Snow Day
Michael Kusi Jan 2018
I was glued to the T.V
As a child.
No, I was not watching cartoons
I was watching the weather
And hoping for the magic announcement.
They kept talking about people getting caught in the snow.
And the snowplows in the snow
I wanted to hear that schools were canceled because of the snow.
Then a man came on the television
Maybe he would announce my deliverance.
New York schools are….
I held my breath
Open.
Oh no.
I did not do my homework
Because I thought there would be a snow day.
Now I have to do it on the bus.
Its hard to do math problems
With the bus trying to navigate the snow.
They say I can play with the snow at school
I reply that it is better to play in the snow at home.
They don’t seem to understand my sudden concern
So I put on my jacket and go outside
A snow day has been denied to me
And the man on television now owes me.
Michael Kusi Jan 2018
My mouth: I’m okay, Everything is fine.
My heart: The wind will not give in
It laughs at my feeble attempts to shovel.
The snow wants to fly away as soon as I approach it.
I don’t know how I am holding onto the shovel
Because I cannot feel my fingers.
The gloves mean nothing
Because the winds does not respect it.
They told me it stopped snowing
They lied.
And I am the one who is outside.
The winds have pierced through the layers
To reach my heart inside.
I don’t know if frostbite means too warm or too cold
Because right now all the temperatures are hitting me.
I want to go inside
But I am not done, not done
Even the sun has left because it is too cold.
Winter is not coming, winter is here.
My stomach: Ooh, a pizza delivery truck!
My shoe: I think I stepped in some dog--
And we don't have a dog.

Jesus brought himself to the cross, gasping
It had to be this way
This way, the only way
Because Jesus is the Way.
All that was essential in Jesus had to die
So that in death all that is important to God may live.
Everything that mattered to God
Had to go through the cycle of death
For life to be restored.
They put the crown of thorns on him.
Some crown if it was all thorns.
The jewels were pointy.
Not pointing toward God.
But pointing in God.
Piercing him.
Releasing the blood that was ignoring by the whippings.
And the beatings by man’s hands.
These rough men called on the sharpness of a tree.
The Word says he was pierced for us
But why God does it have to be so much?

Then he had to shoulder the cross
Up to where he would die.
Like a soldier carries a gun.
Only this weapon would **** the God of War.
Pierced by men who simply do battle.
God was stabbed by nails, thorns, and spears
To win the only conflict that matters.
He arrived and they put him on the cross
With nails
Or more accurately, spikes
The little nails used for housework would not do.
When God was the one about to clean house.
They were spikes that went into his arms.
And in his legs.
No part of his body was left unpierced.
The Word says he was wounded for us
But his body was now all gaping wound.
Why God did it have to be so?

Then the Roman soldier passed by.
The one to make sure the Christ was dead.
He put his spear into his side.
Other stories told of how gods were inflicted pain.
This soldier actually did it
By God’s consent
With God’s approval
Because God wanted mankind to be free.
It was better for Christ to be pierced and wounded
Than for mankind to be enslaved and tormented.
So when Christ told Thomas to touch his side
And feel the nails in his hands
The Son of Man who was all wound
And the eternal sacrifice
Became my healing salvation
Christ conquered the affliction
That stood in the way between me and my Father.
So as Christ’s side was torn
The veil was torn as well
And I am free.

There is a smile on my cheek kissed, because crying is the howl of the weakest.
When someone asks if everything is all good I just scowl in the bleakness.
I learned early on that showing emotion was just not right.
Because the man who perseveres is the one who must got fight.
I’m so happy, even if my eyes don’t show it you can see by my teething.
Even if you say my lips are upside down, I reply by my leaving.
Everything is fine, I say as if to convince myself but this king is blind.
Because my ring still shines, although life brings the crime of stinging time.
I can only see you in pictures, and our conversations are just memories.
At this point I get more contact from enemies, I don’t see you in my assemblies.
I just hope that wherever you are, you were not brought there by one way train.
Because I yearn that my someday pain will bring us together via a sunny lane.

They tried to defeat us
Did not realize we was the fetus.
Tried to grab us by the legs
To de feet us.
In a sort of breach birth.
But we left by our heads
To get ahead.
Came out with one accord.
So when they cut a cord.
We could get sustenance from the outside.

I was in the student center one day
I was watching a game
And it became vital to me over time
In fact, It became more than important
It was revelation.
But this was not found in a book.
I could watch it on T.V
Knights with helmets battling on a field.
Some of my friends became those knights
And fought on the high school level.
It was different playing it in the inner-city
Where one person would throw up a ball
And we would all try to catch it.
Dodging cars and houses and the road.
I tried to be one of those knights
But I was more suited to watching
Than taking up arms.
Because I could not catch the bullet from certain arms.
They said I should stick to shooting
Basketballs, that is.
Then I was introduced to the Super Bowl
And it drew me in.
I did not think any bowl could be so amazing
I am not a dog
But this bowl is always filled with treats
So I kept coming back year after year.
And the college bowls as well
Now I had more bowls than mouths
But I was not complaining
So when I was able to set up my own Super Bowl tradition
And this is tradition
A national holiday as game
It was a fulfillment of a youthful passion.

I want to speak to you
In a language I cannot understand.
That has never been written down.
With words that were not created by me
So I cannot take full credit
But I find useful for my purposes
They said it should be easy
That I should just be able to say how I feel.
Not with this tongue.
And those who said it is nothing
Never knew what it is like to give their everything to someone else.
Or they would be nervous too
Because these words that are worth saying
Are worth a second thought
I said I did not understand this language
But I know it is the most influential power that comes from my body.
I wish I could take out my heart and let it speak for me
While I was in another room.
I guess I have to muster up some courage
Because this language requires multiple emotions in one phrase
And some of these emotions are contradictions
Bravery and fear
Humor and seriousness
Happiness and apprehension.
But through all this trepidation.
Its amazing that with the same mouth I can put common food with
I can say I love you with all my heart.

It was the Christmas party.
And everyone was gathered around.
It was time to open the presents.
I was glad I did my job.
Sort of.
See I had gotten someone
The same gift my friend had given me.
Some years back.
And rewrapped it.
I was hoping no one would notice.
And think my gift was generous
When it was basically the gift version of leftovers.

