Stay Afloat
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The maelstrom of the swirling drain
the ocean of life is filled with pain
keep your soul and heart afloat
stay safe and warm in loves boat

If you fall into the water of despair
surround yourself with those who care
they will throw you a life ring
and haul you in while you cling
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The star's burn until they nova,
after hot brilliance for billions of years.
Minutes matter little in the cosmos,
particularly in the beginning.

The expanding egg-shaped universe
is actually an illusion, a hologram,
in two dimensions, projected.
Is it simply a construct of an alien brain?

Black holes destroy everything,
or do they?
Does life in some other iteration,
get extruded into another dimension?

Huge amounts of emptiness,
occupied by dark matter,
fill the void between.
Gravity occasionally destroys due to encroachment.

The clock ticks down from the big bang,
is there an end? Will it all reverse?
Will there be a giant collapse?
Only time and space will tell
The Fire Burns Nov 2016
Ok so you prayed
now what
you just going to sit
on the couch and pray some more

you have bills
but you have no job
you have kids
but they are wards of the state

you have wants
drugs, ***** and tattoos
but no way to pay
so you sit and pray

The prayer part is fine
but now its your turn
get up, and clean your house
wash your clothes

Put on something decent
and go out and look for a job
secure a job, and do your best
and climb the ladder if you can

Petition to get your kids back
show you've tried to turn it around
catch up your bills
and save some money

Lay off the drugs
but have a drink in moderation
as for the tattoos fine get some
but someplace you can hide them if needed

Take care of your kids
set them an example
of respect and hard work
and how to live.
Frustrated by people that do nothing to help themselves , just say they are going to pray about it and expect god to dump fortune in their lap

Immerse Yourself
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Hear the horns in September
flights of fantasy to remember
the kalimba rings in the tune
as Jupiter crosses behind the moon

Trumpets blast a ready call
all get ready for the ball
a night of flavors to be had
songs written to destroy sad

Feel the beat from different places
pleasant vibrations in your spaces
sends you where you need to be
this kind of music sets you free

Curvy beats, that do inspire
experience Serpentine fire
shining star, take me away
these songs have much to say

Golden sphinxes in my mind
mental trip not hard to find
falsetto tones up in the sky
some so beautiful, make you cry
Inspired by the band Earth, Wind and Fire
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
I don't believe
clothes make the man
but I can usually tell,
from the shake of his hand

Eyes meet and a firm grip
a single shake or two
is the hand shake I expect
if you want me to respect you

A limp and cold dead fish
is the handshake of a fake
and introducing myself
is instantly a mistake.

Stimulations in the Dark
The Fire Burns Aug 2017
Eyelashes brushing naked skin,
raising thoughts of original sin,
prickled flesh and pleasant moans,
ruby lips with dulcet tones.

Breathing changing to a rapid pace,
fingers dance the edges of lace,
strings and clasps slowly untied,
only yes's will be cried.

Affirmations as I draw a line,
with my finger dipped in wine,
following it with a dripping tongue,
a mighty gasp, as if stung.

Shocked just like an electric spark,
neurons firing in the dark,
sending stimulations of pleasure
feelings to be always treasured.

The Dragon Riders Truth
The Fire Burns Sep 2016
Floating aloft above the clouds
flown by scales and ***** of skin
wrapped in my warming shroud
kept aloft by something so thin

swooping now, toward the ground
sounds like we are rushing to our death
the castle is up ahead
I give the command for fiery breath

leveling out without a sound
guards on parapets, have no clue
orange flames come flying out
setting fires that burn bright blue

Another pass and its engulfed
stones begin to melt from heat just like the sun
like a pyroclastic flow of death
they all are on the run

I could easily get them all
but that is not the plan
they are being herded
toward an open span

a long green plain is many miles
still far beyond the sight of eye
and many villages and  castles
to terrorize at night, from the darkened sky

For now I dig in my heels
into armored scale plates
and give the order to go home
watch them head toward their fate

Orion's belt shows the path
to our masters roost
high up in the mountains
he searches for the truth
This may end up being a series

peeled off in a dance

Bra undone and removed
from the arm of my shirt
wet white linen
hides nothing from his eyes

Unbuttoned it slowly
revealing his prize
farmers tanned *******
perked by cooling rain

Muscled buttocks

step up in the chair

Geometric Dreams
The Fire Burns May 2018
Hurtling through space and time,
but these thoughts not worth a dime,
just geometric shapes in a black and white,
but this jumble is quite a sight.

