Why can't anybody hear me?
I scream til my face turns blue
A lot of people stare at me
Like they're just passing thru

They act like I'm invisible
They don't hear a word I say
I keep calling out their names
But they just walk away

What was this thing I did
To make them all be so rude
They act like they're hiding
Or maybe trying to elude

And even my own children
Acted like I just don't exist
I tried calling to my wife
But she would only resist

It must have been horrible
This thing that I did
Then nothing but darkness
As they closed the coffin's lid

The only words a man needs to know
When he leaves his wedding day
Is yes dear and no dear while nodding his head
And of course whatever you say

It seems like men get dumber
When they put on that wedding ring
His house is not his castle
And He's no longer the king

He tells her, "No, your're not getting fat"
At least twenty times a day
While biting his tongue 'til he can't even talk
When her mother comes over to stay

"Take out the trash and feed the dog"
"Dont forget to mow the grass"
While taking the blame for that stinky smell
Each time she passes gas

But what happened to that make-up?
It's now a thing of the past
And now she screams "Get out of bed"
"Good morning" didn't last

They say that marriage is blissful
And there's nothing greater in life
And now you know my opinion
But I still better ask my wife

Have you ever really wondered
What poems really are
It's something hidden inside of us
That we carry like a scar

It's simply raw emotion
That we're molding on each day
'Til the words come out perfected
And we know just what to say

The pen then meets the paper
Like two strangers from afar
Without any sure direction
Like a helpless falling star

It tells us who a person is
Or who they strive to be
It tells us of their *******
And the words that set them free

Some will simply make us smile
While others will make us cry
Some will make us laugh out loud
Or leave us asking why

It's more than pen and paper
It's a burden inside our heart
And if we cannot set it free
It will tear our world apart

He wonders why she left him
As he stumbles to the bed
He just needed to take a minute
Some time, to clear his head

When he got home, her clothes were gone
No note was ever found
She didn't even say goodbye
She didn't even make a sound

Married now for fifteen years
And she threw it all away
He just didn't understand it
How could she leave this way?

He opens another bottle
And takes him a couple sips
He numbs the pain like everyday
As the whiskey crosses his lips

He says, "Why didn't she leave a message?"
His head too cloudy to think
"I didn't do anything wrong", he says
And then takes another drink

The message was in the bottle
He was just to blind to see
She begged him to stop drinkin'
But it wasn't meant to be

The artist tried his very best
To paint your portrait true
But his brush refused to touch the canvas
For nothing, is as beautiful as you

The flowers faint, as you walk by
As they marvel at your radiant smile
All the stars reflect your glow
As the moon is shunned in denial

The poet's pen refuses to write
And his paper has run away
For there's no words, to describe your beauty
And there's simply just nothing to say

Even Shakespeare could not create
A poem, to equal your grace
For if he could, a sonnet would exist
That told of your breathtaking face

The Mona Lisa has lost her smile
When she heard of a beauty so pure
Time itself, has ceased to exist
Captivated, by your enticing lure

The hearts of men will hold your image
For you're truly one of a kind
They'll tell of the treasure that was simply known
As the beauty that was undefined

Somewhere on a battlefield
A man lays hurt and dying
While a million miles away
A mother is somewhere crying

Just one more day in hell
Where someone gave his life
His children, without a father
A widow for his wife

Asked to serve his country
In a far and distant land
Giving all he had to give
Then, dying in the sand

Hero's are born and never made
Just doing what is right
And in his darkest hour
His fear becomes his light

To some he's just a number
Not knowing the things he's done
But to me he's much more than that
To me he's someone's son

Somewhere beyond the dying embers light
A spark of hope will rescue me
Though the flames are now long since gone
The smoke still sets me free

An eternal flame now forever silenced
But a breeze of redemption blows my way
The darkness steals your name from my lips
But you memory still beckons me stay

The fire still burns within my soul
My breath filled with the ashes of rejection
The love I feel envelopes me whole
'Til the heat has scorched my reflection

Consumed by the flame that warmed my heart
As I burn but will not die
The smoke of regret fills the empty night
As it settles through this hollow sky

A spark of hope is all that I seek
To raise these embers once more
A gentle whisper will ignite the flames
'Til again this fire shall soar
