It's an act of manipulation
manipulation of a whole nation
nation built on bad foundation
foundation of lies and discrimination
discrimination that led to creation
creation of all this devastation
devastation leading to mutation
mutation that's based on frustration
frustration of those in anticipation
anticipation of expiration
expiration of our habitation
habitation that needs adoration
adoration of a dream

as I lay awake
i've drank for days
today will mark 11
and its sad to say
that no matter what
its the only time im ever happy
some may think that im giggly and sweet
but when i lay asleep
my mind eats at me
every second every hour every day
it never goes away
so i deal with it in a less harmful way
than to live in a puddle of every self inflicted bruise
clawing as though it gives me life
worshiped as a savior
but hurting like a demon
I know that I will burn

And when fate pitted the two colliding
gods in battle, the outcome
was what you'd expect:

both rising up from
the cracked asphalt, one light
the other dark, one evil the other
misplaced, the earth split apart
and the trees bowed their heads
in silence for the figure
laying on the ground with a glock 9
bullet in his temple and a smashed
candy bar in his palm.

How senseless
the war between ideas, between
wrong and inconclusive. That afternoon
morality
was a crow frying itself
on a power line.
Common decency and respect
were lost tourists who
couldn't speak the native tongue.

And now, in the wake of the colossal battle,
the entire country washes its
hands in blood and pauses to weep
for the martyrs
who continually rise and fall for
nothing.
After following the Zimmerman case for a few days, I felt compelled to write this poem. An unarmed teenager is dead from a form of domestic terrorism concealed as rightist ideology.

You have no idea.
How much you mean to me.
And every word you say.
Can take my breath away.
But you don't seem to realize.
That there are tears forming in my eyes.
Because you never seem to look.

Today I woke up angry
And by the time I feel better it'll be too late to save me
While the voice on the TV sang the
******* reasons why they think I did it.

I got my snap back turned back
Ready to make a head snap back
When I let my rifle crack
Everyone will know I did it.

They will say I am mentally ill
When they were the ones who gave me the **** pill
Wrote depression as the cause on the itemized bill
Then send my *** out for another refill.

They turned the neighborhood into a war zone
When the cops came to my home
I would have come freely had they phoned
Instead they had guns drawn, ready to unload.

Hook me up to a gurney
Stick me with a poison needle to send me on my final journey
While a group of people look upon me
Never once believing my story.

The truth is, the bullet was meant for my own head
But I got scared and pointed it at the window instead
I shot a three year old girl as she slept in her bed
When it was my own life I wanted to end.

Today I woke up angry
Today is the day they are going to hang me
The death knell sings all around me
Life's final reminder of the ******* reasons I gave not to live it.
