SURVIVAL
 Jan 2020 B
Dr Peter Lim
I will not stay
I can't
here the ground
is sinking
like quicksand
only betrayal
and deceit is found

each word is connived
as though each speaker
within himself carries
a ready lethal knife

they said to me:
' just stay a while'
but I knew the storm
was brewing-  guile
wore an insidious smile

escape routes
they had planned
none had I---
where could I hide?

Postscript:

I left
my life I saved
I survived!

Are You There?

FunSlower
A million imaginary conversations swirling through my head.
Nothing ever plays out right, when all is done and said.

The words I never get to speak, like the name I’ll never know, are unheard, unspoken, yet unforgotten; consuming my everything, ever so slow.
What’s really going on below? And why does it still hurt me so?
Are you still there too? Will you still care to
Help me grow when I just can’t glow?

Please Don’t Go!
You always inspire me, even when you don’t want to.

You must dance
 Jan 2020 B
Lex
There comes a point where you dance.
And not the same for everyone,
but you must dance.
Because when your heart has been still and stuck in sadness
you must give it a little chaos after.
After what, you may ask?
After you're broken.
After your heart feels absolutely shattered to its core.
After you and your love have been at war.
After a long day at work.
Just after.
Anything.
Anything, where your heart has hurt
you MUST dance.
I hope that someday you dance again.
I did.
And I've never been more joyful.

the child
felt space

the emptiness
that

surrounded him

he did not
feel the past

inside of him

he was not
connected

to what came
before

and the future
was formless

imaginations
and dreams

silly string

he could not
attach himself

to them

Now
~
Let’s live a moment for a while,
So caught up in our anxious minds,
Can’t keep alive a basic smile,
In present while being too blind.

Now is the place with one conclusion,
Where past is just a lucid dream,
Where future seems like an illusion,
Two worlds between the current gleam.

And present world is like an ocean,
Waves come and go in such a motion.

Snow

“Aren’t you cold?”
I used to wonder
As you grabbed the snow
The white complimented you
And it kissed your face
As the cold flushed it
You crafted sculptures
And fairytale stories
With you kindness
And gentleness
You stuck those faces
On our school’s walls
And I always took pictures
I wish I had kept them
They would’ve comforted me
But they’re forgotten now
In that freshly fallen snow
It was cold today, I decided to hide inside. While I was running towards my bus stop, it started snowing heavily. It just reminded me of the miniature snowmen she would make.

Rules

Blurry Vision
I thought everything had an outline,
Everyone had an outline,
Poetry even had an outline.

There are no rules here,
Wake up,
Step outside of the box,
Color outside of the lines,
Break the rules.

Nothing matters.