I held my breath.
My co-worker opened the present.
And stared at it in puzzlement.
She said
This person got me… an Ipod classic?
They don’t make those anymore
But it would have to do.
I thought Keep on with the Christmas spirit!
Suddenly she looked kind of mad
Oh no.
She cried out
It still has movies and music on it!
Who would do such a thing!
Well, I would.
Do you know how hard it is to find a box to fit an Ipod Classic?
I had to rummage through my attic.
It was so cold and cramped and dark up there.
Kudos to me for finding the box.
But I had to keep calm.
The gift-giving at the Christmas party was anonymous
So she would never know it was me.
But if I tried to slip out.
Everyone would know the truth.
I was the worst kind of Christmas giver
A regifter
So I just watched to see what would happen.
I Thought it could not get any worse
Boy was I wrong.

She started to read the movies and music on it.
Horrible Bosses, Avengers, X-Men, Star Trek.
Why do you have to put me on blast like that.
I just hoped that she wouldn’t scroll……
Oh no the pictures
I had selfies on it.
I’m doomed.
At least I had a good life.
But she put the IPod back in her purse.
And said that she would clear it
And use it as a backup for her digital media.
I’m safe for now.
I just should not be surprised.
If I get an angry call in the middle of the night soon
I know why.

Santa came down the chimney
He was glad the fireplace was not on this time.
He dusted himself off and checked his GPS.
Modern technology
Has made his job so much easier.
Santa remembered when he was using Mapquest
It was not pretty.
Trying to get into homes that did not have chimneys
Was no easy business.
He walked around the living room.
And did not see a tree.
So he took a plant from off the windowsill
And put the presents by it.
This should give them holiday cheer.

Santa then went to the cookies.
He was looking forward to the cookies and milk.
I hope they have chocolate milk
It is my favorite.
He saw the cookies
It was Macadamia nut.
Santa shook his head
It was not his favorite but he had to do.
Then Santa saw the milk
It looked like whole milk.
Santa sighed.
They are not bringing what Santa likes
He then drank the milk
And spat it out.
What is this?
Almond milk?
Why would you do that to Santa
He shouted.
Then ran into the kitchen so no one would see him.
Santa had to wash his mouth out.
All the while muttering
Almond milk, Almond milk?!
Almond milk is not even milk!
It is just potpourri that fakes being milk!
Real milk comes from animals that feed on land.
Not the land itself!

Suddenly a man came to the kitchen with his son.
And asked, What are you doing here?!
The son cried out, Daddy he ate your milk and cookies!
Santa tried to explain, I thought they were mine.
And soon left the home.
He went to his sleigh
And told himself, I really should have reviewed the naughty list.
These trips will be the end of me.
Almond milk and macademia cookies?!
What is this, all nut everything for Christmas?!

Santa said
I will give you a lump of coal.
I replied in rejoicing
Give me all the coal you can.
I’m not even going to argue with you.
My house needs all the warmth
That coal could provide.
Santa seemed startled.
He told me I had been bad.
I told him that even bad people need warm homes.
He nodded in bemusement.

I was watching the news one day
And I saw something very interesting.
It was a person standing beside a shovel
And looking very proud of himself.
The reporter asked him
Sir a person tried to rob you
And you chased him away with your shovel?
Were you not scared?
He might have owned a gun.
The man replied.
Shaking his head as if it had happened before
No, no, not at all.
The whole world outside this house belongs  to him.
But everything that is inside my home is all mine.
I guess he saw that if he stayed inside this house
His body would be owned by me as well.
The shovel that is good for chasing is also good for burying
I told him if he wanted the money so badly
He would have to fight me for it
I have never lost a fight in my life
Even if I had nine lives I would be undefeated in all of them
And I did not mind taking from the earth a robber.
I would be doing the world a favor
I guess he did mind.
Too bad I did not ask his opinion.
This boy did not consider the fact that you can’t rob crazy.
If you yourself want to live.
He was looking for a robbery
But this boy did not know I was looking to start a body count.
Once he knew he made the wise decision to run away.
The reporter looked confused
So she went to a policeman who was at the scene.
The man with the shovel.
Is my kind of guy.
Michael Kusi Dec 2017
My whole body went under the water, because I  am dedicated.
And reading the Bible for revelation is nothing to me  because its premediated.
If I fall, God reassures me that the blood of Jesus speaks better things.
I am a King who can bring my problems to the one who rules over everything.
Jesus went through hell so he could cast his blood on the mercy seat.
He Got up from under the ground, so that I could rise above defeat.
Jesus came out of the place that had never seen a light.
But He is the light of the world, even though darkness came to fight.
Victory was in his hands, and the Morning Star overcame the night
Now there is hope, because he took the keys of hell and the grave
Jesus laid down his life and took it back to  tell us he saves.

Hey you!
Kneeling down with ***** fingers
Please stop planting flowers there.
I know that they look pretty.
I hear how much they cost and how long you waited in line
But this  is not a garden
This is a graveyard
And there is no sustenance here
You really should not plant seeds
It is better to lay a wreath down.
In remembrance of those who make this place
Their eternal home.
Because if you keep planting flowers there
We will all leave to go on to our daily lives
And the flowers will only add to the dead
Because everyone who could've cared for the flowers is long gone.

My back is against the wall, and I don’t want to end up like Humpty.
One of my legs is asleep, so forgiveness is in order for only being down on one knee.
May I be bold, its like I put in a direct call to heaven but got put on hold.
They broke the mold with me, and then they wanted to put me in mold.
They told me that the world was cold, and I just accused them of being old.
They wondered how I came out alive with no umbilical cord.
But didn’t you need to eat, they asked and I did not say a word.
I didn't  need  food,  I was dumped in  a belly of meal replacement
So I can take you to where a man was born as a real-live spaceship.
When I was coming I needed all of me, so I took my Amitotic sac in.
They said I couldn't go back because my old world was collapsing
Because the gravity I had to overcome was the gravity of the situation.
I had to be patient because when I came out of the womb I was a patient.
No tear in my eye as a newborn, so the doctors were unsure if I could cry.
Then I was brought home, and these doctors all waved their good-bye.

Whose Text Message is This
Is you and her together sleeping?
This deed is low, don’t blame the mistletoe
Now I think I am weeping

Oh no we just met at the water fountain.
We went caroling and sung Go tell it on the mountain.
She gave me her number, there was no slumber.
I think she is my seventeenth cousin and she has a husband.

So she gave you a present under the tree.
All wrapped up with a bow.
Please say the truth to me, and I promise I wont be.
So mad that you did something under the mistletoe.

Oh that’s a relief, so then I could get it off my chest.
We met, I took her home, and you probably know the rest.
She gave me a tour, we kissed at the door.
Now I’m glad it worked out for the best.

