Your just in time, class is starting
Oh no this is not geography or math
It's a class on how to truly love
A subject these days we all need to pass

There is still seating available
Of course we'll add more if there's a need
And don't worry about the money
As Loves lessons are always free

That, I'm glad you asked
No you can't take this class online
As there's a need for interaction
After all this isn't a class on Like

So there really is no excuse
For not learning all you can on Love
Of course it is all up to you
On really just how much

It does have its share of homework
And showing up daily is a must
It won't do for you to skip this class
When learning the lessons of Love

So come on in and have a seat
Oh and look your in luck
You can sit right next to me
There's two seats right up front

The path of love that I am on
Is neither envious nor boasts
Not resentful or irritable
With patience and kindness as stepping stones

Does not rejoice in all that's wrong
But only in the truth
Does not insist in its own way
Neither arrogant nor rude

Bares all things, this path of love
Hopes, believes, endures
A never ending journey
This journey into love

in your search for loves perfection

either near or far

take a stand with heart in hand

at the moment where you are
Mike Hauser Aug 2020
From the very top
Let's start this off
With happily ever after

And from the moment here
Make the way clear
For the sound of Loves Pitter Patter

Moving far beyond
The ache of alone
To one of joy and laughter

Born with a need
For sweet relief
To the sound of Loves Pitter Patter

There's a ray of hope
We all hope to know
In the realm of things that matter

Leaving you with this
Do your best to not miss
The sound of Loves Pitter Patter

I was handed a questionnaire
And asked to fill it out the best I could
With #2 pencil in hand
I saw the questions were on love

I've never once questioned my love for you
I've studied hard, I've studied well
That's why the first box I marked off as true
When asked if I'd give you all of myself

It asked things like would it be alright
If I held you tight the rest of your life
I marked that box all of the above
Cause isn't that what you do for love

It then asked if love was meant to last
It talked of the future in view of the past
That question was adorned in essay form
I filled up one page but could have filled two more

I started off by writing
True love only looks straight ahead
The past is past, no need looking back
And should be buried along with the dead

Which means if you dig it up enough
The only thing it does is stink
And the buried past really has
No place in loves company

Once I got through the questionnaire
I felt good about the fact
I had honestly answered all the questions there
As I handed my #2 pencil back

From the multiple choice to the true and false
Along with the final essay
I folded it up, brought it home to you my love
For the final grade

Love keeps knocking at my door
Just like a witness for Jehovah
Wanting me as its latest victim

It keeps trying its very best
In my face, so direct
Telling me I don't know what I'm missing

I keep peaking out the blinds
Hoping it'll go away in time
But love never seems to give up

Sometimes it comes with a disguise
Its true identity it tries to hide
But you can't fool me, I know it's love

I wonder how it found out where I am
For years now I've been on the lamb
It's almost like its carrying some sort of torch

While love's hanging out in front
Keeping up with its relentless hunt
I go and sneak out the back door

And once again I'm on the run
From the chasing down of love
It's all to familiar of a scene

But just when it is I least expect
Love steps round the corner, grabs my hand
Guess love was bound to eventually catch me

If I could go back in time

The first thing I would do

Is take every line from all loves rhymes

And give them all to you

I fix your breakfast every morning before I go to work
I set your favorite channel on the T.V.
Last thing I butter the toast before I go
Cause I know you don't like your bread soggy

I think of calling you but I know better
You never would pick up the phone
What could I say besides I miss you anyways
And is this the sadness that makes us alone

I make it home just in time for dinner
And again set out those two empty plates
The conversation is light, guess you know why
I watch the news then go to bed because it's late

In the morning I get up and do it all again
I make sure your eggs are warm and your juice is cold
I've followed this routine for several years going
A routine that is as young as it is old

I pick up my satchel, head back to work
Ready for another long grueling day
It's you I think about more often than not
Which helps to pass the time away

Back home again in time for dinner
As I wonder what it is you would eat
I try to fix what you would like most every night
Since I'm not to concerned about me

Because it's been five years now that you've been gone
Seems only yesterday we placed you in the grave
How fast the time has gone, wish your were still here at home
Then and only then would I know what to say

