there's a love hate relationship
between paper and pen
as the pen stands hovering
the paper stares back at it

waiting for the moment
a simple thought appears
bringing to the surface
the purpose both are here

they desperately need each other
forever to complain
as the pen tends to scribble
on top of the blank page

looking for the answers
to questions come and gone
the paper needs room to breath
as the pen doodles on

through this love hate relationship
it's easy to see both sides
as the pen stands hovering
the paper waits for it to make up it's mind
With one more thing to do in this journey to prove
Living life down on the farm
Spied his mother’s sheets blowing in the breeze
Grabbed one and headed for the barn

He'd dreamed the likes that he could fly
From the earliest of age
With the sheet he had tied around his back
He began to ascend the bales of hay

Once at the top and seeing the drop
It didn't scare him a bit
Because hero's are made to save the day
And only losers quit

With a running start he played the part
And flew out over the edge
Doesn't take much to know how this would go
As he fell headlong like a ton of lead

At that moment he thought he might have gotten it wrong
Yet too late to worry now
What he feels he needs is a bigger sheet
He'll try on the next go round
Bury me
Neath an old oak tree
Where on a lower limb
You can tie a swing

And then when
You come to visit me
You can always swing
To the memories

Of the precious days
Playing in the park
I was your best friend then
Daddy‘s little girl

And when you feel a push
From the warm South breeze
You might just think the wind
But believe it’s me

Still sitting here after all these years
Thinking of nothing much at all
Nothing much runs through my mind
If I were to make that call

With nothing much to do
And even less to see
Nothing much is all I have
If you were to question me

Nothing much I must say
Ever gets in the way
Of the feelings in which I’m dealing
On a daily base

If there’s ever a need to try and keep
All of this in play
I’d have to lean on nothing much, you see
Then mosey on along my way

There are people always out here searching
For something in which to believe
Certain there's more to the why's and what for
Never once trying, down on bended knee

They tune in and turn on the inside
Of themselves in which they rely
With a good yoga stance, they're hoping to chance
On enlightenment that comes with self-pride

Or maybe perhaps if they chant
A Mantra over and over again
They may find the way to heaven's gate
Bypassing their multiple sins

Some rub the belly of Budda
Or pass out Hari Krishna pamphlets
Never eating meat with cows covering the streets
With a god for every day and circumstance

There are ones that never venture from nature
Finding solace in the hugging of trees
Some look to the stars to find their purpose on Earth
While others might count the tea leaves

God has placed inside every one of us
The deepest in needs and desires
To be one with Him in the forgiveness of sin
But man, always seems to want more

Leaving behind what we were really made for...

pardon me please
but have you seen
the mess over there
here and in-between
we seldom toss
the losses we keep
it's all just a part of the plan

we'll tear it all down
before it's brought up
when it comes back around
will there be enough
more lost than found
well, ain't that just our luck
it's all just a part of the plan

the plan of man
to do us all in
by any means
anyway, that he can
he doesn't think deep
or that far ahead
all this, more or less
the plan of man

who doesn't take credit
when it's all going well
or wash our hands of it
when it's going to hell
the survival of the fittest
or at least of oneself
it's all just a part of the plan

it's easy to lie
when you try and save face
doubly hard to deny
with the faces we make
so why do we try
to get away
it's all just a part of the plan

I met a man
He called me friend
Does he not understand
That I am downtrodden

It doesn't seem to matter
One way or the other
When it comes to love, sir
Aren't we all brothers

Although my circumstance
Has me where I'm at
Here are the simple facts
In the depth of what he said

The way to look at life
Is through God's loving eyes
That is where we'll find
We have no right to criticize

After all aren't we all the same
Flesh and bone, blood and brains
Using the last, little as of late
If we did, then we'd all say

Hello friend,
I hope you understand
That love both does and can
Turnabout the heart of man
And then in turn, change the world we're in