This, this is the worst thing that you have ever done!
For Christmas you can swallow pride and sleep outside.
But I thought that everything was forgiven?
Besides isn’t the Christmas season a time of cheer.
Well it sure doesn’t feel cheerful up in here.

I’ll delete her number from my cell phone contact.
Because on Christmas I don’t want mortal combat.
I know now the correct thing to do.
Because for all time I will always choose you.

We shall fight on the landing grounds
We shall never surrender!
Ask not what your country can do for you
Ask what you can do for your country!
Sir I just asked you if you wanted chicken or fish.
As the main entrée.
His children looked embarrassed.
Daddy is at it again.
This time he combined speakers
And nations.
And the confused waitress was just standing there.

She did not know if the chicken would fight on the landing grounds
Or if the fish should ask the country what to do.
Because Daddy was thinking of the battle
The times when men were men
And everyone knew this fact.
His children just wanted to eat.
Daddy finally spoke up
And said Buffalo.
They say its endangered.
I have to eat one before they are all gone.
My ancestors enjoyed them.
I should too.
Too bad I could not hunt it.
But if someone would be  kind enough to hunt it for me
The waitress cut him off and said, We don’t have buffalo.
And I doubt that your ancestors even saw buffalo.
I told you that 10 minutes ago.
Now chicken or fish.
Fish! Said Daddy’s daughter.
Can I get shark? Daddy asked with anticipation.
You said you have fish.
Might as well have the king of the sea.
Well he was king.
Now he is dinner.
The waitress was dumbfounded.
Men might be men.
But where this man came from.
Men might have started off something else.
But it did not matter.
Because his children looked despondent
Like they went through this before
Or like this happened every thing they went out to eat.
I’ll see what I can do, The waitress replied.
Daddy looked happy.

My poetry is the middle name that is not found in the baby book.
Because it was first the item that was not in the wedding registry.
But people were mad.
They did not have children
They did not participate in the wedding.
Because they were not invited.
No surprise.
These people said you cannot bring a present that is not in the registry.
I said I was not bringing a present, but the present.
I said I was not coming to open wines in open bars, but I would give them my open whines.that open barred.
I was not going to a reception, but I hoped my poetry would get a good reception.
But they told me I was under arrest for disturbing the peace so throw up my hands
They said to swallow my pride, so throw up my hands.
They walked around me and said they would fight me, so throw up my hands
That’s three times they wanted me to raise my fists.
And I only have two fists.

I told them
My poetry is still given to people
Both in books and in registries
It is still a part of a celebration
Of a greater human language.
Because although it is not part of a baby book
Or a wedding registry
It has a birth certificate.
Called Poetry.
It has a drivers license
Called Poetry.
You are so concerned with the beginning
That you forget this poetry still has to live
After Happily Ever After.
After I do.
Comes We are.
I thought about the future
You just thought about a name that my poetry could not pronounce.
And that people would not remember
So when my poetry brings the drive and you are just staring.
Just remember there will be a time when you don’t even have to say his name.

Kris looked at the clock and knew he didn’t have time to mingle.
Because he was Santa Claus also known as Kris Kringle.
Why did he have to go to the office Christmas party?
It was time to get toys to kids, he did not want to be tardy.
Kris tried to argue with his boss, who was having none of it.
It was like the more he talked, the more his boss had a fit.
How could something be mandatory if we don’t have to go.
His boss said with a smile, You don’t have to be there, but you can’t say no.

So Kris found himself at the party, drinking punch and looking for a way out.
He was sure that with all the days he took off looking for toys, he lost his clout.
To make matters worse, someone suggested that there should be an afterparty later.
Another person yelled out in the office that he knew people who could cater.
I have to get out of here, Kris muttered, but his only experience was with chimneys.
There are cookies and milk waiting,  I can't get no more food in me.
So he decided to slip out, but his friend called out, Aww Kris you’re no fun.
Kris went to his car, and looked both ways before putting the keys in the ignition.
It transformed into a sleigh, and Kris Kriegle ripped off his suit.
Santa in all his glory, with the red everything  and the black boots.
As he left he shouted, No more Office Christmas parties! I mean **, **, **!
Because Santa is the giver to gifts to our children, not our office bro!
Michael Kusi Dec 2017
Can we get a round of applause for this occasion?
How we celebrate this day with lights and trees
Reckon that this is the most important time of year
I believe it is the happiest time of the calendar
See the brightness of the lights is blinding
Trees too short to climb and too sharp to touch.
Mistletoe I hope to find with the girl I like under it.
And as we stare, love is certainly in the air
So if we kiss, this season has become so great.

Do I put coal in the stockings of my nephews and nieces
And tell them that Santa did it for them being naughty
Yea that sounds like a good idea, but my aunts and uncles would not be happy.
Michael Kusi Dec 2017
Rudolph woke up to have a red nose
He said That's weird because yesterday I didn’t have one of those.
Rudolph told Santa, My nose can now light the way
Santa said, Don’t be silly, you have a cold, stay home today!
But they made a song about me leading the reindeer with a nose so shiny.
So sing the song, Santa said, and Rudolph tried but his voice was whiny
Santa said See your nose is stuffed, it is best to stay home behind.
So Rudolph went back and Santa wondered who he could find.

He remembered there was a Frosty the Snowman.
But how will he lead a sleigh with no hands?
That’s easy, they could put the reins around his waist
Frosty the Snowman came in and asked about the place
Why are you so concerned, Santa asked, There cannot be coal.
Because it might catch on fire and this heat will eat my soul.
Santa grumbled, So I would have to give every child a present?!
Yup, and could we not go to the warmer Earth regions.
It is called the winter season, and if I go, winter would be seasoned.
The sun will melt me like butter and the whole sleigh will fall.
Santa muttered, You are ruining Christmas, and Frosty said, It’s your call.
All right, all right, Santa said, and Frosty said I got this.

Frosty led the sleigh around Earth and not a house he missed.
But on the way back he got lost, and went to the South Pole.
A polar bear saw them, and was about to eat them with his mouth whole.
Suddenly a figure came by with a sled, and said Get back they belong to me!
It was Santa Clause decked out in his robes and majesty.
He brought them to the North Pole, and everything was good.
Because Christmas was celebrated the way that it should.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
They announced there was an additional day
That would be called the thirteenth day of Christmas
I thought this was very unlucky but I dare not say
But in my head I screamed  no you fools what on earth is this?