Shops are closing down
On Love Street

Because no one comes around
On Love Street

No traffic and no sound
On Love Street

What will we all do now
Without Love Street

She takes all the I love you's she has saved
Tossing them gently to the wind
In hope's they make someone's day
And then blow back her way again

You can use a heavy blindfold
Tie it to a chair
Throw it in a waiting trunk
Take it far from here

Ask it out fishing with you
Miles away from shore
Grab it when its back is turned
Toss it overboard

Hope against hope
That it'll give up the ghost
But love for loves sake
Will always make its way back home

You can climb the highest mountain
Push it off a cliff
Peer over to the bottom
Watch it as it hits

Place it in a rocket
Shoot it to the moon
While it's up in orbit
Pack your stuff and move

Though you would think by now
That by now you'd know
Love will always find a way
To make its way back home

Take it to the wild side of town
Sell it to the gypsies
Whisper underneath your breath
Hope that you don't miss me

When the weather's cooler
Take it to the fair
While in the house of mirrors
Leave its reflection there

Even when it's stranded
Left to shiver in the cold
Love in all its wonder
Will make its way back home

Where went the days
We had things to say
While others sat back and listened

May not have agreed
But still felt the need
That time should be equally given

Unto both sides
Whether they're wrong or right
We should all be afforded our opinion

Without one another
Screaming at each other
One thing we seem to be missing

Make it make sense
Shouldn't we live and let live
No matter the side you are on

We should after all
Adhere to the goal
Of trying to all get along

Look closely and see
We basically have the same needs
Where we all just want to be loved

Which brings on the point
In our needs and our wants
Shouldn't love after all be enough

To bring us together
In hard times or pleasure
It really shouldn't be that tough

To turn things around
No matter how far down we've allowed
I'll say it again; it's got to be love

aren't we to
love our neighbor
treat each other
much the same
because we need
one another
not run for cover
when placing blame

aren't we to
love our neighbor
not for favors
not for gain
and to
treat each other
as we would have them
do the same

aren't we to
love our neighbor
as our maker
paves the way
bringing blessings
both now and later
layer upon layer
in Jesus' name

Love yourself

If you don't
Then who else

Love yourself

It wouldn't take much
To do it now

Love yourself

People will follow
Is there any doubt

Love yourself

I hope and pray
You figure it out

Love yourself

How ever you can
I hope somehow

Love yourself

Love me with a reason
Love me like you mean it
Love me hot as summer
While winter is in season

Love me like a new day
A day without the heartache
Love me in your savings
More give than you could ever take

Love me as in a parade
Love me like you're saying grace
Love me with a memory
The very best that you can make

Love me like your lost is found
Beyond the shadow of a doubt
Love me when the secrets told
The moment that you find it out

Love me with a made up mind
Love me like a childs night light
The comfort that it brings at night
That only time can truly find

Love me like it's all brand new
Love me with loves lasting truth
Love me in all that you do
Like I'm loving you

Some go through life never knowing their meaning
Of why they are here or what they should do
Yet the moment we met you're the way I've been leaning
When I found my meaning is in loving you

Some struggle with choice in the choices they're given
Thinking there must be more to life than this
Circling about in self doubt is how they are living
But I knew I'd be fine the first time we kissed

When something feels right you stop, going no further
Anything beyond that are just steps of a fool
There's no looking back when you find your wonder
Knowing my meaning is in loving you

Some paint in a fog, never seeing the picture
All black and white where no color is found
Early in life I can attest that I've been there
Until the day I found myself on your solid ground

Some go through life not knowing their meaning
With no idea of what they should do
Lucky for me from the beginning I've been winning
When I found my meaning is in loving you

Well ain't that lipstick lucky

To be riding on your lips

Always in mid-pucker

Sharing in your kiss

Ruby red in color

Bright in wonderment

Yes, that's some lucky lipstick

Riding on your lips

When we first met
I felt the stars align
So I placed my bet
That day you would be mine

I took your hand
Leading you across the sky
Over sea and land
Into our special time

It can be said
That I am yours and you are mine
Where I owe a debt
To those stars when they aligned
Mike Hauser Dec 2015
The spleen can be a peculiar thing
Riding high just above the jeans
When it no longer serves its purpose
And the doctors say that it must leave

Oh how the spleen once stood so proud
With the vertebrates in the local crowd
Now we give it the old collage wave
As the doctors toss it out

Where it goes nobody knows
To spleen heaven? Do they have those?
If all dogs go to heaven
Then with spleens we can only hope

That one day we will reunite
With our missing spleens in paradise
If you ask me that sounds real nice
I just hope they keep it on ice
I have a friend that her mother is being operated on tomorrow...removal of the spleen. Thought it called for a good (that's debatable) poem.
P.S. My friend loved it...not sure about her mother.

