you liked your coffee black
no sugars, no milks
just black

it’s sickening, you once said
bitter’s the only way to go

i didn't quite understand it then
but i think i do now;

i guess too much sugar
isn’t good for anyone;
much less a boy
already made of molasses.
his order has always been the easiest to remember
(and it doesn't hurt that he has a face like that, too)

i don't need you to dream about me
nightmares will do just fine
as long as you don't live without me
as long as i stay on your mind

If you think the moon has a soul
And the trees are whispering your name
If you can feel the pulse of a mountain
And see advancing armies in the clouds
Start writing, you're thinking like a poet

Confide all you want
But listening ears bleed too
If only you’d see

the room smelled of spilled wine
before the lampshade totally went off
a nightgown was seen on the floor
now the room smelled of more than just lust
- it was love, a violent one
oh, imagine the aftermath
thanks for the word!
sneaking some writing amidst the busy schedule
Said the sea to the shore “you don’t love me anymore
All the good times seem like long forgotten chores
While sunshine ***** my waters making rain
I’ll visit other shores where I have lain
Make trees and grass and flowers grow again
Make harmony with clouds the sky I lend
Yet your sandy walk I will forever tend
Though you forget it’s time itself I bend”

Said the shore to the sea “you truly take me wrong
We will touch throughout eternity in song
Though moonlight is the mate for which I long
We’ll touch your tides like members of your tong
Make swirling currents beautiful and strong
For time is but the mask where we belong”

Said the sea to the shore “take comfort in my lust
For I turn even iron and steel to rust
Like the oceans of night’s sky I will remain
To touch your soul with yet a new refrain
That we may yet be lovers once again”

flatten your tongue
slip it between your teeth

n.

your little lips
forming an elipsis

o.

put them together
and may you declare
a word you’d so carefully deny—
no.

you spell it out
on table tops
shout it
from the rooftops

and when cursed hands
seek to defile your shrine
may you exclaim
"i am mine"
for my precious friends with hearts too soft to say no. may you be a little more selfish.