Twelve was so good because it was almost biblically stored.
Twelve disciples and the twelve sons of Israel.
But thirteen is so unlucky that it doesn’t even have a floor.
I have to get in touch to someone to appeal.

If I don’t intervene the new last day of Christmas would be January 7.
There should be a room with concerned relatives for people who made it.
Forget a Stairway, I need a telephone line to heaven.
Because I am sure that the people would not be elated.

Then I woke up from my dream, and it was Christmas Eve.
You would not think the crazy events the mind can believe.

Give me my eggnog
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
I checked the day
Sometimes they run together.
But today better be my day.
I put the alert on my phone.
It was December.
The time for eggnog.
If milk and ice cream had a baby
Eggnog would be its child.
And I would be the man
Who would adopt it into me.
Don’t judge.
We all have our vices.
Mine just happened to be a drink
That is made of all the things
You eat for breakfast from the fridge.

So I went to the store.
All happy with excitement.
I probably should not be this excited.
But eggnog only comes once a year.
The time of year for holiday trees.
And caroling.
But I did not come for the tree
I did not come to sing
Give me my eggnog.
It is my gift to myself
I arrived at the store.
I just hope that victory is here.
I mean eggnog.

I went into the store.
And looked at the price.
It was 10 dollars
For a thing of eggnog.
I was shocked and confused
This price hurt my feelings.
I thought how dare you.
The milk did not cost that much.
The ice cream you put in a machine.
Why should I sacrifice Hamilton
He was not even a dollar bill
That was a president.
That’s how you know its one of the important ones.
I left in a huff.

I went to a different store.
Hopefully things would be different.
I looked at the price
It was reasonable this time.
But I looked at the name.
Something seemed wrong.
It said Not-Nog.
I said
Maybe too loud for all to hear
If it is Not-Nog then I’m not buying!
I left that store
Strike two.

I thought this is the last store.
They should have eggnog.
I bought eggnog here last year.
I want the streak to continue.
Then I saw an eggnog
Called West Indian eggnog
I said So the eggnog traveled and came back?!
I decided to buy it
And give some to my cousin as a test.
Not all of it
Because I might want to drink some.
I gave it to my cousin.
I told him it was a new Christmas drink
That was all the rage.
He drank some
And by his expression I did not want to drink.
He seemed, too happy.
So I wrapped it and gave it to him as a early Christmas present.
I guess this year I would have to do without eggnog.
At least my cousin was satisfied.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
Normally after Thanksgiving I just rewatch the parade.
And try to talk my family into playing Christmas charades.
But I wanted to do some early holiday shopping.
And I decided to go do Black Friday and see what was popping.
My nephew said that he wanted the new video game.
I know it was of national fame but I forgot its name.
I said, Don’t worry I got you my nephew.
I will make sure to get a gift that would bless you.

I went to the Walmart and went to stand in line.
But I put on a hoodie because I was ashamed of the time.
Because it was the time of day where I would not be awake.
But I was here to buy presents and not tosteal- take.
So I said that Black Friday would not get the best of me.
And I hoped someone would not see  and think less of me.
Because I would often look at Black Friday on TV and laugh.
Karma must of thought this was extra revenge for me to take this path.

The doors opened, and the rush was like a Mudder race.
And you should have seen the look all up in this brother’s face.
It was a mixture of glee, humor, and I was so terrified.
I was so happy that I made it in one piece here inside.
Mothers were fighting over teddies, but I went for the bigger trophy.
If they didn’t think I would fight for this game, they didn’t know me.
I finally reached the game, but someone snatched it before I could!
She didn’t  look like she played  or had kids who did in the neighborhood.
So it wasn’t even the excuse of I play this game because I have no knees.
I thought I could ask please could I get the game for nephew who has the  diseases.

She put it in her cart, and this action really hurt my heart.
I wanted to get another game, but that would not be smart.
Because if my nephew didn’t like the game, I would be stuck.
But then something happened that told me I have good luck.
The game fell out of her cart and went to the floor too.
I looked around to make sure no one would judge me for what I would do.
I picked it up, because five-second rules did not apply to games.
I paid for it with money, and I left without any shame.

I knew it looked bad, but Black Friday takes away the soul.
I gave it to my cousin, and he said, Did you also get the controls?
I must of forgot in the rush, but I could order it online.
Because I’m sure if I get it in the store, someone would take what was mine.
So I had to return it, because it was also the wrong gaming system.
I vowed never to do Black Friday again, that’s not the lifestyle I’m trying to live in.

I looked outside to the grass
And my heart was delighted.
I said inside Free at last
Because the snow was invited.

I knew it was that appointed time.
For the snow to fall from the sky.
To coat the earth with white grime.
So it could be said, The snowfall viewed I.

But now was the time to shovel.
And I was hoping people would come.
But now I was going to be in trouble.
The shoveling would be done by one.

I took the shovel and went outside.
Lifting the shovel was like weights.
The snow had no where to hide.
But putting it on the grass went great.

Because it is the snow that makes the grass grow.
So the white grime this season is a must.
Believe me when I say this is divine snow.
Because Mount Olympus has fallen on us.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
I am one of the people who was in the crowd.
Who said to **** Jesus, and said it out loud.
I shouted we wanted the thief, who was guilty
When Pilate asked about the Christ, I said **** he!
I also screamed that his blood be on us and our children.
Little did I know that a generation later, they'd be killed for sin.

I am one of the Roman Soldiers, who gave Christ scorn.
He looked with compassion, as I put on him a crown of thorns.
Then I won the garment, and saw that blessing was in its fibers.
Although I did not have a clue Jesus is the risen Messiah.
When he died I said that this was God’s son truly
So why did we have to treat Christ incarnate cruelly.
I just home that one day he can come back to us.
Because before I did not believe but now in Christ I trust.

I am the thief who hung by Christ on my cross.
At first I told Jesus to save us so we would not be lost.
Then I saw that Jesus came to save us from sinful fear.
I accepted Christ before the Roman came with the spear.
After a long while, my soul left myself as I died.
But before I passed, I saw Jesus at God’s right hand side.
Glory be to Jesus, he redeemed me on my deathbed.
I inherited eternal life before I was left dead.

