I am a Ghanaian girl born on Basotho land. I ask you why my relatives know how to speak Twi and I don't, it was then when I was aware of the decision you had made to keep me away. My family has been filled with Ghanaians who can speak their native tongue but you made me the only different. When it's all set and done I do not know my native tongue. The truth is my I'm filled with Basotho air rather than the identity of Ghanaian princess. I was born to you as a citizen. I am trying to join them but I am stuck. Also, I wonder, who am I?I haven't come to a conclusion. I am forever shopping for a new identity. So I am an actor, I did Drama in high school and usually I have my props on stage but in this poem all my props are gone. I'm just revealed with nothing to hide asking myself who am I?I could say I am diverse but then again I think not. It's sad how I can't even pronounce my own name.

you want to witness the truth?
then
you shouldn't see it

I knew it
By the way the shortness of breath evaporated all the words from your lips
And with mearly a slip of the tongue that had just grazed my neck
Gone

I'm poring over your words...
Sophistication beyond compare
I can only savour in gulps
Such fantastic fare

•••••

Your stars are sculpted out of porcelain
Whilst mine, white washed vinyl
Your haloed moon, commands immediate attention
Mine only hovers...
As elliptical paint over stencil

Oceans of yours brim full
Catching the shards from the noon day sun
When mine suffer from receding tides
Turning into stagnant estuaries
where water hardly runs

Myriad views from snow swept mountains
You paint perfect with delicate pairings
Stuck with a view from a porthole
Sometimes all I see,
are the vast expanses of tumultuous endings

•••••

Still poring over all of your words
They all weigh much
but soar like feathers on birds
Artform fit for gods beyond compare
Drowning in the magic...
Of your incredible fare
For all you writers; new and old! Thank you for your words!

Turn the other
into an object
that's where
genocide begins.

Manipulations
of the economy machines,
Sweeping labels
capture all,
That's where incarceration
to
slaughter begins.

Rapists
cockroaches
infidels
the unclean.

I put this log
into my woodstove
the pill bugs
scurrying for cover,
I feel a heart felt flicker,
Light the match,
Go upon my day,
Never looking back.

What does it take to treat
people
that way?

Where conscious
loving
living
human beings
transformed
by a look
into
pill bugs scurrying
for cover
with a fire storm,
No one
Every one
knows
is
coming.
Beginning with Expanding Consciousness, this poem is Volume 2 on a world of politics and genocide, one more to go and I'll be returning to other themes. I know, as Samuel Goldwyn said several years ago, if I want to make a movie with a message, I'll send a telegram.
But sometimes you still gotta write a protest song.
