We, after years,
run into each other in the deli
you with your children,
I with none,
exchanging pleasantries
and introductions
and effusive promises to keep in touch.
You tell me about your burgeoning family,
but I do not hear you --
your voice is a static of statistics:
ages, birthdates, soccer victories, grade point averages...

As you talk
all I can think about
is the pale blush of your *******
and the little row of sweet kisses
I left between them
so long ago.

If I said I want you,
Would you run and tell the stars
To close their eyes and ring dry
The clouds of tears?

If I said let me hold you,
Would the earth crack open,
To shudder the rolling lands,
Not cradle the hatching seeds?

If I said I am yours,
Would your name soon dissolve
And be lost in the revolving
Night that candles you in light?

If I heard your voice,
In twining dream and woke
Beside you talking in your sleep
What would your question be?

If I called your name,
Before the first sunning year
And heard you, Echo in the wind,
Would time guide us to the door?

seek stars in a moonlit night
free my skin on the seashore
radically paint fragments of soul discovery
in the rarest, most deepest ocean
throwing my thoughts underwater
mind as blue as my emotions
poetry as sandcastles in my eyes
music so pure, the ocean breeze sounds
and majestic art of living in cosmic presence as meditation to an undying spirit.

Banishing darkness
Spreading light over the land
Golden glow supreme

I never knew we would bond instantly
From "just being friends" to "more than just friends"
Why did it even happen
I hope there'll be a time that we'll know why

I want to hold your hand so I won't let you go
I want to wrap you around my arms to keep you warm
I want to kiss you to comfort you from hurting
I want to hug you to protect you from harm

I mean what I say
I don't want to sugarcoat the reality
They may not notice what you've been through
But I do, believe me
