You'll meet again
And he'll keep you at arms length
Making sure you're not too close to his heart
But not too far from his touch
Tell you words you've melted for before
But words that, for you, he'd never felt at all

If I have a choice to be happy
 at every chance I get
why do I always pick to be sad?

Thanks for dropping by
We had a good talk
Shared a few laughs
Can't wait till we can talk again
Thanks for stopping by. Sorry if you got in trouble for talking to me.

flying, soaring
fields below
flowers and trees
freedom

spread open
wide
waiting for reception
withheld moments

gliding mindlessly
numbing
doubtful
the sun bellows from above

clicking and tapping
claws measuring
distance
timing not scheduled for flight

moon dancing
echoing night
shadowless wings
winter ignites

below they cry
look from there
above your head
it's everywhere

who was it - walking down the school corridor?

a Spanish teacher?

an honors student?

a football player?

you'll never know; you didn't care.

did it feel good,
mister shooter?
to pull the trigger on

a mother?

a best friend?

a boyfriend?

to take the lives of family and friends and lovers of innocent people?

was seeing those who have hurt you
suffer by your hand
worth a life behind bars?

16 years old

yet you think you have the right to take away life?
a week ago they took a gun away from a boy at my friend's school. had someone kept quiet, i could've lost some of the most important people in my life. if you suspect something, say something. the world is scary; stay safe out there.

It's like Rupi Kaur says,
"You should have known."
You should have seen me
as a candle,
you should have felt
me as a flame.
You should have never
tried to hold me,
should have never
changed my name.
I was never merely embers,
I was always made
for pain.

He sees me as a candle
soft and light and
smelling sweet.
Or he sees me as
a wild fire and he
marvels at my heat.
He's the wind and so
he tests me
and I
burn out or I rage.
He's the wind and so
I need him,
to clear away the haze.

He can quench the
flicking candle,
he can feed the
blazing flare.
He can touch me
without burning -
I can't breathe without
his air.
I will never understand
why you held me
if you were afraid of warmth

*you should have known I was a fire*

Out of Sync

I have forgotten how to breathe.

For something so natural,
I’m finding it so hard.

I catch myself talking
through the process.
Much alike coaching
a child to walk.

Each breath is a step
- slow, calculated and clumsy.
And with each successful step
comes the exhilaration
and the confidence.

The next following steps
executed in haste causes
the body to lurch forward.

Losing balance.
Losing composure.

Unready feet caught unawares...
Haphazard footfalls.

I have fallen.
I have forgotten how to breathe.
I’m out of sync...
And I’m at a loss...

Water evaporates,
as will your love for him.
But water comes back
just as your love for him.
