My daddy taught me

When I was very young

When I was very young

How to hold a gun

How to hold a gun

And never let it go

Must have been something

My daddy thought that I should know

Never did get drafted

But still I went to war

Still I went to war

Every day for sure

Every day for sure

Is like a battlefield

Never let them take you down

Never should you yield

I only bring this up

Cause I feel it's getting late

Feel it's getting late

For America's sake

For America's sake

We might need to up and run

Unless it is my son

You hold onto your gun

i'm painting a hole
where i'll eventually crawl
into the dark
to get away from it all
seems over time
it's gotten quite wide
as it appears
i need more room to hide
when the day starts to dry
on the hole that i paint
i find out too late
there's no escape

You may think me a hero
Because of my cool name
Super in appearance
Some might even say

The secret that I hold
That's both my curse and fate
Is there's nothing deep inside of me
To stand in the way

If you ask me to revel it
If anything is left
Take my identity and seal it
For I am the Hollow Man

Not looking for sorrow or pity
There really is no need
I've learned now to accept it
What has become of me

Although I walk the lonely streets
Of the city's night
There's not any part of me
That's here to fight the crime

The only reason that I'm here
Is it's all that I have left
For this, the last of the boy wonders
Known as the Hollow Man

There is no telling appearance
No mask or fancy cape
The only thing I have going for me
Is my planed escape

Hollow in my knowing
Both inside and out
Take the emptiness I'm living
And blend in with the crowed

It's where it is I'm going
And where it is I've been
Yet no way of knowing
It is me...The Hollow Man

First day out in L.A.
Hollywood Boulevard
People say what they wanna say
But we'd all love to rub elbows with the stars
I don't care who you are

All I see before me
Are rows of fancy cars
In fact if you look real hard
I think I just saw Bruno Mars

Taking his ladies out for a trip
Down on Sunset strip
If your familiar with the tabloids
Then I'm pretty sure this is it

Hungry for a bit of Chinese
And a gander at the dead's concrete prints
I'm caught up in complete surprise
At how small were Bogie's feet and hands

They always seem much larger
Up on the big screen
But meet face to face a few of the stars
And you'll know exactly what I mean

There's not a whole lot more to see
Inside this Tinsel town
After the tour of celebrity homes
Before society burns them down

So I step back on the bus
Back to my town...normalcy
Secretly hoping deep down inside
I didn't come away with some strange disease

That's where I'm sitting at now
Up on my front porch
Watching as the cars pass by
Was that a Chevy or a Ford
Driven by Mr. and Mrs. Jones

I'm partying down at a Hollywood bash
The reason I'm here is that I crashed
I figured that if I would have asked
I would have been told to kiss their...

Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies
I'm not even close to being a famous guy
Something I often ponder and question why
But that's another story for another...

Time to see if there's anyone that I know
As I'm rubbing elbows with the escargot
Something smells fishy at this table bro
Wondering should I stay or should I...

Go ahead and think what you will of me
I'm just here to meet Justin "The Bieb"
Once I do then I can leave
Wait a minute, in the corner is that...

She gave me a glimpse from behind the bar
I'd take her home but don't have a car
With that deduction I wont get very far
Still do you think she thinks I'm a...

Star light helps to guide me home
I was found out and kicked out of the Hollywood bowl
It's a lonely walk that I'm walking home
Hey look! Another party, what the heck, you never know...

The ghosts of those long deposed
A-list Hollywood Actors
Are rehearsing their parts in the graveyard
Of the not so happily ever after

They come out at night in time to recite
Lines from their last endeavor
Not sure if they know, they died long ago
Or even would care to hear that answer

Wondering how they're not drawing the crowds
As in the day of the Silver Screen
There's a whole host of reasons in this ghostly season
As to why they are no longer seen

If they made their way through the graves in the day
They'd see all their fans paying homage
Getting their pictures made beside the graves with their names
Able to share in that special moment

But alas the ghosts of those long deposed
A-list Hollywood Actors
Will continue to rehearse their parts in the graveyard
Of the not so happily ever after

