i'll hum to you
a melody
i'll sing to you
a song
that pain will cease
you will find peace
i hope you
sing along

children listen to me
poets please give ear
feel the pain
in this refrain
i hope that you will hear

there are ships
sailing the sky
don't you worry
question why
they drop stardust
where you lie
hear the
poet's lullaby

poets
keep on loving
for this is what
we do
we have dreams
we have schemes
to keep
that love renewed

poets
keep on living
be all that you can be
young or old
your tale's told
write it down
be free!

there's a ship
your muse is near
let her listen
let her hear
give your poetry
and tears
hold on to what
you hold most dear

yes, your ship is sailing
on a sea of ink
once again
you'll dip your pen
once again you'll think

but for now
you're weary
your eyes begin to close
feel the drift
into the rift
where ink

forever flows

This poem is dedicated to
Pastor Tina Michelle

I hope she reads this before she goes to sleep... and may its soothe her into slumber!

♡ GOD BLESS YOU, TINA! ♡
Open cavity in my chest

Heart thumping wildly in my open palm

Blood splattered on the pavement
                               and my luggage

As I stand at the bus stop

And wait for a ride to the train
Written after a sleepless night of sweaty skin sticking to a leather couch
she crawls slowly through the mist
in the forest of demise
where the dark paths turn and twist
hidden from the open skies

where secret screams exist
going there would be unwise
the lips of pain are gently kissed
as another victim cries

if you find yourself in her midst
never look into her eyes
pretend she doesn't exist
don't be the next who dies
.
There was a rose I saw once bloomed,
Cuddled in stone yard garden, set free,
To fire in midsummer fields maid loom,
On the village path that ends by the sea.

The wind dances with you in the sun

O rose of happiness and of sorrows,
My heart is in bloom as you are true,
I love a boy so grand and unknowing
And I have no words, or song, or tune.

My heart sings with you in the sun

Little wee flower, who danced me away,
My dear companion, for a soul set free,
Nestled within walls of stone on parade,
Till one morn gone on a walk to the sea.

*Winds and my heart break in the sun
This is an echo
A poem
That I have written
A thousand times

This is a rainstorm
Of humanity
A shower of grace
With thundering compassion

This is a sunny day
Where people learn
Not to hate
Forget the warring ways
And say
We will be ok

This is a love story
Not in a book
But written in a look
In one daily act
And then another

This is humanity
A spark you see
Of what I want to believe
That you and me
And everyone we see
Can be kinder
Wiser
Not prone to the hate speech
Of rich political hucksters
Not working the will
Of loudmouth proselytizers
Picking up new text books
Not old dogmas

This is the hopeful promise
That I tender in this poem
We can be better
