Every day feels like Christmas
For the gifts that God doest bring
Immanuel here with us
Glory to the risen King

Enjoying daily His presence
The gift we all can share
In perfect harmony His essence
A sweet fragrance in the air

Wrapped up in forgiveness
Done up in a bow of grace
That is why it feels like Christmas
Every single day

Don't be mistook
Every face is a book
That tells of a story
The closer you look

Around the eyes
You can read every line
The laughter and heartbreak
Wrote out over time

A crease in the edge
At the turn of the lips
Dog-eared smile or frown
To later be read

It's all there of course
In chapter and verse
As the title suggests
From our best to our worst

All in the look
Not always understood
Telling a story
As every face is a book

Everyone wants a love like no other

Everyone wants to reach beyond their dreams

Everyone will wish upon a star in the heavens above

Everyone has the same wants and needs

Everyone holds what they have like it's not enough

Everyone treats relationships like catch and release

Everyone reading this will say not me, it's the others

Everyone that hides things from themselves will eventually see

Everyone has a friend only they can trust

Everyone whispers word of wisdom, Let it be

Everyone looking down should be looking up

Everyone everywhere should be free

These days it seems everybody's doing it
Not a place you can't go that it can't be seen
From the highest of highs, to the lowest of lows
North, South, East, West, all points in between

Everyone I see must be enjoying it
Otherwise it wouldn't be done
As much as everyone is doing it
You know that it's gotta be fun

Isn't that what it's all about anyways
That while you do it you have a good time
Go ahead and do what you want  with yours
I'll do what I want with mine

Yes, these  days it seems everybody's " doing it

Did you ever once dream
Or ever twice think
That your love for drugs
Would be all that you need

Or when you were a kid
Out of all that you did
That the habit you'd kick
Would be your innocence

On the verge of death
With little to no time left
A secret we know
But from you it's been kept

Did you not think at one time
This could be your life
And this would be the way
You'd find the way to die

May God have mercy on your soul
And the ones left out in the cold
When you're no longer here
While the rest of us grow old

Missing you more than you know
Without you here to show
But if the truth be known
We lost you a long time ago...
I've had several friends kids die from overdoses which for the addict ends the horror but for the ones left behind just continues another chapter in the book. The latest which hit me hardest is the son of a friend dying 2 weeks ago and this weekend is their daughters marriage...I couldn't even imagine.

every poem dreams itself
to be read by someone else
if only enough to touch a heart
bring a smile for all it's worth
open up a wanting mind
hold it tight until it finds
to give away itself in kind
through its life and rhyme

God made the heavens with the stars in the sky

Man made the sin so we all must now die

God made the earth and all that's within

Man made the moment in which we all flinch

God made the air that we all breath

Man made pollution so the air we could see

God made the animals to live off the land

Man made the zoos to keep them all in

God made the oceans and all the sea life

Man made the notion to always ask why

God made the flowers and God made the trees

Man makes a mess out of all that he sees

God made the mountains and God made the sands

Man tears it down with progress at hand

God sent the rains to water the earth

In mans complaints there's always a thirst

God made a promise to always be there

Man took that promise and left it somewhere

God said take care of the land and the sea

Man made excuses and lost memory

Out of his love God sent us his son*

I ask of you what has man ever done?

not sure when all of this got started
if you must know the simple truth
but when it comes to life's color spectrum
i see everything in blue

it's not that i'm filled with sadness
in this world of win or lose
but with the past and present circumstances
i see everything in blue

i find all the hills worth climbing
been to the top more than a time or two
still through all this there is no denying
i see everything in blue

through every up and down beat situation
all i can find at times to say and do
no mixing of colors in the making
i see everything in blue

you may think there's something wrong with me
but take a look at the sky and oceans hue
then you'll understand the vastness that i see
when i say...
i see everything in blue

I want to read a book
That's never been read
Hear a gentle word
That's never been said
I want to sit back
And close my eyes
When I open them up
Everything is alright

I want to ring a bell
That's never been rung
Sing along to a song
That's never been sung
Pull back the curtain
With all of my might
So I can expose
Everything is alright

I want to see
What has never been seen
Take a long walk
In the hands of a dream
Reach as far as I can
The highest of heights
And pull down to earth
Everything is alright

I want a spot
Where I feel I belong
Take all that I've got
Before it is gone
I want to shine
The brightest of lights
So I can find
Everything is alright

We all have high hopes
As we step on the wagon
With the band playing
Grab the tail of the dragon

