On Father's Day, we pause,
Reflect on our dad, with cause,
A stoic, smiling, gentle man,
A gift to any woman,
But brave, a digger,
He beat the ****, ripper,
Our land is free,
Because of the brave, you see,
Let's celebrate dads and liberty!
Feedback welcome.

Fat jokes are not funny,
Donald Trump jokes are even less funny,
Wanna be's for power and money,
All those macho day dreams,
Is politics ever what it seems?
What is wisdom? Socrates asked,
A question that sets a task,
Well, fat jokes are not funny,
Donald Trump jokes, so not funny,
Wise sayings, not for money....

I guess I do not like spiders,
They are really predators,
They're even cannibals,
Make us feel vulnerable,
Creeping, menacing, sneaking,
Into my eyesight, they come creeping,
Hairy legs, spider eggs,
Make us feel vulnerable,
With poisoned mandibles,
Do you like predators?
I guess I do not like spiders.....
Feedback welcome.

Here is what I need to say,
We're all human with feet of clay,
So, do lay off us chicks today,
Go look in a mirror some day,
To older men with your spare tyres,
Yes! Your gynaecologist has retired!
Feet of clay ,bit of fun, feedback welcome.

A fiery church in the world,
The flame within, quite a swirl,
The fire still flourishes,
Our souls it nourishes,
The word is spreading in the world,
Faith can heal, give it a whirl,
But you can be too religious, you see,
Let a fiery church heal humanity,
Let's have a peaceful dream,
Make peace, not war, it seems!

It was way back when,
I was married then,
Fire-starters of desire,
Spreading love's sweet fire,
Let's face it, all he was good for!
I divorced that useless predator!

In the darkness, extravaganza,
Flashing, blazing dramas,
Sky rockets and sparklers,
So spectacular,
Fireworks in my brain,
Illumination
Catherine wheels,
Is this for real?
The pyrotechnics,
Was it all a squib?
Crescendo
To diminuendo ....

I float down from clouds above
Another little death of love!
A harmless bit of nonsense. Feedback welcome.

I inherited a rellie's goldfish,
It lives in a calm and placid bliss,
I approach, it blows a fish kiss,
Here,  I own your snacks,
Even the fish knows that,
I'll feed you, you drive the tank,
That's how a fish says "Thanks"!
Bit of nonsense, feedback welcome.

Spent today at a Flea Market with she,
All for nothing, nothing for free,
Bought some clothes for she,
A potplant for me, no ****,
Food and books I didn't need,
All for nothing, nothing for free,
Anything old was new again,
Vendors on the gravy train,
All for nothing, nothing for free,
But, I had fun today for free,
Sunshine and good company,
Simple things in life are free,
Flea market was such fun with she!
A reflection on a fun day.

A verse in an ode, like a song,
In Oz, we call flip flops, thongs,
Perfect for weather in summer,
Hot sands on the beach, a ******,
Yes, each nation is unique,
Flip flops, thongs, make our world complete!
Feedback welcome.

Our lawn mowing man is called 'Flipper',
He does a great job, what a ripper!
He got the flu, we were a bit stiffer,
Our garden was full of triffids!
Then he returned, thank you, Flipper,
Now there are no triffids!

Wouldn't you like to be a 'fly on the wall',
What would be the best moment of all?
in history, when Jesus was born in a stall,
To behold the greatest miracle of all,
Be blessed, earthlings, for ever more!

I'm on a diet again, Oh No!
Giving up favourite foods, woe,
Must reduce my weight,
Before it is too late,
All I dream about is food,
Don't think about men, that's rude!
Yes, definitely food before dudes,
Yo-yo dieting is fun,
of this diet--it's only day one!
Feedback welcome (note pun!)

Food for the soul, no grimace,
Or is it more food for the stomach?
In observational methodology,
No crumbs ever left here, you see,
It's malnutrition villa, I dream,
We're the failures of  the Weight Loss industry!

Football exists!
It's all hit and miss,
The goals they missed,
Lost in the mists,
Supporters get miffed,
Yes, football exists,
Woe! No more need be said,
I've banished football from my head!

***--spell it as you like, any way,
His team played again today,
How do they lose so consistently,
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory,
Now there's melancholia and doom,
He sulks alone in his empty room,
Ritual disembowelment of male gloom,
"Off to drown yourself, dear,"
"Never mind, one week at a time, cheers!"
"Yes, another rebuilding year!"
I can talk football too, my dears!

Mattel gave us Barbie and Ken,
They never grew old, according to them,
But, can you handle reality?
Barbie and Ken are now over fifty!
Barbie is fat with varicose veins,
With hairy legs, not so vain,
And Ken shall never see his toes again,
His six pack has turned into a beer belly,
Walking makes Ken quiver like jelly,
But, hey, they're forever Mattel,
Barbie's too old to say, "Ken, go to hell!"
Sad, but true, our childhood friends,
Yet they did grow old, Barbie and Ken........

How do you forgive and forget?
What's been done to a woman yet,
Close chapters in your book of life,
Each day, start the rest of your life,
Maybe think no hard feelings, yes,
Each day, good intentions, no less,
How do you forgive and forget?
Go on, blame the woman, that's the best!
"Hah!"

