You said the right things
You flattered and charmed
Convinced and promised
Until I was disarmed

Your words were golden
They sparkled and shined
They shined so brightly
I must have gone blind

I invested myself
In the words you sold
But all that glitters
Is not gold

I've always heard
That talk is cheap
Well my words are diamonds
And yours are free

You don't mean what you say
You don't do what you mean
Your words are free
But they're costing me
I
live
the
poetry
that
I
cannot
write..
It is pretty hard to interpret day to day life in such a short statement..but here it is..! #life #short #simplicity

What's in his mind?
One cup of labor
Two scoops of pain
Three scoops of lust
Issues with trust
Four cups of distress
One more for the rest
And five milligrams
of pessimism at best

What's in his heart?
One tablespoon of pride
Two teaspoons of shame
A spoonful of ambition
One third expedition
Two-thirds of abolition
A half a cup of absentee
Another half depravity

What's in his soul?
A recipe I have yet to know
This was fun, I hope I did swell. Here's a link for the instructions to this challenge. http://hellopoetry.com/poem/1042851/the-recipe-challenge/
Creatures of the night,
Seduction in our voices,
My prey caught in a web of lies.
Open your eyes, you naive creature,
I've captivated you with
my enticing words,
But look into my eyes,
See the distance, the coldness.
I am a monster.
You should fear me, and yet,
you allow me to bewitch you.
I have the instincts of a predator,
But I feel sorry for how helpless you are.
Powerless, naive, open your eyes,
See the truth in this monster's facade.
Vampire legends are quite interesting. Beasts in human form.
(Once again, playing with perspective. Put yourself in someone else's shoes for once.)
My hands wander a smooth cold wall
Knowing that it’s more than merely tall
Muffled emotions illuminate the air
Even when no one is there
But I’ve always been here
You just haven’t felt me near
So, I’ll meet you on the other side
Where there’ll be nothing left to hide
Because I refuse to leave
No matter what you care to believe
Stop trying to hide the longing in your eyes,
You’ve been noticed,
There’s nowhere to hide now.
Layer upon layer and these lines in the sand
form the little mirror we hold in our hands
facet upon facet we're unsure of its price
wade through the water to skate on thin ice
season upon season we change with the years
the shoreline keeps moving but I'm still right here
whisper upon whisper you will give your all soon
a meandering river that wanes like the moon
trial upon trial but the waves bring me home
will I see you there waiting or still be alone
Twist in remorse but dont endorse change
kiss all my sores then make more of the same
smile at my face then replace all your teeth
guile's not your strength I see fangs underneath
shout with your voice make a choice to conceal
out are the words but unheard is what you feel
the one, together forever we've made what we are
the sun's my attention not to mention...it's only a star
Turn your eyes from the truth
and pretend you know nothing.
Foolish child, the truth cannot be changed.
Forgotten moments, demented lies,
with the fading truth of the matter.
Innocence is a sin.
It's easier that way,
to pretend everything is fine.
How selfish, how childish.
Turn you eyes from the truth,
and sin, eyes wide, naive.
Time waits for no one,
you cannot stay in this simple life.
Innocence is a sin,*
and you can no longer be forgiven
for your ignorance.
