There are aeroplanes and aquaplanes
neither one could plane a four by two
like my Father used to do.

The dinner ladies came on the bell
us as kids would run like hell to get
a chair and stuff our hungry faces
sitting there and although a room
there was no class,
we were all the same
waiting for the time to pass
until dinner time came around again.

In fact
everything we ever saw
was waiting for
something.

The olden days were not the golden days
we often think they were.
Writing between the fault lines
and how many times have we
been bitten
written on
washed off the sidewalks?

if the cracks in the sky are where the light gets in
then
we die in the cracks between paving stones.

no one calls you
you watch as you fall and you
feel lighter
the cracks start to close and your chest
becomes tighter
and you wake up in Bognor.
So
that wasn't a duck quacking
it was a little dog yapping
for hours
and
hours

fukin little
I'll give it little,
the
little ****.

The obstacle race
Some long for the morning
some wait for the night
some walk to the bus stop
some people take flight,
and for some
it's just a waiting game
watching what goes on
and giving free rein to
the thoughts that unfold.

I thought once,
but it's
a risky business thinking,
when
the eyes become fixed
people think that you're mad.

The struggle between
free rein and free reign

That annoying twitch
We make things up to suit our own circumstances.
Slightly weird but no more strange than believing all that we're told.

Fortunately for me I mostly believe in what I can see except of course when I'm dreaming and then I take things with a pinch of low sodium salt.

There is definitely a fault line that runs through the timeline, you can't tell me that this disaster we are in was planned by the hand of the almighty, unless we're in a movie and I'm dreaming again.

Anyway I see signs, portents,
monuments to my ancestors all around me,
ghosts of old ghosts that surround me,
bound by those chains which were forged by the pains they endured
but I am assured that they will bring no harm to me,

no harmony either.

The 54 year gap
We've all been down that road and through the mill,
turned upside down when your smile became a frown and hoping that the wind wouldn't change.
because
Mother said
that your face would be stuck like that forever if the wind did change,
which is strange but not necessarily untrue.

Many years from now
when I get old and
they put me out to grass
I will not pass a remark
I'll go quietly
but I'll also go annoyingly slowly
as one befitting his age.

As for the scars
you only see the ones on the outside
and that's only if you bother to look
and we're all scarred anyway from day one
so
I'm no different but different,

like you
I'll also come to the end
but while I can
I'll still pretend
it's just another nightmare.

If you listen closely
you can hear the spiders marching on their webs that glisten in the early morning light.

The bees are already at the plate drinking in the nectar from the waking blooms.

Can't see any lizards yet but they're probably still lounging about somewhere out of sight.

Plenty of wood around and not a sound from the woodpeckers!

There is bounty here and not the coconut covered in chocolate one nor the wanted dead or alive one, this bounty is what nature gives to those that live with and respect nature

and nature's bounty is like finding five pound notes growing on trees which pleases everyone's eye.

When the morning sun lights up the vineyard it'd be very hard to find a richer place,
even the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street pulls a face when faced with that truth.

Now

Can't see what they're singing
but I hear them
birds bringing in the daylight
and here am I
winging it
as if daylight's my birthright.

So what if I'm not as bright as a button
or as sharp as I could be
nothing can touch me.

She

I leave her to dream

I may be dreaming too
this whole episode being watched on pay per view in some distant galaxy
but it doesn't worry me

we're all stars that shine.

And if I am dreaming