Not really knowing
What we are needing
Where we are going
When we are leaving

Just when we get there, hoping
Not everything's broken

Tripping the light
Of the fandango
What's the big fuss
Why can't we let go

Paying the fair
On what should be free
Instead mostly  care
You about you and me about me

This far into game I was hoping
Everything wasn't broken

Used to we'd all
Come up to the line
The same one we've learned
To step over in time

No matter which side
We all take a beating
With nowhere to hide
In our time of grieving

Either direction, coming or going
Seems these days, everything's broken

I bought a book, took some notes
On everything that they wrote
Of what a poet needs to know it
If they want to be a poet

I learned a rhyme can be just fine
But not all the time it needs to rhyme
So in my journey I did set
Where I was out to do just that

I started slow, took baby steps
Not overly confident of myself
But as they say I turned the page
And haven't looked back since that day

Now what I find that's in my mind
Entertains from time to time
I may not know how poetry grows
Or the direction the wind of inspiration blows

I'll just follow along the winding path
And end up where it ends up at
Because I bought a book, and took some notes
On everything that they wrote

Every time I try to write a love poem
I think back to the time it all went wrong
And how it is I try to deny
You as the best part of my life
Every time I try to write a love poem

Every time it is I hear our song
I find myself trying to sing along
But my singing days are through
With no more me and no more you
Every time it is I hear our song

Every time it is I pass that spot
Where we found out we were both in love
I blink back the tears I cry
Finding it hard to drive by
Every time it is I pass that spot

Every time I try to write a love poem
You now see all that goes wrong
As I sit back and reminisce
On that first and the last kiss
Every time I try to write a love poem

Everywhere I go
My rear is there for me
To give comfort when I sit
Should I decide to bend my knees

I take my wife's advice
And keep my cheeks pinched tight
So everywhere I go
My brains don't spill out on the floor
This is an oldie but still rings true to this day! Imagine that!

why do they call it a sneeze
when it's clearly achoo
or call you a nut
when you have a loose *****
they say do not speak
unless spoken to
i sometimes don't
but most often do

why does a mosquito buzz
when it comes in for a bite
why does light always rhyme
with the darkness of night
if they've had enough
they say go fly a kite
why is the cut off for cats
stop at nine lives

why if the world spins so fast
we don't all fly off
why does the doctor go there
then asks you to cough
why does your age mostly show
to those but not you
why is the grass green
why is the sky blue

are the sun and the moon
the best of good friends
do they stay up late nights
after we've long gone to bed
and who's in charge of the sugar plums
that dance in my head
that have gone to my hips
that are making me fat

just a few things
i ponder in life
the over and under
the may and just might
the good and the bad
the wrong and the write
the wondrous blunders
as I plunder through life

What's your excuse
For the things that you do
Do you take and blame others
Is that the path that you choose

Or your environment
Where your life is spent
The side of town that you live on
Is that where you get

All the many lies
As to the reason why
That you go and tell yourself
As you try and deny

Do you blame it on race
The one you're in, the one you face
When you find yourself steeped deep
In the excuses you make

What do you say
About the way you behave
Ten out of ten
Where you tend to place blame

Have you ever thought it through
That the problem might be you
Why you do the things you do
Could that be your excuse?
Mike Hauser Aug 2014
I've got piles of excuses
Just waiting in line
Of my favorite to use
I've perfected with time

From I had no idea
To the suns in my eyes
It's my allergies
That make it look like I cry

Or that dog of yours
Made all this mess
And I'd love to go out
If I wasn't already undressed

I used to do that
Before I threw out my back
I'd find your jokes funny
If I hadn't run out of laughs

I'd visit more often
If I had more time
These excuses are real
I swear I'm not lying

Would have done something
If that I had seen
Seems the older I get
The more my eyesight fails me

These are just a few of the excuses
Over the years I have saved
Never know when I'll need them
For a good excuse to be made
Mike Hauser Apr 2016
The dog ate my homework
When I turned around
My humor was stolen
By a circus clown

I was abducted by aliens
Is the reason I'm late
To pick you up
For our dinner date

I dropped the ball
With the sun in my eyes
Are a few of the excuses
And the reason why

I either do or I don't
Do the things that I do
So I'll stick with them all
As my excuse

I must have forgot
There was a time change
As my clock stopped
On the very same day

I lost my wallet
With your number inside
This would be the truth
If it wasn't a lie

I ran out of gas
So I had to hitchhike
I made a left
Instead of a right

I either do or I don't
Do the things that I do
So I'll stick with them all
As my excuse
Mike Hauser Sep 2020
Oh all the wonder
in the daily blunders
as the left once again
over plays their hand
In the do as I say
not as I do attitude
for those with no clue
in their daily demands

