when I feel like this
I feel the stars collapse from their esteemed position
Ordering me to carry the torch that holds the light.

when I feel like this
I feel the whole of the mighty ocean dry to dust-
******* up all of its creatures and all of their children,
spitting them back out into my lap,
The mother whales beggin me
to search for new water.

when I feel like this
I feel the ends of my nerves surrender back into themselves,
racing towards the top of my spine,
Cursing that they will never allow me to feel again
As they pass off the duty to my pale, empty skin of my fingertips.

when I feel like this
I feel the world setting itself on fire from its innermost core,
willing the flames to climb to the top of the tallest tree,
trying desperately and without fault to toss an ember onto a cloud
And in that second when the sky and the earth become nothing but smoke-
I hear it laugh at me and tell me to strip it of its oxygen
So that I could stop the burning before it began.