Pure beauty as the vision
That brings about a change
In the wandering soul of the child
The beating heart of man

Angelic voice that cries out
Like that of a meadow lark
Makes the ancient traveler take a stand
And fall down where you are

Eyes deep as any ocean
Holding back the waves
Collecting all the salty tears
Is the pillow where you lay

All you really care to be
Is loved for who you are
Not who it is they think they need
Mysterious and dark

They plucked you from out of the crowd
Set you on a pedestal
More goddess like than should be aloud
Worshiping what they see yet do not know

The beauty of the moment
The Starlet of the day
Until it is we use her up
Then send her on her way

i am the door...
that you leave slightly ajar
in your comings and goings
in an effort to find out who you are

i am the wall...
feel free to stare at me blankly
or if you have greater need
you're more than welcome to climb me

i am the table...
for you to lay it all out
or if you prefer to wine and dine
in this riddle of doubt

i am the drawer...
you hold all your secrets in
your poetry and diary
of who you now are and who you have been

i am the bed...
your afraid to peek underneath
but still with enough comfort
to give you your much needed sleep

i am the window...
that opens into your soul
telling you what you want
and what you don't want to know

i am the floor...
where it all gets swept
into that lonely corner
with the rest of your mess

Hide the matches
Hide the gasoline
Hide all of the caches
Of guns and magazines

Bring about the fiction
Hide away the facts
Of where it is we're going
Of where it is we're at

Hiding in the neighborhoods
Hiding in the hills
Keeping up with the Jone's
Counterfeiting bills

Terror in the cities
Terror in the towns
Down to the nitty gritty
Living underground

Sealing off the borders
Feeling safe at home
Not sure if your aware of this
But home is where we're grown

i wake up
brush my teeth
in a puddle of mud
in the middle of the street
the same place
i wash my face
homeless early
homeless late

i check my reflection
in a right hand mirror
wipe it clean
it's a little clearer
objects are smaller
than they appear
like my life
since i've been here

of course i don't like
where i am
with no one here
to call me friend
hard to remember
my past life
something about that
don't seem right

i unfold
my cardboard sign
recite the lines
i've memorized
hoping for
one meal a day
but have had less
as of late

on the corner
is where i see
people avert
their eyes from me
i have to wonder
what i've done
as i haven't
harmed anyone

they look at me
as if i were a ***
but what i am
is a mothers son
look hard enough
and you will see
i could be you
you could be me

As I look around today
It truly saddens me
When I see my brothers and sisters
Bound in modern day slavery

We now rely on the government
To supply our every need
Where'd you go home of the brave
Land of the free

What happened to the days
We did for ourselves
Where there was a will there was a way
Where a way there was a will

When we wanted something
We didn't have empty hands out
We grabbed ahold the grinding stone
Placed hands on the plow

All we seem to do now a day's
Is collect a check in our woe is me
In the home of the not so brave
Land of the not so free

Like I said when I look around today
It truly saddens me
When I see my brothers and sisters
Bound in modern day slavery
I do understand there are times when people do need assistance from the government but there are far too many taking advantage of the system.

You find yourselves playing house
When what you really need is a home
On this path, you'll soon enough find out
That you're both alone

You've yet to find a compromise
Of how this all should go
You'd be wise to take the time
To build yourselves a home

Starting with a load of bricks
Each one made of love
Held tightly with concrete
That is heavily mixed up with trust

Have windows that open up to hope
Doors swinging wide in welcoming
Love should be the chime you choose
To complement the doorbells ring

When you take this house you've created
And make it your home sweet home
Proud that you both have made it
Never once will you be alone

homogenized people
soft-spoken and plain
look through the peephole
appear the same

in the way that they walk
talk their point of view
sticking together
dried Elmers glue

homogenized people
sneeze pasty white
life in a puddle
side with the tide

without a paddle
without a clue
of where they are going
of what they should do

homogenized people
slip-sliding away
vanilla icing
covers white cake

on the same path
early or late
homogenized people
never do stray

If I'm to be honest
Perfectly honest
I'll tell you I've got this
When I really don't