Running running, can't stop running,
something behind me just keeps coming,
so I run the parkour course with it's twists and turns,
looking for the resting spot as my muscles burn.

Jumping and climbing all the time,
from each shape and each line,
circumferences of the circle made,
leaping to the free floating Ray.

Now up the ramp of a triangle,
vaulting to the rectangle,
sprinting toward a massive gap,
now flipping and flying some arm swing *****.

Landing on the squares edge with a tumbled roll,
on the move once again, surprised that I'm still whole,
but the danger still lurks behind,. so onward I roam,
suddenly a dark barks and I wake in my bed at home.

Unwanted Attention
The Fire Burns Sep 2016
Screams, blood curdling draw instant attention!
Attention is the last thing you want!
Want is what drives you to do the things.
Things, a description of most anything.
Anything in this case its a large sharp knife.
Knife, razor edged  the tool that you use.
Use to instill, fear, control and intimidate!
Intimidate and scare the target!
Target is a young blonde woman.
'Woman helplessly alone'
Alone in a parking lot, maybe alley?
Alley yes! Quite dark and lonely'
Lonely, is a cold and daunting feeling
Feeling that you have and try to empty
Empty into the ether of space and time
Time, continually ticking, is of the essence.
Essence, the lifeblood you need.
Need to gather with the knife!
Knife the woman in the alley!
Alley from which come the screams!!
I scared myself on this one

Temperature climbing
desert wind blowing
runnels of sweat begin
as I start to melt, in the heat.

Waves slither on the horizon
a mirage of water
zero humidity
and not a cloud above

Swirling sand catches my eye
dust devil rising 200 feet
tumbleweeds shot upward
the whiptail lizards sprints away

108 degrees and a breeze full of dirt
like being sand blasted
except I have no rust
just skin, to live in

It begins to roast and turn red
I long for shade and a drink
but no trees, or shrubs offer any
and no hose, or lake around

Thirsty and burnt
skin just about flayed
I finally make it
to the cooler and shade

The swirling sounds of white noise
rush into my senses, confusing,
neurons firing, I do not understand,
what they mean.

Inter-dimensional constructs
flutter past my eyes,
leaving streaking trails,
meteorites of imagination.

Cosmic expulsions,
solar flares,
set my magnetosphere
to glowing, moving colored lights.

Reaching out into the mist
spinning clocks and infatuation,
non-Newtonian fluid,
not quickly captured.

Experiences of the lifetime

and pepper the interactions

A Crystal Shard
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
A crystal shard
from a distant star
slices through the grey
reflecting who we are

Sent here from deep in space
to seed and grow the human race
our descent from the formation of birth,
a blossom whose petals have no worth.

Floating in the ether, embryonic
elixir of life, waxing catatonic
from the beginnings primordial ooze
lightning strikes, and things begin to move

Evolution occurs in time
slow and steady, begin and refine
eons pass and life combines and tries
succeed and fail, cannot hear their cries

Feathers and fingers, eyes and ears
all transform as danger nears
tails and feet, claws and fangs
specialize in time for low fruit it hangs

Lost in Transmission
The Fire Burns Feb 2018
Humming giant neon signs,
flash words never spoken,
there is no rhyme but a reason,
the people's dreams are shattered.

Keep your head bowed down,
to the digital God in your hand,
you can look upon nothing,
just see the printed words.