Newly arriving in love, Luna Eve
December's sweet gift brought about on a smile
As heaven releases this tiny angel
Beautiful now this day will be called

Who could envision such a state of perfection
When gazing into the eyes of this child
The purity of life in this treasure
The complexity deep in her smile

There is a crispness new to this morning
The sun brighter than it's ever been seen
Joy of the heart singing with laughter
All brought on by sweet, Luna Eve
Just had a friends daughter give birth and named the newly born sweetness Luna Eve...
Had to write something with a cool hippie name like that!

Lydia loves the Lord...

Sees no reason not
Takes him at his word
Through battles being fought
The Spirit in her testifies
The God of Love
Is the giver of life
And that is why

Lydia loves the Lord...

Still sometimes she's afraid
Of the world that's just outside
And what it would make her give away
People speak in whispers
But she won't answer in kind
To make it through this life
And that is why

Lydia loves the Lord...

Knows it's worth the fight
Wise beyond her years
Beauty holds her tight
In and out is clear
A blessing she is here
As clear as day and night
And that is why

Lydia loves the Lord...
A beautiful soul I met on this site and am proud to call her friend.

Come first thing in the morning
I'm replacing every thing with machines
Nothing will be hid, first go the wife and the kids
Then next in line all of my friends

I haven't had the much of a problem
But then again things ain't been too smooth
Back talk I don't need and opinions certainly
If you were me, seriously what would you do

I hear they love to do your bidding
And most machines are built to please
I'll even have one say "Gazuntite"
On occasions when I happen to sneeze

I'll have one that's always in the kitchen
Another in the laundry washing my clothes
As I'm watching T.V. one that's right next to me
So it can kindly hand me the remote

And if I'm ever in need of conversation
I'll have a machine that listens to every word said
Another that laughs, one too that cleans up my mess
And a shinny one that just nods its head

I guarantee first thing in the morning
This is going down so bring it on
The only problem I find is the slight one with my mind
As I barely know how to use my smart phone
Mike Hauser Jun 30
You know what drives me crazy
Bonkers over time
The moment I go to wondering
My mind goes into rhyme

No matter the situation
Or subject in full spin
My thoughts are cranking in creating
Another poem out of them

This madness has gotten to the point
Where I hate to point this out
But if something doesn't change in the way of deranged
They'll ship me off to a padded cell

I often stop mid-thought in what I'm doing
To write down a line that comes to mind
Cruising for a bruising
As I beat myself up looking to find

The perfect word in my Google search
That makes some sort of sense
I'm not sure there is a cure
For this rhyme du jour I dip my pen in

These thoughts all drive me crazy
A distraught juggernaut
When what comes to mind is my mind tries to find
A way to take and rhyme it all

Do we treat life like a Magic 8 Ball
Questioning randomly
Answers that we hope will appear
Most definitely

If it's not the one, we base it all on
Do we shake up our surroundings
With 8 Ball in hand, we tend to go it alone
But hey, who's really counting

We'd all like life to say yes
Turning it over out of the blue
As our run of luck makes its best guess
Looking in the wrong place to give us a clue

It might seem a bit frivolous
The way we handle life
Hoping to see most likely
And not try another time

When we pull out our Magic 8 Ball
Tossing questions randomly
Shake it all up then hope for the best
Most definitely...

