Strolling, the clouds
Are rolling, they abound
And surely they've found
A purely new sound

But towns have found that clouds come down
In rain, to panes
Their windows are loud

With respect, they see
That without them, they'd be
Lost in the toss
Of a barren dirt sea

The window
So cold
Though the
Air is warm
And still
For Kelley A Vinal, whom I though might like this.

Kelley A Vinal
She checks her wristwatch
Counterclockwise
Against her former expectations
Of the metal
Around her wrist
She checks her digital clock
The one on the stove
That flashes
Flash, flash, flash, flash
Like a silent metronome
When the power goes out
And comes back on
12:31
12:30
12:29
Calm
She is still calm
Breathing
Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale
Steady
Like the bobbing of a buoy, bouncing
Brazenly in open sea
You see
She sees
That time can be trickery
That conceptual thoughts
Provoke mystery
Illusions and delusions
Conclusions and intrusions
Seclusion
She has many things
About which
To think

Herbs in the window
Slowly flavoring the stone
Of a fire-lit home

A whistle so shrill
Pick some dried sage from the sill
The tea is ready

There are 10 kinds of people in this world,
and binary accounts for them all.

They're happy and sad.
They're ones and zeros.
Villains and heroes.
Villains, yet not all bad.
Despite everything life decides to hurl;
Despite every brick ball of fear
Through the stained glass windows of their minds,
Through it all, they survive.
They're angry and glad.
They're happy and sad.

And in their duality, they're still smiling there
at your sharp hasty words
at your venomous hurt
that you wish so desperately they, too, shared.
Love thy enemy.

Special thanks to Kelley A Vinal for the binary inspiration. You can read her poetry here: http://hellopoetry.com/kelley-a-vinal/

It's pretty solid.

Edit: Holy Daily, Batman! Wow, I'm so honored. Glad you all like it so much! :D

Jimbo is awesome.
This is a poem for him.
A haiku, rather.

I heard him say
"I love you"
Like he used to say to me
Like he just said
To the universe, by my side
Screaming from the rooftops
I heard the words
Impassioned
Meant for some other heart than mine
Without a hint of warning
A back turned
A faded smile
A hole in my chest
Where his heart once beat
Me, without a word
I watch the words fly on the breeze
I close my eyes
And hear them just for me
One last time
As the tinkling laughter
The sound of being loved
Glides off in the distance
Now, all I can hear
Is the wind howling through
The cavern where our hearts once lived
