Her
Her.*
Her *smile

Her voice
Her eyes
Her love
Her laugh
Her warmth
Her existence,
My **everything
the thunder of
a small bird.

a poem grows shadows
and moonscapes,

the moon,
withered sapphires,
undone,
her open windows
a thread of bright
light.

Sometimes I start to crack a small smile as I slowly open one eye

I smell food in the kitchen, so I stop my itchin, and off the couch I do fly

He's opening cans, he's opening cans, I'm so happy I'm up on my toes

I haven't eaten in days, what's a day anyway? I'm not sure that anyone knows

Scoop it out, scoop it out, oh wow, he's mixing it in

He's looking at me, he's smiling at me, so I know my feast will begin

I could give him a kiss, he's the one that I miss

When he's gone it's just not the same

He's the guy with the food that brightens my mood

If only I just knew his name!

Dave? Nope, Jack...hmmm or

In pages of prose I have removed all, and stand before you, naked and exposed

Nothing hidden, so study me well, but know I am vulnerable now

Pay special attention to the scars on my heart

If you look very close, you will see, a void where your love should be
Mutual embrace severed
Out of politeness, leg
Removed from leg we pulled
Apart desiring separation
In the afterglow.

An affair just begun
Is like a morning
After a night of rain, the
Sun sliding through gaps in the
Ceremonious cloud,
Serene, reassuring and secretive.

It was not yet love,
Just *******.
A curious investigation
Of a stranger, hardly known,
Of unspecified views, who
Has not yet freely spoken.

The routine had long ago been fixed,
Inconsequential phrases over coffee,
Denying breakfast, smiles
Without intent. Holding hands
At the door, a kiss,
And then the regretful goodbye.
A voice remembered as a sigh
A movement as pleasure,
No other memory but the callow scent
Of brief uncertain intimacy.

The above 20 lines are in invisible ink
It took me all day, tell me, what do you think?

If I had known it was the LAST time I would climb on your mountains

If I had known it was the LAST time I would lay in your dew misted valley

If I had known it was the LAST time I would feel your warmth seducing my skin

If I had known it was the LAST time I would taste your sweet waters

If I had known it was the LAST time I would breathe your spring flowers

If I had known it was the LAST time...

I would have traced each step until the path became clear

I would have laid in your valley until the morning was near

I would have soaked in your sunshine and never be cold

I would have  bottled your waters to drink when I'm old

I would have breathed you all in and then hold my breath

And the memory of you I'ld  take to my death
I invite comments good and bad! My skin is leather. I'm a novice and wish to improve!