While inside their bubble
without all this trouble
happy and free
are the elite
Who would have guessed this
uprising of peasants
would open their eyes
and finally see

What's good for the goose
would be the gander in noose
in this new found up rise
hang them all high
As the chains they've been using
are finally loosened
in this wave of the truth
in this turning of tide

While they sit round in wonder
watching it all go under
through all their blunders
losing their bird in hand
We now see what they say
is only meant to enslave
excuses they make
as we all exit stage left
Mike Hauser Jun 2018
You might take one look at me
And wonder what is going on
Questioning my sanity
At every turning point

You might never get the answers
You are looking for
When the elevator I'm riding in
Only stops on the odd floors

You might shake your head and wonder at
In anticipation
Expecting that the things I've said
To make sense while you are waiting

When men of modern science
Often look at me and marvel
How can he even think to breathe
While missing most his marbles

On most days I wear a cape
Though I'm no super hero
You won't see me at bullet speed
With motivation set at zero

I don't have enough hands
To count my many imaginary friends
As everyone has set up camp
Inside my empty head

And with that said if you catch my drift
Along with Snagglepuss
I'll Exit...Stage left
Mike Hauser Jul 2015
I'm not sure you can see this
But my life is an experiment
Where I try new things out every day

I wake up in the mornings
Most times without warning
Put my feet on the floor, then on my way

I talk with people I pass
Monitoring if they talk back
If I feel lead I'll even shake hands

With this I check my heart rate
Making sure to keep up the pace
Like a lab rat at sciences demand

I'll visit Delicatessens
Jotting down lessons
Of what I do and do not like

I do this for science
Where future generations might find it
Interesting that I always order pie

I've even fallen in love
Believe me science doesn't know enough
And I'm not sure they'll ever find that out with time

But I'll keep on experimenting
My life project I hope soon won't be ending
For the sake of science and all of mankind
Mike Hauser May 2016
I don't much write what is in my heart

But what is in my mind

Which most agree more often than not

Explains all the craziness in rhyme

It shouldn't be about the likes you get
In what you have to say
Or a popularity contest
Where you up and win your share of praise

It should be a bit of wisdom
A tad of take away
A valuable life lesson
One that brings about a change

It shouldn't be about the hits and clicks
That go to make your day
Or the many arguments
Just so you can have your say

Where went the excitement
The camaraderie
Instead of the enticement
Being hell bent on destroying

It shouldn't be the gotcha moment
We all keep looking for
No one really wants it
This ugliness of back and forth

It should be for sharing our lives and times
And of course, cat videos
Can we please get back to playing nice
On the many things we post
Mike Hauser Apr 2016
I look at all your Facebook posts
Is that you I really see
Or did you just put makeup on
And do my eyes deceive

Pick out the perfect lighting
**** that belly in
Angle the camera perfectly
To erase that double chin

You post a few comments on
How life could not be better
In your plight to help humanity
And all things that really matter

I see you care about what you share
With the pushing of a button
But does it go beyond, who knows
Guess it's better than nothing

Our Facebook lives I often find
Is just like Hollywood
Where we hide behind white lies
To make ourselves look good

So as I gaze at your Facebook page
I wonder if you're who you say
Or if you're someone other
Than who you try to portray
Mike Hauser Aug 2016
If it wasn't for Facebook
I'd have no memory
Of what all I've done in the past
And the many things I've seen

From most of what I do
To all of what I say
From my stretches of the truth
To the come whatever may

Memories pop up frequently
Like a slap in the face
Screaming do you remember this
From the good old days

Yes if it weren't for Facebook
My boring life would be extra dull
Since on my own I haven't a clue
As to what is going on

The main problem with this is though
I don't remember when
While all my family and friends say
Please not this again

I just wonder what I did before
Facebook kept my memory on tabs
Since I don't remember having a memory
Of a memory before that
I love when Facebook pops up memories from the past
but I swear some I don't even remember posting...