Our relationship is smoke and mirrors
It looks good but doesn't feel right
It's perfect for a magic act
But doesn't work well in real life

You can pull a rabbit out of your hat
But you can't pull out our love
You roll up your sleeves for your very next trick
When rolling up your sleeves isn't enough

It's become a fact that this magic act
Is sawing our relationship in two
Please put away your wand so we can move on
From where I sit, fooled without a clue

I really don't care how it is you do your tricks
There's no need for you to revel
If you'll just take off your cape before our love escapes
And perhaps that love will magically heal
Mike Hauser Sep 2017
If you look close enough
There's nothing up my sleeve
As I pull out this poem
For all of you to read

Appearing here in front of you
Your eyes do not decieve
This magic poem of wonder
If you only will believe

It's here for your entertainment
To wow and to amaze
A poem containing magic
Who's secret I'll take to the grave

You may not see but my writing hand
Is quicker than the eye
As it pulls ideas from out the air
And sets them down in rhyme

It's in the grandest of illusions
If the truth be known
If you blink then you'll miss it in
The magic of the poem

There's a certain beauty to the skyline
On the edge of this Texas town
Conjuring up the days last events
As the sun is sinking down

The day wrestles with the memories
Drawing them closely to an end
A sweetness that holds the fragrance
Of this beautiful Magnolia sunset

As the brushstroke of truth sweeps pinks and blues
In a mix between silver lined clouds
So much beauty to behold
Could make any sky cry out loud

Painting with perfection in pastel
God saves what colors are left
To use again the next evening
For another beautiful Magnolia sunset
Had a friend post pictures on line of Magnolia Texas's sunset.
Loved the view and title so much that I had to write a poem.

Everything I own in my home
Came from mail order catalogs
From the authentic Star Trek front door knocker
To the Lavender bear rug in the hall

Some may say I'm a nerd
Truth be known I just don't like shopping at the mall
The selection in this weeks issue is outrageously sweet
Place your order fast, do not stall

Just name your collection they come complete
Darth Vader bean bags, plus Yoda sheets
Only Mail order can you find a Chartreuse scarf
In the store they tried to sell me yellow, it just made me ****

And with Finger Hut having daily specials
From hot air balloons for hamsters to Jacuzzi fish bowls
There's no need to question my answer
Just mark it all down as sold

With UPS and FedEx these days knocking down my door
I barely have time to open up my mail order score
As piles and piles of boxes are taking over my rooms
I pull out the latest magazine and place my order for June
Another collaboration with my friend Wendy!
Mike Hauser Nov 2013
I'm checking the post daily
Can't tell you how exciting this is for me
Since I called the 1-800 number
From that mail order magazine

While one day sitting at the dentist
I picked up said magazine
A full page ad which made me gasp
A colorful array of personalities

I've never really had much of one on my own
So I ordered a couple dozen
Sitting here anxious for my order
And so far I've seen nothing

I'm wearing a path to the mailbox
It should have been here by now
When it does arrive I'm first taking out Impatient
Then placing a call to tell them about themselves

I hope I remembered to order one Romantic
Cause I'd sure like to impress Mary Lou
As it now stands I feel less a man
Around her I don't know what to say or do

Imagine my surprise when the box finally arrives!
I open it up with a slight giggle
Just like that the personalities fall into my lap
For a moment I felt just like Sybil

Lets see there's one that's Strong, one that's Flirty, one that's Shy, one that's Quirky
One that looks like it's Mighty Proud
A personality that's Fun, Debonair, a Serious one
All I know is I want to try them all out

These days when you see me around...AKA "The Man About Town"
The one that has the large following of friends
Everyone loves the tales that I tell, now that I tell them so well
The way I weave them from beginning to end

They all want to hang out with me, there's something special they see
Looks like I've come out of my shell
Now I don't think twice as I jump into life
Since things have been going so well

And all those personalities I own, I now leave those all home...
I keep the box locked high up on a shelf
I found the best personality I have is the one I was born with
And that people tend to like me for myself

Major Tom to ground control
I fear Rocket Man is growing old

Spending life in outer space
Wonders at the progress made
Floating between these satellites
In this his so called spaced out life

Afraid he was right when he said
The planet Mars is no place for kids
Filling his Tin Can with salty tears
Crying for his home all these years

Ground control to Rocket Man
There's no future in your plans
When there's no place for you to land
In this space of high demand

For Rocket Man and Major Tom
Time has treated you both so wrong
In this game of universal control
Light years away you lost your souls

With the mission to secure
New found worlds for dying Earth
Which has gone from bad to worse
Joining others in this age old curse