God is my Witness
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
I am the blood of Abel
That cried out to God
From the ground.
Once there was a time
When Abel was living
And able to speak on his own behalf.
That day Abel had to give an offering
To God
Cain, my brother did this
But what he did to me was not familial

Also had to give an offering to our God.
But Cain always seemed angry at God.
He told me one time that God did not love him.
I said that he was being foolish.
God loves us all.
That is why He wants to talk to us.
Cain said, Do I have to talk to God.
I would rather talk to the serpent
At least he fed Mom and Dad.
I was horrified and left.
I never met the serpent.
But he was the reason Mom and Dad
Could no longer stay in the garden
I wondered if Cain had talked to the serpent
But I did not dare ask

I took the finest animals for the sacrifice.
Just like Dad told me to.
Just as Dad taught me to.
I wanted to see the favor of God.
Because I knew one day the Promise would come.
It took time and effort.
The animals were heavy and soaked.
But as last I had the animals ready
For the sacrifice.
Dad would be so proud if he was here.

Cain had his sacrifice ready too.
But it looked, wrong.
That was not the way God said
Or the way Dad taught us.
I hoped God would accept it.
Cain looked with a smirk on his face.
And said that this was the new way to sacrifice.
God looked on my sacrifice with a smile on his face.
I felt blessed.
But with Cain’s sacrifice
I saw a look I had not seen before.
It looked the way Mom said God looked
When he caught them eating the forbidden fruit.
I felt sorry for Cain.
Cain did not look sorry for himself.
Cain walked out angry.
I wanted to chase after him
But I thought better of it
This is best left as a conversation between God and Cain

Later, Cain told me to come, come.
He had a sense of urgency in his voice.
I rushed over.
I saw Cain with a rock in his hands
He held it with two hands
But there was no sacrifice
He came toward me
And raised the rock
I shouted, Cain!
Then I began to speak from the ground.
On this ground they call it ******
And God is my witness.

Creation of a Kind.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
God looked down on his creation.
Adam had just named every living thing.
And every living thing had a soulmate.
But Adam felt, alone.
Adam stared into the waters
But he did not know that his eyes were meant
To meet other eyes in harmony.
Suddenly Adam felt tired.
His eyes felt heavy.
He had to go find a place to lie down
Adam began to walk.
But his leg folded under him
And he went to sleep by the waters.

God came down to earth.
He created an opening in Adam’s side.
Because what Adam needed
Had to come from Adam himself.
It was a rib.
That came from the cage of Adam
Because she is meant to make Adam free.
God took the rib
And closed up Adam
So that Adam could be restored
God’s hands began to fashion woman.
Not from mere clay and water
But from righteous bone.
She would be his helpmate
And someone to fill what Adam was missing.

God then held Eve.
She was God’s most beautiful creation.
Eve did not come from a Word.
Or the dirt underneath the Earth
But from the bone of the living.
God then woke up Adam.
He said, Adam, wake up!
Adam was lying down again.
But this time when he woke up
He had a companion.

It was the first wedding ceremony.
And the couple was excited.
God was both father and pastor.
He walked the bride to Adam.
The angels in heaven were the wedding guests.
Adam did not have to give a ring
Because he gave a rib for Eve
Then God stood between Adam and Eve
God said to Adam, You may kiss the bride.
I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Adam and Eve embraced.
They were in each other arms.
The waters captured the wedding in pictures
Too good to be described by words.
They then went on a honeymoon
In the garden of paradise.

The Creation of Likeness
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
God then proclaimed
Over all of his creation
Let us make man in our image
After our likeness.
To look like us
And to like what we like
To be like we be.
God took the dirt from the earth
And mixed it with the waters.
Until he had a form.

But God needed more than a form
Because this was a house of worship
And a house of worship
Needed a congregation of the spirit.
But God was the spirit this house needed
A body without a life is just a scene
And it was time to bring this man into the land of the living.
God breathed, out
The breath was cool and refreshing
The breath went through the form’s nostrils
So he could smell God’s creation
To Adam’s mouth
So he could speak the things of God
So he could give the worship the angels could not
This breath was the wind flowing from the soul of God
A piece of Jehovah he wanted to give to his choicest creation
For man to keep
And for man to live on

The breath of God then arrived to Adam’s belly
To fill a hunger that Adam would have.
It finally came to his legs
Adam’s toes stirred.
God then stepped back
To admire his creation.
This was more than good
It was man
Adam lay there
God shouted, Adam arise!
Adam then got up from his knee.

My name is Eve
Mother of all living
God created me to live in his garden
I was made from the rib of man
Bone of bone and flesh of flesh
God said to eat free
Of every tree in this garden
Except for one tree
That would be a downfall

I was standing by the tree one day
Looking at its branches
Seeing its fruit
When I heard a voice
He said come here, come here
I turned around
And saw a creature
I wish I did not
I really wish I walked away
I should have ran away
To the other side of the garden
The only other voices I knew
Were that of Adam and God
I am the mother of all living
But I was not this creature’s mother

I walked to him
This creature was on four legs
Like a dog
But he could talk, like me
So I thought we could have a conversation
I could tell him about the garden
And not to eat the fruit
He could be a friend
And I could show him to God
Little did I know
He was no friend

This creature asked me a question
Based on what God said
I knew the answer
Because God told me himself
It was one of those times
When God’s voice was frightening
Don’t eat the fruit
Don’t eat the fruit
Did he also say not to touch?
I think so
Better safe than sorry
I should have asked God
About what he said
But I misspoke
I told him, We can’t eat
Or touch
Lest we die

The creature told me
Or rather lied to me
He said in soothing tones
You will not die
Because God did not tell the truth
If you eat the fruit
If you have the courage
To take the fruit in your hands
And digest it into your belly
You will be God!
The garden will be yours!
Not to take care of
But to take over
You will be the higher power

The fruit looked so shiny and good
The creature touched the tree
And said, See I am not dead
He then took the fruit
And sneered, Not dead yet!
Eat, eat eat!
I could not resist
I took the fruit from the creature’s hand
And I smelled it
It smelled, different
It looked even better in my hand
I took a bite
I wish I could have unbit the fruit
I should have put it back.
Suddenly my world had changed
EVE!
Then I saw Adam.

I told Adam
This fruit is pleasant to the nostrils
And goes down to the belly
I feel a power
That was not there before
God has deprived us
And kept the fruit that he eats to himself
But I have discovered it
And when we eat the fruit
We will be like God
And not under him
I sounded like the creature
The fruit had warped my thinking
I gave Adam my fruit
The fruit I had bitten
Because we were in this together
As two of a kind
He looked at the fruit
Then he took a bite
OH NO!
WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!

The Promise is not dead.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
Adam and Eve were in the cave.
Sadness had taken hold over their hearts.
They had just discovered Abel’s
Lifeless body.
The first ******.
And Adam and Eve knew who did it.
It was Cain.
And Eve had a word to say about it.
I told you to keep an eye on Cain
She shouted with all her might
The cave shook with her anger.
Sadness had turned to rage.
Yesterday they had two sons.
Now they had none.

