The hope we carry
day to day
needs the light
to find it's way,

the peace we harvest
row by row
needs the light
to help it grow,

the patience protected
though the storm
needs the light
to keep it warm,

the faith we have
from God above
needs the light
to yield His love,

the love we share
and pass along
needs the light
to carry on,

for God is light
will always be
now and through
eternity,

as the day
redeems the night
there is no mystery
in light.

The sacred heart
pierced repeatedly
with love and loss
sharpened arrows,
begs the questionable
value of sorrow,
while placing
redemptive power
in the holiest
of places
amidst God's
everlasting graces.
Kathryn Heim Nov 2016
I searched the earth
I searched the skies
I searched the simple
I searched the wise
I searched for any
sacred place
that would treasure, keep
and guard God's grace.
I searched the temples
I searched the sea
I searched the forests
and towering trees
I searched the grave
I searched the tomb
I searched a newborn
from the womb
I searched a church
I searched the home
I searched a trail
where many roam,
I searched until
I could not see
and it was then
God said to me
"spread my joy
and live my love,
proclaim my peace
as does the dove,
know that these
are good and true
and the sacred place
can be found
in you."

The sun shines brightest
on a dead winter day
soothing my soul
in the simplest way.

I cannot deny
what lives inside
it 's too loud to silence,
too big to hide.

I pray for all
who can't find their way
and can't feel the sun
on a dead winter day.
Kathryn Heim Sep 2016
The things that matter
most to me
are things that others
cannot see,
for I've been blessed
or somewhat dealt
with eyes that see
what can be felt.
So when I write
I try to show
that all of this
here below
is God's creation,
not a world that's lost
and he loves us dearly,
loves us most.

the wood from the tree
that saved me
did not worry over what would be.

it grew patient and strong
with dignity
and knew its purpose
selflessly.

year after year
the wood from the tree
knew it's role
in humanity.

and we are all part
of the wood from the tree
bound together
by destiny,
and in the end
we shall see
the wood from the tree
bearing our
eternity.

Think not ill of others,
every time you do
those thoughts with no good purpose
will spin their fate on you.

Through the darkness
of my death
with my last dying breath,
I closed my eyes
and said a prayer
born of faith,
not of fear.
Above all things,
beyond all days
lives the mystery
of God's ways,
for out of my
breathless sound
I became
heaven bound.

I have something silly to say
and I am saying it anyway,
I want to tell Tiramisu
"Tiramisu, I love you."

And you may scoff at what I said,
and may not believe what you just read,
but I must confess my words are true
as my love for Tiramisu.

Courage in life
does not deceive,
the facts remain
in what we believe.

The hardest times
we ever face
are the moments
touched by grace.

Love's the unspoken
truth we share
while we search
for those who care.

Just know the world
before our eyes
usually wears
a grand diguise.

But if you live
with prayers inside,
then heaven's map
will be your guide.

Birds flying in the sky,
transfigured from the nests
they lie.
A flower blushing nature's hues
transfigured from it's seedy shoes.
On the cusp of being caught
cells transfigure into thought.
Laughter breaks monotony' s pause,
transfigured from a joyous cause.
Dawn's soft welcome morning light,
transfigures the mystery of night.
Days from hours disappear
as time transfigures into years.
Mercy sent from God above
is grace transfigured from His love.

finding love
amidst opposing
ideologies.

constantly
pursuing and upholding
the respect and dignity of each and every
fellow human being
above everything else.
Always.

let's put our TRIUMPH glasses on.

Oh dew of morning
and frost of night
that starts the day
and ends the night,
so peace and joy
shall accompany me
forever in eternity.

Joy shared
is happiness
justified
and hope shared
is magnified.
Blessed was Elizabeth
when she heard
Mary's twice blessed
miraculous words.
Kathryn Heim Mar 30
was grace that fed
my starving fate
and gifted treasures
on my plate
and made my being sure
and strong
to travel life
however long.
and grace stayed close
and ever dear
through every laugh
and every tear
and in the
end will carry me
to meet God in eternity.

We are called to love,
Plain as day.

Obvious even if
You do not pray.

All of our thoughts should
Help us portray

The things that our hearts
Should lovingly say.

In the name of love
We should abide,

But our emotions get lost
In the tears we've cried.
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
A marriage,
a miracle,
a story
to tell
of Christ
transforming
water from
the well.

His first miracle,
her gentle request,
wine was needed
for all of the guests.

He is still trasforming
in different ways,
and
miracles happen
everyday.

We honor plants
We honor trees
We honor birds
We honor bees
We honor all creatures
Of the seas
And all contained in nature's
breeze.
When human life
Through self
And greed
Is not honored
It is diseased,
For life is not a choice.

God have mercy
On you and me.
Kathryn Heim May 2018
We write
so many words
that inspire, encourage or
simply adorn,
because the rawest emotion
from the day we are born
is suffering and pain,
the lost soul in a storm.

Our words, if you will
can soothe the downtrodden
strengthen the wayward
place peace in our sight
give hope and heal
therefore,
we write.

What does death
want of me
the minute that
I cease to be?
For I will look death
in the eye
and know that it
will always try
to rob me of
those things I know
that nurture love
and help it grow,
the truth that lingers
in the night
is worth the struggle
and the fight
to conquer death
and all it's woes
remember this
and how it goes,
death's cause defeated
a sacred shun
happened when
God sent His son.

what is Love
if all we see
is everything
me, me, me.

Love redeemed
is
Love expressed
nothing more
nothing less.
Kathryn Heim Dec 2016
My Lord and Savior
said to me
the truth is what
you cannot see,
it's what you feel
and what you give,
who you love
and how you live,
it's the things
you keep
within your heart,
but faith must be
there from the start.
Kathryn Heim Oct 2016
Are you circling the drain
or are you singing
in the rain?

We all face our destiny
within our own
reality.
Kathryn Heim Jul 2017
when emotions squeeze my heart
and stir the contents of my soul
I cry.

when the world is going one way
and my mind says "no way."

when my love goes off
the deep end
of this ocean
we call life

I cry.
Kathryn Heim Feb 22
why not pray,
what do you say?
nothing to lose on any day.

prove me wrong
and to that I say
God is patient
the day is long
so
why not pray?
Kathryn Heim Aug 2024
we are not defined by color
we are not defined by race
and continuing to do so
only breeds disgrace.

our skin is a mere shell
our  feature's our decor,
when will we all realize
we are made of so much more.

the ignorance of judgement
has no sanity or shame,
while the prejudice in hate
forever fans the flame.

the substance of our goodness
is born within the heart
learning to look inside ourselves
is where we all should start.
Kathryn Heim Aug 2024
HOPE is a word,
a promise of faith
rich and lasting.

To pair it with politics
is disrespectful and cheap,
poor casting.

The Audacity.
Kathryn Heim Jul 1
What is your favorite word?
A word that hugs
A word that heals
A word that thinks
A word that feels.

And if your favorite word
Is in a song
Is it so common or so rare
That you would choose
Not to share?

Big or bold
Soft or loud
Will your word
Move a crowd?

Above all words
Above the sky
Above our purpose
That will not die,
Our words should live
And stand alone
Fragile as breath
Yet strong as stone.

Immortal as a shining star
Words showcase
Who we really are.
Kathryn Heim Nov 2018
your truth is
pure
my Savior
sure
faith born
of
redemptive
love
desire to
be
joined with
Thee
forever in
eternity
where perceived
death
is heaven's
breath.
