E
Eddie, you try to make up for the woes that you never can shake.
Could I ever try to fill up the holes that were left in their wake?

I'll be your light.
I'll be your escape when you need leaving.
I'll be the night.
I'll be the path that's not deceiving.

I don't know much of life, but I know what I see in the truth in your eyes.
Could I have it all? Could I selfishly take you and make you just mine?

What do you dream of when you dream?
What movies flicker on your screens?
What worlds grow green inside your mind?
What are the notes that sing your sleep?
I think you would dream of ancient forests and of tallest mountain reaches,
quietly speaking secrets in the winds tongue.
I think you would dream of monsters and I think they would look like people,
but in your sleep you could recognize their true form.
I think you would dream of houses and I think they would be collapsing,
but the trees around them grow to become walls.
I think you would dream of their branches bleeding, like a heart that's ever beating,
to pump the life back in those walls to make a home.
Do you dream in color? Or are they shades of grey and shadows?
Do you feel them? Do they linger when you wake?
I think your dreams would span the spectrum,
from whitest lights to blackest rooms,
and you wake up warm from being bathed in brilliant hues.
And if you never knew my name, do you think you would dream the same?
I just can't remember dreaming before you.

I saw you smile,
and it towered over the trees,
and it pressed down on me in my sleep
while I dream of various things
like you and me, birds and the sea,
and how much it hurts to be awake.
but I saw you smile
and then it was night,
and half the world was fake light.
I couldn't remember what it was like to see
without fingers on my eyes,
without fingers on my mouth,
and my own hands on my knees.
then I saw you smile
but the noise of the brass
and the river of glass
kept me inside
so I sang you a song
and I cried when I lost the last note,
and all i remember now is the crying.
and when i see you smile
i think that one day i will wake up alone
and how i could save myself from this pain
if i really wanted to
but then i see you smile.

Delial, I see you in my dreams.
I see you next to me, then I'm awake.
You are a child, and your reaching up to me,
and the light, it hits your eyes, and I'm awake.
But where am I?
I do not recognize.
The mountains and the skies all meet the sea.
I wandered here, but I just want to sleep,
escape to the place where your alive.
Then I can smile,
and not be achingly barren,
I can be more than hollow inside.