Rocket Man to ground control
I fear Major Tom is growing old

i met a man on the street
with a tin cup in his hand
as i pulled up some sidewalk
to give a listen in
i did ask him one question
which way the wind did blow

he said yes
was that a clue to
give my tongue a rest

he seemed to blink a lot
i'm thinking now...morse code
as the pigeons gathered round
like they were in the know

an old man of twenty passed
tossed a nickle in his can
it landed heads, with that he said
i'll bet a hundred grand

as he tipped his hat and said that's that
from his left pocket pulled a peppermint
before popping it into his mouth, he looked around
then brushed off all the lint

he turned to me, said this ones for free
try not to get lost
when ordering chinese take out
make sure it's in a box
with that he gave a wink and slowly hurried off

Will today be your last goodbye
The last time you see a child smile
The day you take your final breath
The day proclaimed, the day you left

Will you make today meaningful
Tell those you know how much you love
Apologize for the way you've behaved
Will today be that day

Will today be your last hooray
The day they turn the spicket off
The last time you see the sunrise
Or marvel at the nights starry sky

The last day to make amends
Or hold the hand of a loving friend
The last chance to make it better
Last chance to dance before it's over

Will today be the last day to say
I love you in a meaningful way
Will today be the day you find
The last chance to really live this life

What I am
What I'm not
What I was
What I thought
What I had
What I lost
Makes no difference
If I don't know what

What I've given
What I've bought
What I'm missing
What I've got
What I do
What I don't
Makes no difference
If I don't know what

What I've fought
What all for naught
What I've found
What I've sought
What I've let go
What I've caught
Makes no difference
If I don't know what

I'm making it all up as I go
From one end to the other
One wild guess is as good as the rest
If you don't blow your cover

Making my way with poker face
Without a soul the wiser around
What I don't know you know that I fake
With one in every crowd

I sometimes have a slight of hand
Being overly slight of mind
Making it all up on the go on demand
Is how I'm making through this life

Can I raise my hand saying I've done all I can
Despite my circumstance
Did I choose to do all I set out to
That being no more and no less

Did I find my nitch, make the best of it
Taking it as it comes
Grab the baton in the wind on the run
Whether I lost or won

Who besides me would not change a thing
Would still own up to all of the wrongs
Knowing for sure they were part of the course
Life lessons that help you grow strong

If death came today how many would say
I did the very best I could
Lived as I learned through every junket in turn
Mostly in the name of love

Not trying to leave behind some magical line
Written down for history
Just doing my best at my own bequest
While trying to just be me

Watching ants
Reminds me of man
Scurrying in a hurry
Wandering in plans

Acting like
It's all do or die
Running for their lives
Pants on fire

Finding themselves
Worn for worse
Running the course
The back and forth

Time being spent
Building this and that
Deadlines to be met
Having heart attacks

Slip sliding in the sand
Both man and ants
Pouring into this
Pouring out of that

Watching ants
Reminds me of man
In the hear and now
With no future plans

First off let's make it clear I ain't funny
And I don't start conversations out with bonjour
But there comes a time in every mans life
Where he needs a good Man-icure

When you hit the age of me on the same feet
It's time to give the old dogs a break
Empty out your calendar this will take all day for sure
And you don't want distractions in the way

Cause when the hair on your toes could keep an Eskimo clothed
And carpet his whole family's igloo
That's when you know it's time to call up your Bro's
And go visit a Asian or two

A pedicure for a man to remove the toe jam
Like they would weapons of mass destruction
But let's not call it a date cause that just sounds gay
Let's say outing or a manly luncheon

Like a kid in a candy store given chocolate galore
With no earthly thoughts of calories
Signed up for the 5 gold star plan soon to be a new man
Where you're bound to not recognize me

From hot wax to cream to all things in between
Why they even buffed my buff
From bottom to top they did the whole lot
And yes I liked it...thank you very much

As we went through the day the new me being made
Rolling me from dock to dock
Then came to the time we stopped short of a dime
When they wanted to give me a bikini WHAT?!?