Not sure if you know this
Or happen to notice
I'm a bit out of focus
When it comes to the point

One way or another
I tend to blame others
If I had my druthers
That would be my choice

Call it a defect
Or better yet, train wreck
This, my man-made mess
After all I have goals

In time you'll find
The bars not set too high
On this, my slow ride
Lord only knows

If I'm to be honest
Totally honest
There's not many among us
That know what's going on

Have you seen the bee
That keeps stinging me
Hollered out the bear
In the honey tree
Trying his best to hide
Out amongst the leaves
Brown is the background
In this forest of green

All that I want
Is a simple taste
Savory sweet, sticky treat
In which to stuff my face
Why all the hate
And placing of the blame
When every bear I know
Lives to do the same

So can you help me
Says the bear with the sting
On top of my nose
Put there by a bee
That doesn’t care for me
Fiddling in his tree
Trying my best to feed
On all of his honey

I live in north Florida
That's just a hop, skip, and a jump
From the land known as Georgia
Where "Honey Boo Boo" holds court with her mom

If'n you don't know "Honey Boo Boo"
Your in for a treat or more than one
She's a multi car train wreak
That you can't turn your eyes away from

First let me explain  the state of Georgia
So this family ya'll will understand
Not long ago they re-dirted both paved roads
Said progress was getting out of hand

So with that said and done
And formalities out of the way
Lets turn our attention back to our star attraction
And see what she has to say

Her fame started on Toddlers & Tiaras
Reality shows we all seem to love
From The Crazed Housewives to The Kardashion's
America can not get enough

And since it's on T.V. it's gotta be true
Have you ever tried her drink sensation
Of Red Bull and Mountain Dew, She likes to call "Go Go Juice"
It'll put a hurtin' on you

And who wouldn't want to see a six year old
With that kind of Hellacious Buzz
What goes through my mind when I look at that is
Ahhh, Redneck Motherly Love

So you had better redneckonize her!
If you know what's good for you
Cause a dolla makes her holla!
I'm so glad they've brought back the **** Tube...
Just to set the record straight, I've never seen the show nor do I plan on...
I don't watch T.V. at all...I feel I can waste my time other ways...
And believe me I do!

Wish I was a hood ornament
On a 58' Ford Fairlane
With my face pointed to the West
On a lone Texas highway

Where I can feel the engines hum
As it purrs under me
A 58' Ford Fairlane hood ornament
Is what I want to be

A 58' Ford Fairlane hood ornament
Feeling the freedom of the wind
The coolness of the metal
The metallic of the skin

Enjoying every moment
Bringing on the glory of day
Riding on the hood
Of a 58' Ford Fairlane

she writes little notes
of hopes and promises
then proceeds to leave them around

cause you never know
which way fortune blows
and by whom they may be found

you never know by chance
the circumstance
of what others are going through

and how the simplest thing
like a note could bring
one from the end of their rope

knee deep in her plight
she continues to write
little notes of hopes and promises

to leave them around
where they may be found
by those who need a lift

a reminder of hopes and promises...

i keep my hopes and dreams

inside a paper sack

i pull them out when i feel the need

the ones that are stale i put them back

those i take down to the shore

and toss them in the sea

the fresh ones like i said i keep

and take them home with me

to pull out when i feel the need

As your mood begins to fade
In and out with the passing days

I wrote this down to pass along
A simple hope this helps out poem

With the mood that you are in
I hope this brings you out of it

Cause life can certainly take a hit
If you don't take care of it

My hope is as this poem you read
It helps to put your mind at ease

It's not here to figure out
The reasoning that this life's about

It's more of a well needed break
One to take your mind away

That is all that this page holds
A simple hope this helps out poem

The guy at the diner failed to mustard Jake's hot dog
As he was eating it he felt as cold as a marsh frog
Yucky was the flavor without condiment
Chomping it down, a tasteless torment

