my shoulder.
And a servant put it around my waist.
But it kept falling.
I knew that I could not fight like this.
It would be like trying to fight a bear.
But maybe….
I told the king these were not tried.
What I meant to say was that they were tried and found wanting.
I got my sling.
That was put to the side when I put on the armor.
And prepared to face Goliath.

I could see Goliath in the distance.
Leering.
Sneering.
His shield bearer had put the shield down to rest.
I thought to myself, how many stones do I need.
I then remembered that the Philistines had 5 cities.
And I would need more just in case the Philistines rushed
Because I was a distance from the Hebrew lines.
I picked up 5 stones.
Examined each of them.
Then put them in my pouch.
Goliath seemed, befuddled.
That a youth sent to fight him in the challenge.
Would be at a creek playing with stones.
But I thought, By the Lord God Almighty,
One of these stones will be in your head.
Because you blasphemed the Lord God of Hosts.
And blasphemers get ******.

I then walked forward to meet Goliath.
He was so tall he hurt my head to look up at him.
And the words he spoke were profane.
Against the children of the Most High God.
He spoke about feeding me to animals.
I told him that I fought animals in the name of the Lord.
And no one shall feast on my portion.
He then roared and came after me.
The Shield-bearer came up behind him.
I thought, Now is my change.
The shield-bearer cannot protect from behind.
And his rush has left his forehead undone.
That will be his mistake.
I slung the rock.
It hit Goliath in the forehead.
And Goliath stepped forward.
I readied another stone.
But Goliath fell dead.
And the shield bearer ran back to the lines.
I ran to where Goliath was
And I raised his sword.
The first sword I ever touched.
And cut off his head.
I raised it up
All of Israel came running towards me.
And the Philistines fled.
I would now see the backs of the Philistines
On a regular basis.

If there is strength out there I know where to find it.
Take it by my hands.
Look at it in my eye.
I will not rest, I will not sit until it is mine.
I have never seen strength before
Embodied in a physical form.
I have had strength but it was weakened
And I did not care for it.
My eye was not strengthened by this so-called strength.
I know that coveting is a vice.
Quite literally it is a vice that entraps and ensnares
But my motives are pure
And therefore I do not covet
I aspire.

They want to arm teachers.
I would rather pay teachers
But they replied they would pay teachers to carry arms.
But I sneered that they would ignore teachers who come with open arms
To receive pay.
You cannot convince me that a teacher should only be paid more
If they take up arms.
And if teachers are to play  police
To police our children
Does that mean the role of children in the classroom changes too?
Would teachers be more instructors or security guards?
I don't know how anyone would be able to do both equally well.
It would be like someone being both judge and baliff.

The sad part is if they ask for a pay raise for any other reason
Such as I need to keep up a standard of living
They say we can’t afford it.
But we can’t afford to skimp on education.
They risk their lives every day
To do what is most essential for our society
Teach our kids.
We have people who can protect them.
The teacher's role is uniquely bestowed.
But you add guns to the equation
It makes it more of a battle.
And not one thats adds up.
The violence might multiply
Because more guns cross the divide between teacher and student.
It is said that the teacher’s unions are the problem.
If there was no teacher union there would not be advocates at all.
Because if these people complaining did not talk out of both sides of their mouth
They really would not be able to talk at all.

My name is Michal.
I am King Saul’s daughter.
And David’s wife.
I was betrothed to David
But my father did not seem happy.
He was muttering something about David getting all the foreskins in the Philistine land.
And that I had to be married to David.
Had to be?
What that not the condition of the Goliath giant killer.
I still remember the first time I saw him.
He was shorter than I thought he would be
And had dark hair and dark eyes.
He was handsome.
And when he spoke, it was quieter than Jonathan.
Maybe it was because Jonathan and I grew up in the palace.
Where we would argue, a lot.
At least when he was not off to battle.
So much so that some servants would run to other parts of the palace.
And I suspect others would listen by the door.

David was more agreeable.
But I kept my idols hidden from him.
Because I knew that he would not understand.
He kept his harp and sang to Yahweh.
I admired such faith
Even if I did not have it.
But my father, did not like David.
Whenever I would ask him why.
Saying that he was my husband
Adding he was Jonathan’s best friend.
And the only man who Jonathan did not argue with.
Saul just kept muttering about foreskins.
Which confused me as David was circumcised.
I would know as his wife.
Was there something deeper going on?
But I dared not ask.
Only Jonathan in our family would have such recklessness.

One day David came running to our house.
He was panting and unarmed.
Sweating with an emotion I did not ever see him have.
It was fear.
I asked him what happened.
He said that Saul tried to throw his javelin at him, again.
Again?
And missed.
I told him if he keeps going to Saul.
One day the King will throw his javelin at him
And Saul will not miss.
Even if it meant he would have to bring armed men to hold you down.
So it is best to leave.
David was puzzled on why he had to flee.
I told him that our love is eternal
It would even survive Saul’s hatred.
Because if you are meant to be king.
I will be your Queen against all odds.
David left out of the window.
I am sure his military training helped.