Eve continued
Because once she started she could not be stopped
And Adam knew that.
Eve pointed at Adam
Cain looked at me with the same eye
That the serpent did when he told me to eat the fruit.
Something was in that boy
Or rather someone……
She stopped there.
Eve could not bear the thought.

Adam sat down in a daze.
He had tried to teach Cain
The word of God
But Cain’s mind was always elsewhere.
Cain liked to take care of the plants.
Like Adam did in the garden.
Adam thought they had bonded.
But Cain did not want to hear
About the Lord God of heaven
He said with a sneer
If God was so good why did he kick us
Out of the Garden
Adam had to stop talking
Because it was stirring up feelings
That Adam would rather not acknowledge

Abel was, different.
Adam then replied to Eve
Abel is with God now.
Abel.
So trusting.
Until the end
Tears formed in Adam’s eyes
And he said, We may not see him again
But God will.

Eve then walked around and picked up a rock
And smashed it to the ground.
She screamed, “And who is supposed to be the Promise now?”
The Promise,
The one that God said was coming to bruise the heel
Of the one that deceived them.
Adam said, He deceived Cain too.
Cain went to be with his God.
And Abel went to be with his God too.
The Promise will come.
Because God will provide.
It would be on everyone’s lips in the Bible.

Eve was comforted.
But tears still watered her face.
She missed Abel
All she knew that day was that it was the sacrifice
That Abel and Cain had to give to God.
And Abel came to her happy
Because God had accepted his sacrifice
Eve asked, What about Cain?
Silence impregnated the moment.
Eve now wishes she would have followed up.
Abel said he was going out to meet Cain
His brother.
Abel left.
And Eve would never see him again.

Adam said, “Now we have to bury our son.”
I don’t even know what to call what happened.
This must be the death that God said
Would come to us when we left the Garden
Eve replied in tears, There has to be hope.
Adam said, The covenant is still there
Between us and our God
And even though one of our sons in the grave.
A son shall come to us
Who will be the Promise.
Eve looked happy
Because now there was hope.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
It’s Adam
The father of mankind
Today I saw the price of eating the fruit
And I saw death in his eyes
And viewed ****** in my son

I was going out to see my sons Abel and Cain
To ask them how the sacrifice was
And how the face of God looked
I hoped they looked forward to seeing God
As much as I did
I wanted them to experience God for themselves
I was not prepared for what I was about to see
No one could be

I saw Cain on his knee
With a rock by his hand
The rock was full of blood
But there was no sacrifice around
And Cain normally gave the fruit of the land
So I was puzzled
And to my horror
Abel was lying on the floor
Like he was asleep
But he was not asleep
And did not make a sound
Abel was still
The way a sacrifice would be
After we had killed it…. Oh no!

CAIN!
What happened?
Cain got up slowly
And said
The words came out so fast
A wild animal attacked me and Abel
And I had to save myself……
I raised my hand as a father
Cain, stop lying to me
Lying is bad for our language
It gets put onto its belly
What happened to your brother
He snarled at me
And turned his face away
When he looked at me
I recognized that face
But I never thought I would see it again
It was the face of the serpent
After God told him he was cursed
To go on his belly.

Cain shouted
And threw up his hands
Like I told your God
I am not my brother’s keeper
We were just born to Mother
This is our only bond
But the bond is no more
I was shocked at such words
But I slowly realized
Exactly what Cain did to his brother
Cain was not the Promise
Cain was against the Promise!
He was the……child of the snake
Sent to fight the Promise

I stepped closer
I saw, something on Cain’s head
What is that?
That was not there yesterday
I pointed and said to Cain
What is that mark on your head?
Did you fall?
Cain sneered at me
I could feel his contempt
Fall? No!
Your God put his hands on me
And touched this to my head
The pain almost killed me
But your God did not
Because he is weak
Now no man can **** me
Or he would be cursed worse than me
Now I am free
And I don’t have to follow your God
God himself cannot **** me
Man does not have the power to
It is like when you ate the fruit.
So much good has come out of
Abel being no more

I replied curtly Get Out
Leave my presence
You are not my son
My son is dead and his life is on the ground
I never want to see your face again
If you come back
That mark will not save you
Because I will take on that other curse
And God help me
If he cannot **** you
I certainly can
So you will be no more
Cain started running
And I was left alone with Abel
I cannot tell Eve what happened
This is the worst day
Since the day I was kicked out of the garden.
The Promise never seemed farther away
God help us all.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
The world is playing football against us
Without a helmet.
Because it says that it wants to be seen.
And people cannot see its face
With a helmet on.
To make matters worse
The world thinks that we should be that crazy.
We say we should take advantage.
Of a unprotected world
That is out for us.
So we put on our helmets.
And our pads.
And our cleats.
Because it makes us run faster.
And the world says we are cheating.
We say cleats are for winners.
We say we are only following the rules.
Because the object of the game is not merely toughness
The goal of the game is victory.
But victory is nothing.
If I am too battered to enjoy.
Playing with a helmet is good.
Playing without a helmet is a death wish.
So world.
We are the Grim Reaper.
Get ready because we are coming.

Mary went to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth said that she was blessed.
And Mary began to give praise to God above.
Because the blessing of God sparks praise
In all of us.
Mary said that this was God’s promise to her forefathers.
Made in the house of fleshly man.
Which contained God in all his authority.
So all she could do was give thanks to God.

Zachariah was asked
By the people who were around him
What is the name of your child
Who was just born?
But he could not speak.
How could a man name his child
The most sacred of duties
With no tongue.
He would have to write it down.
And Zachariah did.
He wrote- His name is John.
And instantly his tongue was loosened from the ******* of silence.
Zachariah could speak again.
He praised God.
This child.
And the child of Mary
Would go on to do ministry together.

The angels in heaven.
Told God, It is our turn.
The father of the prophet has praised.
The mother of the Son of Man has praised too.
Even the prophet worships your holy name
From the comfort of the belly-sanctuary
He can conceive of your glory
And he is not yet conceived.
Let us praise in all our elegance.
Because you are the great and dreadful God.
Keeping the covenant because you love us.
God told them to proceed.
And they came down to Earth
The first mass choir.
An angelic host too numerous to be counted.
And only God knew all of their names.
They said Glory to God
Because favor had come from heaven to earth.
And when the angels went back to heaven.
We continued their praise to God above.
On Christmas and forevermore.