As the fries on his plate were doing the backstroke
Having a jolly swim day in a puddle of oil
Asked for industrial towels to wipe up the slick
Before it caught wind of the Environmentalists

A complaint has been filed about their bill of fare
Nothing served over the counter would we wish to share
Placards will be shown over the Diner's facade
Warning customers of this ecological disregard

They won't water down their words like the Diner their drinks
Before you enter in you'll stop and think
About the Blue Plate Special with Salmonella on the side
Do you prefer your Botulism broiled or would you like it fried

Gastronomic delights such as they will make you pay
A stint in the infirmary is sure to come your way
With a tossed salad of pain, relievers, and antibiotics
Which none of the above will be deliciously exotic

If you can take the cooks looks and stomach the smells
Along with the service that's slower than snails
There's normally a coupon in the daily mail
Buy one get one free!
Ahhhh.....what the hell

Some say don't fear while others fret
On all of the happenings
We've struck a match to our past

"Now the house we've built is burning"

Our forefathers built with blood, sweat, and tears
The foundation we have here
Well into two hundred years

"What lessons are we learning"

The contract in which they wrote down
Constitutes sacred ground
Flick the Bic and burn it down

"Not worried over who we're hurting"

Generations yet to come
What will we be teaching them
That hard work makes great kindling

"Does anyone else find that disturbing"

Overtime it was bound to run its course
Now we know why Miss Liberty carries a torch
We tossed a molotov cocktail onto our own front porch

"Now the house we've built is burning"

Houston,
We seem to have a problem
Love never took off
The way we were expecting

After all the flowers
And all the money spent
We never had a go
We never made a dent

Houston,
All systems have shut down
We never could get this love affair
Up off the ground

10, 9, 8
7 and then 6
That's only as far
As this countdown went

Houston,
Could we give it another try
Isn't there a back up
Could we launch this thing at night

Although a love like this
Has been in the plan for years
All it is that we have left
Is a control room full of tears

Houston,
We seem to have a problem
Love never took off
The way we were expecting

Can you see that it’s time
With no watch on your arm
Is there hope to survive
If you’ve done bought the farm
When all things feel right
Does the moment just flow

How can a man say
What he doesn’t know

If your neck deep in the stream
Shouldn’t you know how to swim
If there’s truth in the ring
Should you step out and give in
Do all mountain tops
Come with a *****

How can a man reach the heights
If his life view is low

Are you late to the central
In Eastern time
If it’s really that simple
Then why’s it so hard to find
Have you often faltered
Where you’ve clearly been

How can a man love
If he’s never let love in

If your deep in the dream
Can you be what you want to be
If your dream was a train
Would it run out of steam
Could you hold onto the promise
If the words aren’t there to lend

How can a man start over
Once he’s reached his end

I told myself
I no longer need you
But I myself
Do not believe that's true

How can I
Resist those eyes

I told myself
We were no longer lovers
I told myself
That I would get over

But how can I
Resist those eyes

There's a part of me
That's stronger than most
And a part of me
That won't let you go

Whenever I
Can't resist those eyes

There's a part of me
That hates to admit it
The part of me
That never will quit it

When I find that I
Can't resist those eyes

Well me myself
One of us must be lying
It might help
If I just stop trying

When it's hard I find
To resist those eyes

How could I ever be me
If I don't take some sort of lead
Try being myself
Instead of somebody else
If I don't see the need
To be who I'm supposed to be
Stay true to this thought
Not something I'm not
If I never feel free
How can I ever be me

How could you ever be you
If you only do what others do
Or you don't find the time
To do what feels right
Don't have a say
In the way you play days
If you're never once moved
To stand up for the truth
If this you don't do
How can you ever be you

How could we ever be us
If we don't do it all out of love
Don't try the best that we can
On our promises kept
If we don't take the time
To live out this life
Give an answer to it all
To stand and not fall
When the time comes
How can we ever be us

How can you say you love
And then proclaim your hate
How can you preach more than enough
Then take it all away

How can you not see
You're the one that's blind
How can you say that you are free
While bottled up inside

