Forbidden love
you’re a bittersweet existence
Daily I’m speared through the gut
With weapons of nonexistence

A tribal ritual of survival in my blindness
I’m weakened by dreams you can’t see
Orange evenings are departing
And raging red commands the skies

Captive love runs in panicked rings
in search of escape from fate
Heads thud to tribal drums
Hearts spill open
A predator of my own kind

Willing prey, praying for your love
To release me from freedom
Sonnet, poem, love

How it looks, like bold perfection floating on a cloud
Strong yet round, palpably profound
How I see it in my body and my eyes
Gripping to my mind, dancing on my ribcage
I taste hot excitement of metallic and wood
Fresh cut grass and sandalwood
You come alive inside my mouth
Layered complexities arouse my tongue
My eyes are alive, my heart races to the beat of you
The garden sings with life and eagerness
When your name is around

Sun beats down on bare skin
Beauty surrounds me
Nature sings
The sky, a canvas blue
I think of you
Penetrating my mind
I try to pass thoughts by
As strong as the sun
Admiring lambent buttercups
I daydream of your smile
Migrating plane of climbing heights
The tail of fuel it leaves behind
And I’m back to you
Index finger tracing my spine
Tan lines adjust with time
Sweet notes roll in the gift of breeze
Reaching my corner where I pretend to sleep
I should water my pink roses

Come
Lay with me
Look at the moon
Silvery
With one leg under the covers
She still pulls the sea
And you closer to me

The night slipped away
Through my fingers
I lost all reason
I clung to rhyme
But the words were as fluid as water
Seeping back to crystal rivers
The moon desired one last look
I saw your eyes glisten
I lost gravity
Suspended, sporadic love
Reminiscent of your touch
Clusters of tiny stars
Cling to my skin
Even galaxies dream

Poetry doesn’t speak of monotony
Routine unplanned forever
Life and love and risks of lust
Down secret, leafy walkways
Hypocrisy regularly meets contradiction
So I dance on the knife edge of life
I toss fairytale endings in the street bin
At the end
Of simple times
Picking blackberries
I stopped searching for the moral in the fable
Desire will break rocks to get what it wants
The sun won’t stop until it explodes
Cold steel blade takes away my breath
Momentary rush of untimely death
I feel alive

Life comes
It falls at your feet
You came
You fell at my feet
With smoothed pebbles
And calm confusion
With the familiar taste
Of unfamiliarity
With one leg out of the covers
Playing guitar hips
With soft lips
We conversed in silence