That's where I drew the line there's just some things I find
That a Manly Man would never stand
We went back to the front, that's enough of this lunch!
THAT gold star wasn't in my plan

Would I do it again? All you gotta do is say when...
But next time round believe me
When it comes to the stars I'll stop at the 4
Which I believe is the boxer instead of bikini

But next time round believe me

We cage our animals
The way we cage our men
Some may call it cruelty
The way we lock them in

We go and lock the man away
When he misbehaves
But with the animals we kindly say
We're just trying to save

Just who are we trying to save
All the wild animals from
Is it from themselves
Or is it all from us

And what about man
In the same way
Is it them or us
That we're trying to save

It's the classic case of
Monkey see with monkey do
And of who is watching who
Inside this man made zoo

Man, being created in
the very nature of God
has a tremendous responsibility
with taking care of God's treasure
A quote from Oswald Chamber I tweaked.

i once was a child
many moons ago
innocence and wonder
is where i made my home
then into life's fabric
reality was sown
i miss the child
now he's grown

i once was a child
without a care in the world
till the day i found
myself in the world
the only thing keeping me
is gravity holds
while it all spins
out of control

i once was a child
in the hope i'd find
happiness beyond measure
with the treasures in this life
but the days grew longer
then came on the night
many moons ago
when i was a child

Winter cold it's time to leave
Your marching orders you've received
It's time to move and let in Spring
As the bird begin to sing

The bright yellow Sun starts to shine
With March standing by its side
Bringing on a whole new life
In the turning of the tide

Fresh breath of new air here to breathe
As Winter winds do concede
Pack your bags it's time to leave
As March comes in to fill its needs
Mike Hauser Apr 2017
Winter you've been warned
Your March-ing orders are in
With Spring now at hand
I forgot to post March!

Margarita...
Just over the border line
Count her in tequila time
With a second hand squeeze of lime

Margarita...
With the slightest of accents
Just enough to wonder what she meant
Takes back all the time you've spent

Margarita...
Comes to you with the blood shot eyes
Enough to make a grown man cry
With the feeling they've up and died

Margarita...
Mariachi music playing on the wind
Wake up with all your money spent
If your not broke at least your half bent

Margarita...
When will her madness end

Meeting Mark the day before
The day before the deed
Rumbling, stumbling, mumbling down
New York city streets

Incoherent at his worst
Troubled mind at best
Freak spew in the front pew
Who ever would have guessed

That the cold winter days of December
After a week would end in a permanent freeze
Where the world would all see first hand
The chilliest degree of insanity

As shots echoed out between buildings
Building on the end of a dream
It's not only John he was killing
But all of humanity so it seems

The day slipped away from the living
Along with giving peace a chance
Hello, goodbye John Lennon
The day that he and Mark met
I saw an interview where James Taylor met Mark David Chapman on the subway the day before he shot John Lennon and could tell something wasn't right with the man...December 7th 1980 he heard the shots ring out from his apartment building. Who could have ever guessed 😢

i woke up this morning
to take a walk on the sun
while the moon was out dancing
in a village of one
had the strangest of feelings
it had all come undone
and me...i was just along for the ride

the fields were all waving
a bright shade of blue
as the women who worked them
wore starlight hairdo's
i blinked once, then twice
well...wouldn't you
as i reached in and scratched the itch of my mind

cows carrying moonflower purses
looking utterly strange
dogs barking out four
on the driving range
shouldn't the cows be a milking
and the dogs scratching mange
as i pulled on the cord that was just out of sight

the dam broke, flooding the valley
with pink lemonade
only the statute of achoo! (bless you)
was all that was saved
they tried to do more
but the train was delayed
there's never been a day like a day tonight

Doing what it is he likes
Rolling his way down 95
Keeping it real, keeping it alive
Talking all that trucker jive

Always has himself a date
With a girl in every state
No excuses does he make
As he pulls in rather late

So many girls have tried their luck
Most of them just giving up
This trucker here is hanging tough
Married to his truck

You can ask Sarah, Betty Lou
Mary, Sally, Jennifer too
They'll all tell you the honest truth
There's not a lot that you can do

As he rides the interstate
Keeping it steady, keeping it straight
Leaving progress in his wake
Riding with his babe

Never are the moments rough
Can not ever get enough
In the lap of his love
Married to his truck

If you ever pass him by
You'll see on him the biggest smile
As they travel mile after mile
Doing life in style

Though the girls he does adore
Always leaving room for more
With the blacktop as his course
Pedal to the metal foot to the floor

**Never will he give it up
Always hanging in there tough
Call it what you will, he calls it the best of luck
Married to his truck
