"Saintly Green"

when it grows old the sun will dim

        a wizened rheumy eye

                 which peeped a sea

black velvet and diamond with prisms

sparkly shine and mingle of vortex

gravity well     hot rocks     clammy dirt

                   clinging to the roots of

        saintly green cabbages

i see a pattern
ten thousand years old
new colors new voice
same oh same oh
nothing new is here now
same oh same oh
see the past here now
same oh same oh

"Saturday"

i say her eyes
they seemed so alive
the white was still glistening
the green still vivid
the dark center a void
to fall into on saturday night

"Says The Boy"

"I love you",
Says the boy with the low IQ
Who can't even tie his shoes
Or cross the street alone.
Who will never marry
And probably die before thirty
Due to his mall-formed body.
"I love you", he says,
And means it.

"Scream The Ragged"

Scream the ragged nerve endings habituated
To far between bodies and touch
Confined within metal house avian, waiting
For movement both physic and cognate
a bit of claustrophobia on a plane ")

Searching

At times
My mind is like
A dusty, empty, bookshelf.
Where do I begin
When there is nothing
To begin with?
writers block?   or   writers heaven?

Genetic thoughts and dreams?
Seems to me these beams
Have double helix schemes
Written all over them      themes
Of we unravel and ravel up skeins
Of id subceived and born to scenes
Serene or mean or in-between
Base mean of plodding      full sheen of joy

Self-dead multitudes in time
       seen but subseen
Folds captive seems of mind.

Beings in a mouse house we peer
       the mansion, error
Other than, and fear.

"Selfish Pain"

To train the slaves without their knowledge to
Toil with strenuous intent, a worthy
Task for many a stout capitalist.
To cause a continuous increase in
The seeking population through shaping
Their very souls to fear the wrath of god
If they in lifted joy should copulate
Or please outside archaic man made laws
And reproductive goals, a worthy task
For many who crave the mind control of
Religious power to mold a world which
Caters to their selfish pain filled hearts.

Burst a billion neurons

"Sequenced"

Little slice of piece of pie
                                             yellow tangerine sky
                                                               home to vagrant clouds
                                                of mist
                                        with names given to each
                            a noisome wind
                                                            together with
                       permission to subsist
                                               on beauty alone
                                                                  if need be
                               its yours
                                              for a price
                                   worth it though
                                                                   maybe
                       i don't know
                                                      you think
                                  granted
                                                     a long path
                                                                                treadles
                        come to light
                                            emerge

                                                                          now
                         it takes
                                           a gather
                                                             of compassion
                                                                                       to gentle
                                     the brindled
                                                                   principle
                          brain
                                            shouts
                                                              we do
                                              then
                                                                       we see
                        corporeal mobility

"Shadows"

Shadows lose their terror
    When the light is steady
   They stay sharp and clear
  And well defined
They are seen as they are
     For what they are
   Real shadows
  But when the light flickers
The shadows dance
   And we dance with them
Mark Wanless Nov 2017
"Shaped"

Rolling slowly forward
In a passage of thought
Life unfolds.

Each succeeding moment
Yields pliant reality
To our mold.

Mark Wanless Jul 2023
i saw a venue in mind
walking towards the shore
of consciousness once more

many generations of me
splashes among the sea
and it is a heartfelt kind

the echoes resound dimly
i think i hear words
or just an error simply

softly i transverse
in my dreams
the whole universe

awake i am human
Mark Wanless Nov 2017
Silk tight
Is woven life
From moment to moment
Chosen and unchosen
Threads intermingle
Clear is the pattern seen
In our dreams
Uncared-for       unremembered
Unceasing