Divine Journey
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
God glanced toward earth on his throne and announced It is The Appointed Time
Time for kingdom-governance to reside on His shoulders, His glory, His crown
Time for Earth to find redemption because of the redemption that will find Earth.
Jesus ascended from the innermost knowledge of God to kneel beside the throne.
The Word flew forth to face the Father from the fertile belly of the Godhead.
The same way John would leap-dance in his mother’s womb.
The same way the God-babe would spring forth out of Mary’s essence
This Cornerstone cried, I have come to comfort your chosen until creation ceases.
Like the Spirit of God violently rested on the water-face in the beginning.
All Mankind shall praise Abba for the Advocate’s assignment as another Adam.
Jesus jumped as millions of wings watched for his new mission as the Son of Man.
The backside of Jehovah preached to a star, Announce to the world, I AM is here.
God instructed Gabriel, Tell Mary that I have found favor in her for a mission
You will be offspring-inhabited by the Holy Spirit and give birth to the God-babe.
Don’t fret what names to name the child, this child has a name above all names
Call him by his mission, Emmanuel because he is the Word made flesh among us.
The wise men discovered the star that God addressed in the sky by his Word.
This star’s altar-call on the glory-pulpit of the heavens is follow God, follow God
This star from bright-morning heaven said heaven gave us the bright-morning star
These men went to see the God-babe, but God knew something was very wrong.
God warned his angel, I sense the spirit of ****** crouched near Herod
It entices to spill the life-blood of the God-babe, innocent blood, divine blood.
So Logos won’t grow to donate the holy blood of God’s Son on Golgotha’s cross
Elohim’s messenger exhorted in men’s dreams to flee Herod, they went elsewhere
God journeyed to sacred places, His sacred places directed my journey to God
So that the holy could touch the redeemed and all of us could be saved.

I feel the way Kryptonite does when it looks at Superman.
All of Superman’s abilities
And he still have not figured out the Kryptonite problem.
What I face may have abilities.
But I will be the problem that they can’t solve.
I Know that when I am there
I can overcome any obstacle.
Because I don’t have to touch my obstacle
To affect my surroundings.
Just as Superman does not have to touch kryptonite
He just has to be around it.
When I remove myself from the situation
My problems leave by themselves.
Because they know my power.
Like when Kryptonite is removed.
Superman is not there for long
Because he knows that Kryptonite might come back.
While Batman laughs at him in the background.

All I wanted
Was to be the blue crayon.
But they said
That I could not.
Because they were painting sunsets
They were painting the moonlight.
They wanted me to be red.
They wanted me to be orange.
They even said I could be yellow.
But no blue.

I said that the blue crayon
Is in the box for a reason.
And I will take up that cause.
Because you just want to draw moments.
I want to highlight seasons.
Because every day needs my color
It is most of the time
So it should be most of the page.
Although every day ends with your colors
Every day starts with mine.
And my blue essence only grows as time goes on.

You would be more than a queen to me
You would be the whole game.
The board with whom I would never be bored.
The one around I put all the pieces

So I could be up front with you.
Although There would be no pawns in this game.
So when I make moves

Because even at the end.
When I got captured
It was by you.

Build-a-Hero Workshop
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
Some people honestly think
That there is a Build-a-Hero workshop.
A store that they can go to.
And all of their heroes are on the wall.
The ones they like right at the window.
So that these people can say.
I’ll have this hero right here.
With these qualities
Yeah, give me charisma
And honesty
And good looks
And the gift of words.
But don’t give me struggle
Don’t give me pain.
I already have that.
I don’t need a hero with flaws
That I see in myself.
That would make them real.
I can't have a hero with flaws
That I don't approve of.

So they take the hero to pay for them.
They give them a sugarcoat.
And the cashier looks at them.
And takes their card
But tells them that it is insufficient funds
Because they cannot afford this hero.
No one has that amount of money
Such people don’t exist.
But if they want this hero to be real
They should look in their everyday lives
And at the actual lives of their heroes
To take the sugarcoat off
So that they are free to admire those who inspire
Because there is no inspiration without pain.
And no pain without struggle
But the struggle they endured
Bring our heroes closer to us.

Writing Superpower
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
If I was a superhero
Writing would be my superpower.
It makes me see with the extra vision.
Gives me strength for the day.
Because my style is like a computer
In the era of typewriters
Because I’m the type of writer who would breathe words to live
They asked what type of blood I have and I said Writer’s type.
My terms are up like a president who served eight years.
So now others can see what I brought here.
But I did not just come here for your approval.
I approached this from a deeper place.
If your attention is mine.
I assure you that my creativity will be yours.

Fortress of Solitude
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
My ancestors left words to teach for my empire.
So when I talk someone shouts you're preaching to the choir.
I have to wear protective gear when I reach for this fire.
Because I came to this place from my native home.
Poetry took me in until I was strong and fully grown.
I wanted to know from where I came, my very name.
Then Poetry showed me a fortress called solitude.
She was mad I ate all the food but I was in a jolly mood.
So when I started to press buttons, suddenly my stress wasn’t.
I knew that me and this fortress of solitude would be best cousins.
Laptop, Notepad, Cellphone, this fortress takes many phrases.
Depending on my locations it still makes plenty praises.
I was uncertain of this place, but this is now my residence.
As this poetry is to me, the White House is to presidents.
So after a hard day’s work, I can come and retreat here.
And secrete tears, this fortress of solitary write where I defeat fear.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
My hands are pregnant with poetry.
Words and phrases formed in its belly.
And now it is time.
The due date was a month ago.
It is an act of labor.
I kept trying.
And I had to open myself.
To people who I did not know.
Then the poetry was finally pulled out.
And a doctor slapped me.
Not with a ticket
Those are police you are thinking about
And not on my back side.
But we slapped hands
Together in unity
Because he said he finally got
Why I wrote poetry
Because at first it was inside of me.
And now what I had
Is the world’s to enjoy.

Thunder is heard
Because lightning is coming.
When a shot leaves
It makes people react.
My voice will be heard
Because I have arrived.
And I am here to stay.
I may have been through a lot.
But what was in me is more than I have been through.
So if you come to meet.
Consider it a blessing
Because you have seen a man
Who should not have been there
But because there is a plan
I am here to greet you in the flesh.
And when I leave
Be sure that I would have made an impact
That was not there before.

