Falling in love is as
beautiful as watching
the sun shining on the rain
in Spring
An ineffable yearning,
Is serendipity,
A blissful sorrow,
Is not lucid.

Falling in love is
picking shards of
broken glass knowing
you'll bleed,
Is a veritable tornado,
The eye of a hurricane
flattening everything in
it's path
And it doesn't abate

It's roller-coaster you must ride

Only to throw up after.
even though life feels like hell
it is well
even though i don't know what tomorrow awaits
it is well
even though it seems like heartbreak will never end
it is well
You are who you say You are and
it is well
You know everything so
it is well
You say
it is well
and give me the faith to say
*it is well
Today is a sad day, but i can say it is well.
There are generations of kings
and peasants buried in my bones
though I claim to be neither
riches and starving stomachs
reside in my skin
though I've only experienced one
there are daughters and sons
doves and guns
my flesh is a tree
torn from the earth
my death will be
another's birth
Daniel Magner 2014
When it's raining
I can't decide
If it's the sky
Screaming out in agony,
With broken roars of thunder
And brilliant, crashing streaks of lightning
Or
If it's the sky
Releasing all it has to offer
In gentle tears of rain
Filled with all the sorrows
And regrets
Of its blue wonderland.

Maybe the sky
Is never sure how
To release all its anger,
All its sadness,
All its confusion.
And so on some days
It rains,
Crying softly.
And on others,
It screams
And shouts
With thunder.

Maybe we
Are like the sky.

(a.m.)
Today is the yesterday that you'll regret throwing away tomorrow.
i wanted You to speak to me
i wanted to hear your voice
i wanted your words to be brighter than the sun
i wanted You to tell me everything
i wanted You to spell my present
i wanted You to dictate my future
i wanted You to say every word in the dictionary
but instead You kept quiet.
and i realized that in your silence
You said everything.
Poem inspired by a conversation with God in which he remained silent. I wanted him to tell me what to do, but his silence reminded me that I have freedom.
I hate the phrase
"College is the time to try new things"
because it excludes the idea that
you can try new things your entire life
Daniel Magner 2014
Two poets, hopelessly romantic
hearts and minds ablaze
and their love like a fireworks show:
brilliant and bright and beautiful and

     brief.
You'd think I'd learn sometime.
Bought ourselves a ticket on a Greyhound bus
We're both are outta here
Just me and my baby which makes the both of us
The way ahead is clear

We watched the city as it passed away
Reincarnated into wide open plains
She told me, once she'd heard this song
And would I like to play the game

So we played with the faces on that bus
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I told her these days you don't know who you can trust
So be careful of his Bow tie

We traveled from one side of America to another
Then we did it all over again
Where we lived a life time from cover to cover
Two in the Mid West

We finally settled where we both felt free
Out on that wide open plain
We like where we're at but if we ever feel the need
We'll get back on that bus again
The bus game is losely taken from the song America sung by Simon and Garfunkel.