Globally now, mankind's forgotten dream.

We never grow up in the usual way,
We fool around every day,
"Magic's still the same!" he tells me,
I do love him so devotedly,
Long hours spent entwining.
Our ageless love divining,
I write this verse so thoughtful,
I trust he stays forever faithful,
For people who never grow up,
On love, you never give up!

Fractured Fairytales, Part Two,
A sordid little tale for you.......
Stranger Danger!
Stranger Danger!
Lil' Red Riding Hood,
Alone in the woods,
Stranger Danger!
Stranger Danger!
Who is this stranger?
It's the Park Ranger!
Is he up to no good?
Prowling around in the woods?
Stranger Danger!
Stranger Danger!
Lil' Red Riding Hood,
Alone in the woods,
He's thrown away her phone,
Now Lil' Hood is not alone,
Now he's up to good,
Bad news for Lil' Red  Riding Hood,
Stranger Danger!
Stranger Danger!
Bad Park Ranger!
Stranger Danger!
He's turned her into a ****,
Now he's got her up the duff,
Stranger Danger!
Bad Park Ranger!
Now she's a single mother,
Should have had a better mother,
Letting her walk alone in the woods,
Bad handsome Park Ranger,
Stranger Danger!
Stranger Danger!
A sordid little verse for you,
That was Fractured Fairytales, Part Two.
Feedback welcome, Fractured Fairytales Part One, was the tale of Cinderella and her handsome fella!

One fragment of my life,

Did I marry for housework?

Let's pray for freedom for soldiers,
Men and women, wheels to their shoulders,
May you all safely return home,
Grimly defending, do you feel alone?
No, we all hope there is peace one day,
Freedom for the military, that's the way,
C'est la guerre, that's what we'll say,
Is it impossible? 'hope not', we pray,
There'll be freedom for all one day........

It's good to have a sense of humour,

Bit of a giggle, that, more than enough said!!!!!!

I reminisce on love not funny,
So much for giving people honey!
I just never met Mr. Right, I guess,
I met Mr. *******, no less,
No need to sook it, I confess,
Some men have a funny idea of love,
They think they're gifts from God above,
Hello there, rotten mongrels, honey!
I reminisce on love not funny!

I know this may never happen,
If I met a bloke, who'd be clapping?
How do you do the squishy bits?
I would end up giggling over it!
Gravity has won, let's say,
How do you get it on, at our age?
Do you keep our tops on, let's say?
How embarrassing! What gets in the way?
That would be really funny love,
I can't imagine such love doves!

Extremism
Communism
Socialism
Fascism
Bigotry
Slavery
Misogyny
All futility...
Humans need to want to change their attitudes,
Tolerance taught to chicks and dudes,
Set daily peace intention,
No dumb arguments for attention,
Here's a job for your 'my sons',
On every building,  a roof top garden,
Their future is not too far on,
Instead of guns, grow oxygen.
Yes, a 'silent spring' indeed,
When humans destroy all plants and trees,
Why not use compacted plastic for building beams?
Think of your own creative solutions,
Nukes and munitions are mind pollutions!
How futile would be genocide museums?
With no one on Earth left to see 'em!

(Sing along to the tune 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer).

This is a futuristic Christmas,
Sing along in an ode,
Global warming's reached the North Pole,
That's the end of ice and snow.

The Arctic's now a surf beach,
All your gifts out of reach,
There's some really naughty bad elves,
They're keeping all the gifts for themselves!

Where did good ole Santa go?
He's been on the **!
Santa came in bad girls' lane,
And he never was seen again!

Now Santa's got survivor baggage,
Mrs. Santa tossed away his clothes,
She divorced dear old Santa,
For hoing all the hoes!

Now there's a big beach party,
No Christmases ever again!
The bad girls are giving it to Santa,
No Christmases ever again!

This is a futuristic Christmas,
Global warming's reached the North Pole,
Sing along with Santa,
A futuristic Christmas in an ode!!!

(Let's Party...** ** **, Samta knows where all the bad girls go!!)
Written for a contest, bit of fun.
Impossible dream,
I would say one word to you,
You'd laugh, gal too shy!

Yes, in Oz they've called an election,
PR on media heading in our direction,
Bland and blander for our selection,
Do they sell their souls for superannuation?
Politicians are deemed to be public servants,
By the plebs, for the plebs, now observant,
For the benefit of the plebs, in Australia,'
Is being forced to vote a failure?
No such thing as a Western Liberal Democracy,
Prepare for BS for you and me,
Largely unfundable policies,
Today is day one of Garbology!
Feedback welcome! Do I sound cynical or what?

What is a doctor to you,
Is he your guru?
Or does he write a script,
Off to the pharmacist,
Symptoms he treats,
Do healers you meet?
Or does he turf and bounce,
Off for pathologist's amounts,
Then back to the doctor to you,
Is this your local guru?
Then does he turf and bounce,
off to a radiologist's amount,
Then it's all clear,
Good photos of your limbs here,
Time for poisoned jellybeans,
Modern medicine, it seems,
All with a copayment fee,
Is he your guru?
What is a doctor to you?

