I'm your dark reflection
Hear the people singing

Fighters, lovers
Lonely women on they'r own in the cool spring time air

Look me in the eye

In this mirror will you see me
Deteriorating?

Come miss, let's go outside and go for a walk

Golden sunshine, starry night time
Afternoon rush hour, it is crunch time

I am doubtful next to my boyfriend
Walk me to The Grand Canyon
Where my secrets can fill it's spaces

Salads with dressings of kings
Licorice candy, water of plenty
Sleep in my bed he said to the sightseer
Calling her attention to his desires

I'm leaving now
You are to forceful
My body is temple
It's not yours it is mine

Give me your goose
Your golden egg laying goose
I'm down on my luck
And need a karat or two

Walking the highway
All by myself
I am in transit
There are no pit stops

Look in the mirror
Lady of fortune
I am what you see
But not what you are

I still can't sleep at night.
To this day,
I can't hold my head up when I walk through the halls.
To this day,
I question every part of who I am; who I was.
To this day,
I wonder if I'll ever  be someone.
              To this day,
                    To this day,
                         To this day,
My worries have become more than just a burden.

Dear Daughter

I've only been on this earth for 17 years
But already had the good honour of experiencing
evil and good from the youth of my peers

My precious vessel, you deserve nothing but the best
learn from my mistakes and make your life rest

One: The acne on your face does not determine how beautiful you as a person
Neither you're weight, height or stature. Your skin a shade of wonder, wear only the (dna) makeup of me and your father

Two: Your body is your temple, not a museum for those who want to feast on your flesh, for those dead eyes are shady and they want nothing less.

Three: Fall in love with everything around you, the stars, sky and moon. The sound of laughter, the rain drops too. Look from balconies and trees at the veins of the cities. And take pictures of people and weddings, savouring silver white memories.

Four: Make your own mistakes and learn. You are allowed to feel pain, there is still blood in you veins but don't let that sweep you away away away on dandelion heads

Five: Dearest, don't worry for a moment what they think; be prepared when they want to see you sink, respond with dimples, sunshine and light. For this is what makes the darkness strike

Six: Finally My girl love yourself, for all that you are and want to be; the music you love, the food you detest, those long family outings and that boy that you like best.

The list could go on and on with verse and song and book and word but Dear Daughter let this be the basis of your life. Carry it and write it on your flesh beating heart. For your flesh beating heart deserves life in it fullest.

Just a draft, but a letter to my future daughter if I ever have one about how to survive life as a teen from a fellow teen. You never know in 10 years I may re- write this.

You were the stranger with which I fell in love;
You were the emptiness that became my own fulfillment;
You were the outline that absorbed every colour of the spectrum when you spoke to me;
You were the face of a man whose soul became my greatest fascination;
You were the new unexplored place which became my truest home;
You were the one I never knew, but I always loved.

Lucky Leonard Letsbe
Doesn’t have a care
Shopping for a futon
Fussing with his hair
Suddenly, commotion
People running scared
Poor Leonard Letsbe
Unprepared

Leaping Leonard Letsbe
Running like the blazes
Smoke inhalation
Cuts and grazes
Sheltered in a bistro
Bitten on the ear
Silly Leonard Letsbe
Feeling queer

Dying Leonard Letsbe
Twitching for a while
Sitting bolt upright
Dead man’s smile
Chewing on a trucker
Right where he sat
Hungry Leonard Letsbe
Havin’ some of that

there is an art
to being still
and allowing
the world to
enfold you.

If ever, oh ever, you happen to meet
A poor giant ****** while out on the street
Pay him no mind but do not lower guard
For the lives of giant midgets are puzzling and hard
For trapped deep inside the six foot illusion
Hides three feet of anger, made worse by confusion
Struggling to figure out why so much space
Has been given to such a short, height-challenged race
To move among people, just trying to fit in
When on the inside they don't fit their own skin
The rage and the hatred they've let manifest
Into a mad need to put us to the test
To figure out why, when we fit our insides
There are places inside us where emptiness hides
Which we try to fill up with things we don't need
When all that they want is a chance to be freed
But if they could see that in fact we don't fit
Our minds contain people with nowhere to sit
Each with a voice that commands us to do
What it wants instead of what we want to do
Each one so loud as to drown out the rest
Each one insisting what it knows is best
Leaving us mostly distressed and confused
Our poor little brains worn out and abused
If they could just see that although they reside
Inside such a cavernous, double-sized hide
We are really no different than they
We all have our problems that won't go away
But they are alone, no one else in their mind
Festering within the shell they're confined
And we have the voices that tell us to guard
Against giant midgets, who have it so hard
A much earlier write. Shel Silverstein was a heavy influence to this.