I took the idol from a room.
I put goat’s hair on it.
And put cloths on it in the bed.
I was sorry for such irrelevance
But David, my love had to live.
I’m sure such sacrilege would be forgiven.
Soon after I heard loud knocking on the door.
I wondered who it was.
But I dreaded who I thought it could be.
So I opened the door
I recognized some of the men who worked in the palace.
They said they wanted to see David.
I told them he did not come home.
They pushed me aside and entered in.
I yelled at them that this was not the way to treat a princess of God’s anointed.
They ignored me, to my surprise.
I said, He is sick because of his wounds.
Leave him alone.
They left.
I stood there, shaken.
Wishing that they would leave me alone as well.
And wondering what they would do when they came back.
These men did come back
With more men.
And demanded to take David with his bed to the king.
I felt a relief to know that David was not actually there
And a sickening feeling.
What would they have done if David was laid up sick?
They took the bed out.
And after a while Father came back.
He was angry, more so than normal.
And screamed at me that David was not in that bed.
He has escaped to lead an insurrection.
I screamed back at Father
David said he would ****, me.
What manner of man did you have me marry
Who would threaten to lay hands on his love.
Saul was stunned into silence.
I feared I would not see David again.
The only man I love.

If you still got that look in your eye, you better blink twice.
Because I am a lot of things, and one of them is to think nice.
You said that you would be there to be beside and care for me.
I don’t mean to sound old fashioned but where art thee.
I couldn’t find you on the Facebooklist or the Instagrammys.
But I just wanted to contact you so you could understand me.
If I could write you a love poem, I would start with this premise.
You are the soul that goes into every one of my life sentence.
And I would conclude with this closing thought from above too.
You don’t have to say He loves me not because  I love you.

We sing psalms of strength to our Savior.
The mighty Majesty, the one who moves mountains.
He spoke to seeds of strength in man and mustard, and said
If your face has faith, it frees the flesh of fear.
He set out on the sea, and said the Spirit’s saved.
Simon stepped out of the ship, and sunk screaming Christ!
But Christ came to call us chosen.
The redeemer reached to reign over the sea.
Each of us now endowed, enabled and emboldened
Because he was broken and bruised for us to be.

it might be tough it might be hard but let’s get it
because what would we be without the struggle
the only thing I could raise was myself up
and even that took some time and some effort
i don’t want to hear how rough you got life
i got life too, it tasted like a catfish
on a warm summer day
just caught from the sea and brought to my plate
but I did not eat the whiskers, I’d tell you that.
I did not eat the whiskers, I’d tell you that
but I had to be in furtherance of my goals
like soccer, but without all that running
and kicking and the ball
on second thought maybe its not like soccer at all
maybe its more like flying
I’m strapped in and everything is feeling good
Its like im in the womb again but the womb
did not feel so cold to the touch I did not move
in the womb now i’m moving fast so fast almost too fast
i wish that I could slow down or just stop
flying is too intense for me lets try something else
like swimming oh wait I don’t know how to swimming what
was I think maybe I should just stop with these metaphors
life is like a box of pizza its all the same the only thing that
changes is the toppings or the amount of slices that you get
those slices don’t feel good or look good they are quick
to the touch and sometimes they make you feel sad
that’s a good metaphor I think I’ll stick with that
it may be tough but we are a lot tougher.

You got television
I got to tell a vision
Of a time, when people can be free
When we don’t have to believe in others
Because we first reassured ourselves
We should not think the people on television have all of the power
Instead we should press the remote control and turn off the power
We are always in control
The power just seemed remote
Because the power is not actually in our remote.
The power is in our hearts
So let us get up
And be the ones on television people would want to watch
So that when they have the remote
They will turn the channel to hear us speak of our vision.

When I have to serve the Creator, I bring everything to God’s throne.
Because the X’s stand for crosses that I died on to self, I have the King’s chromosome.
The King's chromosome is the DNA that swam in the blood that spilled from Jesus’s side.
And it lives on my tongue as the It is finished that Christ uttered before he died.
God said I will be written into history, I am just wondering which book.
I was deep into sin, and seeing myself as fallen when he made me switch looks.
Jesus went into the sky without a spacecraft, I said I couldn’t be forgiven and his face laughed.
Because God reassured me that he was wounded for whatever was in the past.
Jesus flew to the dimension that had no name, high tension would never be the same.
Because he said my sins were forgiven, and my mention of it should not be on my brain.
So when I look out into the seas, God’s voice speaks and says to walk.
I step out onto the waters but don’t sink into the depths, because I followed God’s motivational talk.