How can you dangle hold
Out hope for those
And then tie a noose
At both ends of the rope

How can you even stand
To live with yourself
And if you can't
How can you expect anyone else

How can you say
Follow me rightfully
When the way you've made
Is the deadest of dead-end streets

How can you ask the hand in dance
Drawing close cheek to cheek
When you're so far out of touch with those
That are in desperate need

How can you say with a straight face
You'll bring about a change
When you yourself have sold your soul
And given ours away

How can you even stand
To live with yourself
And if you can't
How can you expect anyone else

How do I know you're a poet
By the very words you sow
From the highest high of all the highs
To the deepest depths below
The way you pour out your heart
In every syllable as they flow
That is how I know you hold to
The poet in your soul

How do I know you're a poet
Because you take the simple facts
That life's ups and downs have thrown your way
By the way you throw them back
The way you upset the apple cart
With the words that you display
How do I know you're a poet
Your soul it does betray

How do I know you're a poet
By the way it is I'm moved
From the first line to the end of time
In the words that you let loose
No need to really ask
How it is I know
Everything I read and see
Points to the poet in your soul

How do you know if you can or you can't
If you never give it a try

How do you know if you'll sink or you'll swim
If you never take the dive

How do you know if you will or you won't
If you never give it a thought

How do you know to sing along
If you never choose a song

How do you know the cost of it all
If you're not willing to spend the dime

How do you know to learn from the fall
If you never dare to climb

How do you know how fast love will grow
If you first don't plant the seed

How do you know to come in from the cold
If you never feel the heat

How do you know that now is the time
If you don't keep a watch

How do you know where to find the light
If you're always in the dark

How do you know the jest of it all
If you never care to laugh

How do you know to give it a try
If you never say can but can't

How is it love can shoot for the moon
and then reach out for the stars
How is it love can make us do what we do
and still love who we are

How is it love can soften a heart
and yet cut to the bone
How is it love can tear us apart
and then bring us back home

How is it love can be you
and how is it love can be me
How is it love can sometimes not be enough
and still set us both free

In my ruby red shoes I click my heels
Take out my golden pen
Through transcendental meditation, raise my heart rate up
Putting my head in a cosmic spin

Conjure up a darkened mood
Then brighten it a bit
Oh I almost forgot for luck
I go outside and spit

With a touch of genius (I don't mind saying)
I lay down my first amazing line
Pour over it stroke by brilliant stroke
Then erase it half a dozen times

I go back and rearrange the first line I wrote
Knowing the cosmos would be safer that way
I know because the universe stands on edge
With every word that I display

As I analyze my finished work
Dissecting it line by wonderful line
This time I'm sure like every time before
Another "Masterpiece" is mine

Then I notice the one misplaced word
That changes the entire meaning of what I had to say
I think to myself...Ahhh, "What The Hey!"
Then I go and post it anyway
All in jest my friends...

To battle off intruders
I hired a dog named Goober
He came to me packing heat
I think it is a Luger

He's not a German Shepard
Though his collar and holster are made of leather
He graduated Obedience School
Proudly wearing his Letter Sweater

I pay him in dog biscuits
Which cuts down on doing dishes
As we toss ideas around
When problems arise Goober licks it

He came with papers so all could see
Showing he is the best of breed
Also to lay out on the floor
In case Goober feels the need

Goober has been a great asset
All the intruders around here left
In case you feel the need to ask
...Just don't ask the cat
This popped up on my Facebook memories and it was so fun thought I'd share it again.

