If lack of information is a pain
Misinformation is at least twice the pain
Misinformation, often used by some
For their selfish gains
It happened high up on top while we were on the mount
The mount seemed to rock back and forth
Suddenly there was an immediate shake
All I could say was  “For Heaven’s Sake”
We realized we were in a middle of an Earthquake
There was certainly no place to run
We were in the Arizona desert in the hot sun
As we looked across the vast horizon to look upon
We could see in the distance where damage had been done
Cactus Trees were falling down
Mountain upon Mountain of rubble hurling from all around
There were no people to be found
Suddenly a stillness of shock was our only silent sound
The Earthquake may have eased down, but what about the aftershocks
Perhaps I spoke too soon
This could very well be our own doom
Debris was starting again to fly all over
There was no place to take cover
High up on the mount we were
We were certainly at the mount peak far
We didn’t see any sight of any car
But we seemed to survive an Earthquake’s rage
This could happen at any age
It was just another of God’s amaze.

Black coffee
Half and half cream
She sips it slowly
As her head screams
It's just what she needs
To awaken her senses
The caffeine soothes
Makes her feel less defensive
She knows the day
Is about to begin
Very soon she will have to
Put on that fake grin
She's grown tired
Of having to be nice
To people she'd rather
Not look at twice
She's been searching
For the humane part of humanity
But lately all she can seem to find
Is plain old insanity
People running the race like rats
She wishes they'd all get eaten by cats
People walking around like ticking time bombs
Just waiting to blow, when anything goes wrong
People with egos so big and so wide
Who care only about themselves
It's like their souls have died
Black coffee
Half and half cream
She wishes she could
Finally wake up from this dream
How do you find yourself when you've been lost for so long
You stopped trying to get back to the path you were on?
Is the person I was before gone?

Too much time has been spent focusing on the past
Without it this reality would not exist
But settling in the comfort of familiarity is not growth

This new reality is the next step
It's uncomfortable
But there's no more time
for experiments
test runs
or observation

Time to glance ahead
With feet planted in the present
Not because the future is bright
Like everyone chatters about
But because it's coming
And it's coming now

Hard lessons have yet to be learned
Deaths and heartbreak will be mourned
Catastrophies will turn back the clock
Undoing everyone's hard work

Only so much growth can sprout from the nutrients of one event
And survival results in a layer of strength just to be worn off by the next wave
I'm panicking a lot about the future. Usually I don't need to look ahead, but some things in my life are telling me I have to.