I went to Dunkin Donuts.
Just to get some ice
I had purchased a drink from another store.
That was not so cold.
This was a cold move by this store
If only their sodas were cold
So I asked the cashier for some ice in a cup, please.
The cashier said, One dollar.
I was shocked.
This disgraced my forefathers.
A dollar for a cup of ice?!
I could get water from the sky
Put it in the fridge
And I would have ice, for free.
But I needed ice now.
And to do some work.
So I asked what is the wi-fi password
The cashier also said
And I quote
Wi-fi is for customer use only.
Now my forefathers are desecrated.
I told him I would take my business elsewhere
Where I don’t have to pay for wi-fi
Or ice.
That elsewhere was home.
And my fridge can supply all my needs.
My forefathers can breathe again.
I did not give in to the pressure.

I'll be here
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
I’ll be here
When the seasons and the snow and the holidays say I should arrive.
Because when it is the time of lights and reindeer and birth scenes
Is the time I should announce my presence.
And come to where you reside
Bearing gifts after a long journey.
Then we can take a sip of the eggnog
And another one of cider
We can sit around and sing Christmas carols
And not know half the words
It is ok, because we are the only ones to hear
Then look outside and see a white Christmas
The snow coming to rest after a long journey
Just as we have come from all that we were.
Both physical and spiritual locations
And just like that we have to say goodbye
We should do this again
But we know the next date is the next time
The Earth makes its yearly run around the Sun.
That is a day we can look forward to.
As our tradition

My dreams are a music album
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
My dreams are an album
That play so sweet and true
The only problem is I have to put them
Through Life
And life is television
That does not take CD’s
Because it has its own programming
And shows with music.

So when I listen to that melody
I find that it is better than my dreams.
But I keep the album anyway
Just in case I find a CD player
That could hold all of my dreams anyway.
Because someone said I have to choose
Between the album of my dreams
And the programming that plays music
I told them
It’s not a choice
Because the dreams I have
Is on a album that is out-of print
So you don’t see vision like that anymore.
So I will keep both.
Because each has its time.

The Orange Juice is Mine
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
I went downstairs.
I wanted orange juice.
Not grape juice
Not apple juice
But sweet, sweet, orange juice.
The type that I get from oranges.
Not manufactured in some factory.
Im talking to you, Hi-C
Sunny Delight is not even in this conversation
I went to the fridge.
I stubbed my toe,
And fell down the stairs.
This orange juice better be worth it.
Luckily my tongue was spared.
It was dark
Forgive me for what happened.
I took a box
Of what appeared to be orange juice
And drank it from the box
Like it was meant to be.
Cups are for guests.
This box is mine.
Instantly I jumped back.
It was the shock of my life.
This did not taste like orange juice
It did not taste like victory.
It tasted like something died.
It was like……. Spoiled milk.

Immediately I grabbed a cup.
Cup I need you now
Sorry I neglected you.
I got some water and began washing out my tongue.
You betrayed me, milk.
And now you have to pay.
I want you gone.
So I threw it in the garbage.
Then I remembered it was in the fridge downstairs.
This time I took a flashlight.
Im not making the same mistake twice.
I learned my lesson.
I then found the orange juice.
It was like receiving the fountain of youth.
Oh orange fountain.
I drank it all
Filled and refreshed.
I was very happy.

You will offend the voices.
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
The realtor came to me and tried to show me the house.
But from the time he met me, the meeting went south.
I stumbled on the steps, and hurt my bigger toe.
The porch looked like a residence for a male ******.
The realtor told me that the first owner did not want to go.
I asked where he was, and the realtor said he’s buried six feet below.
But he made it a haunted house, because he said if I cant have it no one can.
I said that sounds crazy, and then the realtor said you haven’t even met the man.
I stepped inside the house, and immediately wished I did not go past the main deck
Because it did not look like a house, it looked like a bad trainwreck.
I said to the realtor that I was leaving, and he said to check out the upstairs.
But of the nature of the house I was caught completely unawares.
I walked up the steps, and instantly it made me regret my life choices.
I said I wanted to leave and the realtor said that you will offend the voices.
I asked what voices, and the realtor replied I have spoken too much.
I left the house in a hurry, and the realtor yelled that there was no rush.
I got to my home and quickly took a shower to wash away the experience.
Because I never went to a house that had such bad virulence.

Wannabe Baller
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
Wannabe claimed from a young age he was meant to play pro basketball.
Even though he wasn’t strong, couldn’t jump high, and couldn’t go fast at all.
He tried to shoot foul shots at the park but he just shot foul.
When someone would bump him he was mad he didn’t get calls.
Wannabe would flop so much people watching said he was trying to audition.
And he would shoot the mid range jumper as if he was going fishing.
See, Wannabe played on the varsity team in high school  but his uncle was the coach.
And he would not listen to people who told him he had the wrong approach.
Wannabe attacked the basket like it stole something, but he would miss the shot.
His shooting form  on the basketball looked like he hurt his wrist a lot
Because Wannabe  would shoot the ball almost from his side.
And when Wannabe did not make it in it was like someone had died.
Because Wannabe said the rims was tilted and his friend said his shot was tilted.
Now Wannabe doesn’t talk to that friend anymore because he felt jilted.
Rebounding was a foreign concept to Wannabe and defense  did not know his game.
So when he had to guard someone it was like a free basket because there was an open lane.
Wannabe did not get steals or blocks, because he said that those were not points.
And when somebody scored on him, Wannabe said it was because of his aching joints.
But Wannabe is in the park, because he thinks one day he will be in the NBA.
But the time that he would get signed seems like an eternity away.

Classroom Sneeze
Michael Kusi Nov 2017
I sneezed in class and the whole class looked at me.
Achoo was the anthem that people could not just let be.
They looked at me as if I had offended their lineage
I could see that my entire class wanted to cringe
To make it worse I had to let off a small cough.
Cah-Cah was the sound my mouth let all off.
Afterwards I stuttered in trying to explain
I wish all this noise were killed by my brain
Because these sounds were better left inside of my jaw.
I heard he-he, and ha-ha, and the dreaded whoooooop and raaaah.
I then heard the squeak squeak of my teachers shoe.
I was sure she wanted to ask me what is wrong with you.
And you shouldn’t go back to class until forever is done.
But she told me in a kind voice to get up and come
She handed me a napkin and said to use this instead.
And then asked me a question based on the assignment I read.

Brad called Joe in.
Brad said, I saw you kissing my daughter
This isn’t kiss my daughter at work day
Its just work day
Joe replied, YOU can kiss my big naked-
For those who don’t know, its where the sun refuses to shine.