What is a genuine love?

Like blessings from above,

I guess this is a funny tale,
I still reflect, silent wail,
There I was, giving birth,
Snicker for what it's worth,
"Excuse me, sister, I'm having a contraction!"
Did that cause a nurse reaction!
They must have thought I was a dipstick,
Laughing away in their lipsticks!

As we give free love away,
We'll get love back one day,
Like's God breath of feathers,
Our solace in stormy weather,
God's looks after each of us,
Serenely unconditional, no fuss,
God gives us all free love,
Not far away, shining above,
We dream, for what it's worth,
Perfect communion of souls on Earth,
Yes, boundless free love we all deserve,
As we give free love away,
We'll get free love back one day!

Someone bullied me,
So I sent him a gift, you see,
Hoping he was on Facebook and Twitter,
I mailed him an envelope of glitter,
Worked like a charm,
Did his technology harm,
That was too bad,
Did so not feel bad,
So, next time you're on Facebook or Twitter,
Be careful, card might be full of glitter.....

Are we good global citizens?
Didn't we sell the world Uranium?
The future is an open book--
Here's a concept worth a look,
Each of us in a calm place,
One peaceful, equitable human race,
One vast people, maybe café au lait,
One global language, perhaps,
One informal faith, for chicks and chaps,
Billions of human ants, billions,
Pigeons ready for Peace Religion,
A future for the young,
Or has capitalism really won?
Who comes second in any war?
Haven't we heard it all before?
Are we good global citizens?
Who did sell the world Uranium?
Well.............
A chance thought about Peace on Earth.
Project global vision of peace, some day!

Words burnt in my brain,
Times not to come again,
Of long lost childhood,
Things motherly--good?
"Go and play!"
That's all she'd say,
In a big back yard,
Veggie patch too hard,
Mud pies we played,
Fun times stayed,
Boy, was there trouble!
Fled on the double,
"Go and play!"
That's all she'd say,
Long lost childhood,
Things maternal--good?
Bit of nostalgia, the old childhood days.

This is the fairy godmother's dream,
In this world nothing is what it seems,
A tribute to Martin Luther King,
I do  dream of a circling ring,
Of global helping, healing hands,
I dream of Peace in every land,
I dream that guns be obsolescent,
That equitable freedom be made prevalent,
I dream that hunger be obsolescent,
I dream that safe water be ever present,
I dream that children grow and play in unity,
I dream that none be taught bigotry,
I dream of women free of discrimination,
I dream of no slavery in any nation,
I dream of one global human race,
I dream of an infectious smile on every face,
I dream  of the perfect communion of the soul,
I dream that  Heaven on Earth  be our whole,
Maybe  I dream impossible dreams,
In a world where nothing is what it seems.

A sister in God's brotherhood,
God loves us til the end of Earth,
A slow news day, we all deserve,
Humanity needs new policies, rad,
Save us all from anarchy-that's bad,

I prayed to God in the silent house,
In the quiet stillness, in came a mouse,
Yes, in scuttled Horatio the Mouse,
Sardonic God has sent me a mouse,
So, a little fur friend,
God's blessings don't end,
This mouse is way too hyperactive,
I ask, does it come from a mouse collective?
Is Horatio pregnant? think twice.
Shall I be plagued by furry mice?
I bought poison and mousetraps, too bad,
Is the mouse collective about to be sad?
Thus spake God, in the silent dark house,
"I shall send you a fur friend mouse?"
The real world,  in came the mouse. Feedback welcome.
Julie Grenness Mar 2016
This is Horatio's elegy,
He and the mousetrap had synergy,
That's the end of mouse energy,
Alas, Horatio is no more,
That fur friend predator,
He ran into the  mousetrap's door,
Alas, Horatio is no more!
How to embellish this ode?
I'm in hunter-gatherer mode,
Shall I serve him up for lunch?
Nuke him for tasty munch?
Eat it skin on for nutrients,
Now I know what Nigella meant,
No, Horatio wasn't pregnant,
Now I have a fur friend remnant,
That little mouse predator,
Of mice I am no amator,
Alas, Horatio is no more!!
The sequel to God's gift of  a fur friend, mouse.  Feedback welcome.

Have you ever seen a sad retriever?
Of their true love, we are the receivers,
How many need to change a light bulb? None!

Tongues lolling, tails wagging,
Always smiling, never flagging,
Yes, we love our happy fur friend dudes,
With their positive mental attitudes!

A tribute in our golden years,
As  I recollect, no poignant tears,
I glimpsed him in my peripheral vision,
By now, we're both older editions,
A friend of a friend of  a friend,
Floating away like golden pollen,
I trust my thoughts to him do wend,
That was  once a quote, I sigh,
" I did but see him passing by,"
Crying and weeping is not for me,
Glancing at such distant memories,
Yes, a friend of a friend of a friend,
Floated away like stardust pollen,
I reminisce, such a dear,
A tribute in our golden years.
A whimsy, feedback welcome.