I like to buy different magazines
And bring them to my home
Cut the faces out I see
And replace them with my own

I always look so happy
In other peoples lives
I can be the best of husbands
Along side the best of wives

It all depends on the mood I'm in
On any given day
I could be hang gliding in the South Pacific
Or hiking the hills of Mandalay

On a sunny beach in Florida
With perfect kids flying colorful kites
At a Hollywood premier
My face on any star I like

I used to lead a boring life
As I sat around at home
Now pasting my face in different magazines
I go and do anything I want

I just purchased NASA monthly
Dare I go to the moon
If they picture two astronauts together
You know I'd go with you

There's this island magazine I've been saving
From a travel agency
Can't wait to paste my face out swimming
In the bluest of bluest seas

I'll flip through all the pages
Till I come up with the perfect tan
On top of the perfect body
Then I will be the perfect man

It's not always fun and games though
I do have a serious side
When I paste my face onto the homeless
Then wet the pages as I cry

There's so many different things I do
Depends on the mood and magazine
What peaks my interest at the store that day
To who I see I'd like to be

just beneath her tinder skin
is a faded blue tattoo
the colors once were vibrant
till the day he said we're through

her skin no longer tingles
where the blue tattoo is kept
it's been replace with a constant ache
from the moment that he left

she has other tats from front to back
a walking testament of self expression art
but the one that hangs alone in her gallery
is the faded blue tattoo broken heart

I'm starting to get the tan back
Where the ring used to be
Losing the reminder
But not the memory

I'm sure that too will makes it's move
To fall off my minds grid
But we two both know the truth
Who am I trying to kid

I might have forgotten your birthday
Or at times our dinner plans
And our anniversary often escaped me
As I blamed it all on being a man

But I do remember the good times
If I remember anything
Even as the tan line
Fades from my fingers memory

Please feel free
To take anything you see
And divide it up amongst yourselves

As I can only keep
What little memory
I have in my head and nothing else

The photos on the wall
You can have them all
They are only strangers now to me

And the love letters in the drawer
I want need them anymore
As I no longer know who wrote them to me

Keep the car out in the drive
The one with the keys that I can't find
But promise you'll take me for Sunday drives

With the windows completely down
So I can see the sights and sounds
It's better than staring at the walls to pass the time

Take all of the heirlooms
And do with them what you choose
Hopefully a reminder of me

As my mind fades into black
Forgetting who and where I'm at
Feel free to take anything you see

Smiling ever so sweetly
A quick wink of the eye
She opens her palms slightly
And lets the dust fly

Mind you this is not pixie dust
Nor dried mud from a troll
But the finest of fairydust
That could ever be thrown

It seeps through the crevices
To the pages within
Playfully and knowingly
Lands on a poem with a grin

If your one of the fortunate few
Then you know what I mean
Because what has landed on you
Is the love of her dream

Your heart it does soar
As her dust lifts you up
Sparkling among the words
The magic of fairydust
Mike Hauser Sep 2015
i woke up this morning
to find a fairy floating
in and out of my line of rhyme

with the slightest bit of fussing
she commenced to fairy dusting
over all the poetic gems she hoped to find

with pure elegance and timing
in her finding of the rhyming
words this lovely fairy eats and breathes

she can not help this that controls her soul
an urgency this fairy knows
all too well she must pay it heed

always is this fairy's pleasure
to  find this rhyming hidden treasure
amongst the rows in this her field of poem

she takes the ones she can't live without
adds them to all wanderlust allows
before she spreads her tiny wings and heads back home

knowing once again, a job well done...

She floats above the poems
Sprinkling dust between the lines
Starting off a gentle flow
Of rhythm mixed with rhyme

She is the fairy of the poetic dust
The moment in the making
Where magic comes together
The desire she's always craving

With a flapping of her wings
Comes a flipping of the page
Helping the writers mind to see
What it is they need to say

She smiles at all the writings
The truth in what they're saying
She rings the Bells of Righteousness
On those she feels needs saving

She is the fairy of the poetic dust
The purveyor of the pen
Keeps the writings of the day
Moving out and moving in

As she floats above the poems
Sprinkling dust between the lines
Starting off a gentle flow
Of rhythm mixed with rhyme
This was written for a dear friend on another site that is always so generous with her comments, much like our Timothy...

I was strolling through the forest of fairies
In the valley of all hopes and dreams
When I came to the pool of poetic wonder
Flowing freely from a magical stream

On the far side sat a mystical figure
Surrounded by the finest of dust
A little Missy on the other side of the water
As the day was drawing down to nights dusk

She spread her wings as light shown around her
The child like wonder in my eyes did adjust
It was then I knew I had the great fortune
To gaze upon the true beauty of fairydust

With a wink and a nod and a smile
She sang these sweet words unto me
In this pool I will swim for all time my friend
For the rhymes in it they set me free

As she dove into the crystal blue waters
The poems below splashed above her head
Giving new life to their very wanting
Love me, love you, love poetry
Were the last magical words that she said
I wrote this about a friend of mine on another poet site I'm on...
She is a true lover of poetry and encourager to us all...