Also to lay out on the floor
In case Goober feels the need

Goober has been a great asset
All the intruders around here left
In case you feel the need to ask
...Just don't ask the cat

If you ask how long I will stay

I will ask how long till the end of days
Till love gives out on all it's made
I'll keep holding on into the late

If you ask how long till there's nothing left

I will ask how long till my dying breath
Till every dot, dash, and words been said
I'll keep giving you all I have

If you ask how long I'll keep holding on

I will ask how long has this love grown
Till time stands still on the grey and old
I'll keep away the chill from the marrow bone

I will stay until there's nothing left
Holding on until my last dying breath

You ask how long I will stay

I ask how long till the end of days
Till love gives out on all it's made
I'll keep holding on into the late
That's how long I'm going  to stay

You ask how long till there's nothing left

I ask how long till my dying breath
Till every dot, dash, and words been said
I'll keep giving you all I have
That's how long till there's nothing left

You ask how long I'll keep holding on

I ask how long has this love grown
Till time stands still on the grey and old
I'll keep away the chill from the marrow bone
That's how long I'll keep holding on

How long will it take these tears to dry
Before it's safe to go back outside
And of these puddles at our feet
Salty tears make salty seas

How long can we play this charade
Before we give ourselves away
And if we had a chance to guess
Would we care more or less

How long before we need a bigger boat
To try and keep this all afloat
If we had two of everything
Would it make a difference in the end

How long will it take these tears to understand
And are tears ever really planned
Can we find strength in defeat
Splashing puddles in the street

How long will it take these tears to dry
Before it's safe once again to cry
And of these puddles at our feet
Salty tears make salty seas

How many of you out there if you died today
Dust in the wind, simply blew away
Would have confidence of the after life
How many of you out there, if today you died

How many of you out there could you truly say
Up in Heavens Glory you would have a place
Do you have that confidence in the paths you choose
How many of you out there could speak that lasting truth

How many of you out there are out there
Searching for that something, grasping at thin air
Do you have that confidence in that which you've never seen
How many of you out there know exactly what I mean

When I say...

How many of you out there if you died today
Dust in the wind, simply blew away
Would have the confidence of the after life
How many of you out there, if today you died

How many...

Live on past mistakes
Afraid to give it all away
Thinking maybe if they do
They'll have nothing to hold to

How many...

Of us draw the line
Stepping over time after time
Losing out on what is real
Focused more on how we feel

How many...

See the wrong displayed
Then turn and look the other way
Never dare to get involved
Yet blaming others for their faults

How many...

Of us talk the talk
Yet all in all don't walk the walk
Holding to that age old truth
Do as I say not as I do

How many...

How many loves
Must you pass through
Till you find the one
That's made for you
As you stir the ***
Taste a few
Find they're not
The right mix of stew
How many loves
Must you pass through

How many loves
Must you pass through
Before your heart
Gets a clue
Beating in rhythm
Of more than just you
In the hope that it's given
The one that's true
How many loves
Must you pass through

How many loves
Must you pass through
Till the one that you meet
Is a powerful glue
That sticks perfectly
To the best part of you
Holding on tight
Not shaking loose
How many loves
Must you pass through

How many these days
Open their mouths
Before they have
A chance to find out
Open their mouths
And let it spill out
While their feeble minds
Proceed to shut down

How many of these days
Refuse to change
A lemming at heart
Just show them the way
Follow the crowd
To the cliffside
When it comes time to jump
They are there side by side

How many these days
Are considered blind
Show them the truth
They still will deny
All they can see
Is only one side
How many these days
Has me wondering why

If hindsight had two eyes
To look ahead
And look behind
I'm sure then
I'd realize at

How much I needed you

Before it is
I let you go
In the passion
Of the throe
I wish then
What I now know is

How much I needed you

Before my world
Came undone
Before I learned
The meaning of true love
Before I knew
How much the cost was in

How much I needed you

Now that it all
Is different
At the very
Bitter end
All I can think of
Is back then and

How much I needed you

How much longer must we stand here
As the waters continue to rise
We are a people, a Holy nation
Waiting on the coming tide

With the knowledge of what we hope for
Having confidence in this
That our God and mediator
Will judge all in His righteousness

While here we all must suffer
As this earth is not our home
Making clear we have another
As the Spirit testifies in moans

Awaiting the day the good Lord frees us
Letting him have his way and will
Relying on his word to daily free us
Till every Jot and Tittle is filled

How much longer must we stand here
As the waters continue to rise
We your people, your Holy nation
Waiting daily on the coming tide