this company is heading straight to the top
with our new improved line of fairy farts
soon our catch phrase will be all over the place
a slight touch of magic in a jar

first and foremost a disclaimer though
in the making of farts not one fairy was harmed
we house and feed, take care of their every need
so there's no need for alarm

once we discovered how the ***** could be used
down here on fairy farm
we've had all our men chase after them
capturing bottom barks into a jar

then by hand we transfer them
from pint up to gallon size
to be used all the way from laundry detergent
to a line of makeup that's soft on the eyes

we even have samples of candles
bath and body works just bought the whole lot
plus it runs machines cheaper than gasoline
so far the highest bid is from Exon

we're also in talks of a contract
with a highly secretive govern(mental) agency
who wants all the gas with no questions asked
but on that we'll have to wait and see

in the mean time our workers continue to bottle it up
all the fairy farts from all the fairy butts
it's a job that flatuates deep to the heart
but with this job what's not to love

as you watch the fairies flutter to and fro
hearing the cute little ***** wherever they go
who would have guessed who could have known
how much a business like this would grow

this company is heading straight to the top
with our new improved line of fairy farts
soon our catch phrase will be all over the place
a slight touch of magic in a jar

first and foremost a disclaimer though
in the making of farts not one fairy was harmed
we house and feed, take care of their every need
so there's no need for alarm

once we discovered how the ***** could be used
down here on fairy farm
we've had all our men chase after them
capturing bottom barks into a jar

then by hand we transfer them

A repost but I figure at a time like this who couldn't use a laugh. ;0)

there is this little nymph of a fairy
that lives between the lines of the poem
takes daily strolls through the stanzas
nature opened in sonnet the day she was born

she takes the written word in so gracefully
raises her glass high in a toast
tells those who will listen all the mysteries
of the poems that stir her soul

if this fairy ever needed a reason
for the rhyme, the time would be now
these darkened days cry for desperate ways
where only a fairy can tell

the purity of the poetic essence
the fragrance that permeates the unknown
the heat that burns in the written word
in the poems that she calls her own

there are rumors always flowing
but very little known
about the tiny mischief nymph
fairy of the poem

to her each poems a new beginning
on a trail to wanderlust
an adventure taken to the edge
this fairy of the verse

fussing over every title
tweaking of the lines
adding just the right amount of dust
this fairy of the rhyme

only seen when she lets you in
as she flutters to and fro
taking you to the highest heights
fairy of the poem

I've started adding art work to my poetry on Facebook and Instagram and came across this to add to the perfect picture! I'm under my name on FB and under the name lawnboyz56 on Instagram if you care to check it out!

we're living in a fallen world
reason can no longer be found
where right took flight
with no strings on that kite
and common sense doesn’t come around

we're living in a fallen world
every man, woman, and child
where the thought of a gun
overrides that of love
as people only think of themselves

we're living in a fallen world
where no two sides can agree
it's i, me, and mine
all of the time
instead of focused on others needs

we're living in a fallen world
where every day is a shift of the blame
it's always someone else
never ourselves
when wrong decisions are so often made

we're living in a fallen world
where evil has a hold of the reigns
pulling on man
in every wrong direction
drinking from the fiery lake

we're living in a fallen world
where opposite draws the map
with its own border lines
right is wrong, wrong is right
with nary an eye being bat

we're living in a fallen world
where it is plain as day and night
except to those
whom along the way choose
what will soon show to be the wrong side

She said my dear I know you love me
I came back with the same, you know I do
What she said next took away my breath
As she had me chew on this hardened truth

She said yes but are you in love with me
No need to even guess how I was taken back
That question dug in deep as she was once my greatest need
At some point I had let that need inside me lapse

Which brings about a time for deep soul searching
As I let life get in the way of my love for sure
In busyness we loose the best we have to choose
Which to me is falling back in love with her

We all come dressed
In our Sunday best
Expecting to be wined and dined

We're then taken to task
Without being asked
Which has happened so many times

We live and we love
Till we've had enough
Then go searching for something more

We might take it to heart
But never to far
As we are so easily bored

We reach for the heights
But get burned by the lights
Blinded to where we can't see

We bring our own bags
From relationships past
Ready to burst at the seams

We carry the weight
Of our ball and chains
Thinking it good exercise

We fall for the spiel
When they tell us it's real
When all it is is really lies

I'm falling in love again with you
Though I never did fall out it's true
But each and every single day
There is so much more at play
That's got me falling in love again with you

I'm falling in love again with you
Turning around each day to something new
Knocking me over head and heals
Bending me to your very will
That's got me falling in love again with you

I'm falling in love again with you
The way you bat those baby blues
Up one side and down the next
Not giving this beating heart a rest
That's got me falling in love again with you