Text your responses deep into the cloud,
the tapping keys are the only sounds
no words are heard, eye contact never made,
but games are played, in this electronic age.

Interaction has been reduced,
to photons and electrons,
projected eye to eye,
yet the truth is hidden.

The music still plays,
but it is never shared,
transmitted in to your ear,
and you dance, alone.

Books are scattered about on the floor,
Frank Herbert's Dune, and some Louis L'amour,
I'm not feeling quick, in fact quite dead,
tequila ache pounds my head.

Came in last night just scattered my clothes,
doors not locked, hell it's not even closed,
weather outside feels cool and clean,
way after noon its five fifteen.

Slept all day but I dreamt of her,
my mouth is dry, tongue covered in fur,
stumble to my feet, no I won't get far,
couple of steps, liquor on my bar.

Guess I'll get up, do it all again,
maybe tonight with Bombay gin,
a little cranberry, sweet and ****,
but it won't be enough to heal my heart.

all is quiet

for survivors in fear

There is a monster in my head
that is always famished
I feed it books and TV shows
but it is never satisfied
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Our rhymes
Are on time
And our wit
Is hard to get

But your gas to my fire
Is enough to spark wires
And inspire heat

But not the kind
That burns down shanties
But the kind that excites
And slides down *******

The dry and calloused hands
of wit sharpened
and refined

The keeping of the fire
as her arousal, assured
playing with her mind

It's not a simple variance
each puzzle, a different kind of view
getting her excited, and her bra removed

No ******* and no bra
I look in wonder, stare in awe
At the statuesque beauty in front of me
My eyes capture and store what it sees

A tentative touch of skin to skin
I may not know the trouble I'm in
As thoughts turn to original sin
At this point the line is mighty thin

So I cross it with a kiss
Roam her body, no spot I miss
Friction sparks ignite the flame
Man I love to play this game

Flick of my Bic
Or of my tongue
Either way
She will squirm
From my licks
Or my words
Both can cause
Passions to burn

Tongue tip
Long **** sip
Juices flow
See the glow
Here to dine
For a time

Sliding into memories,
her scent, her feel, her remedies
Breaking bad, breaking me,
repair, a simple thought you see
Her silken hands and gentle touch, setting me forever, free

Her needs are mine, her smallest thoughts, decree
My body hers, my confusion swept, as if debris

I hold to what I know is true, there is no me, without, you....

My Mind Card
The Fire Burns Sep 2017
Am I like a credit card,
my mind the magnetic strip,
or are my memories more,
like a pin and chip.

To access me you need the code,
and it's a secret after all,
if you guess poorly,
its me you will have to call.

Don't try to read my mind,
it's locked up tighter than a vault,
if you get stuck trying,
it's really not my fault.

So imagine if your stuck
just trying to get inside,
if I let you in the madness,
you may well lose your mind.

So stick to what I post,
that's free for all to see,
I keep that other stuff locked up,
to protect your thoughts from me.
The Fire Burns Apr 2018
From somwhere outside my bubble,
the mindless quacking of a mallard
has infiltrated my thoughts and ideas,
confusing and annoying.

The sun, blinding at it's zenith,
now fades into a vermilion pool,
mercurial silver water transformed,
photovoltaic cells failing in loss of light.

I too begin to fade, diminishing energy,
consumption of power during the day,
draining batteries, my thought light dimming,
the sun, passes the horizon, and darkness envelopes.

Unscrewing my light bulb and setting aside,
preparing for a rest. and shedding thoughts,
much like the fall trees losing leaves one at a time,
I close my eyes and dream, of a duck and a lake

Twisted X's made of wire,
strung between t- posts,
fencing off separate properties,
yet tying it together for miles.

Cattle and horses contained,
whitetail deer simply go through
or jump over with impressive leaps,
Rio Grande turkeys walk the line.

Game trails used by various critters,
criss cross underneath it,
forming tunnels in the tall grass,
a yellow breasted meadowlark perches.

Grown into trees through the years,
a historical record contained and preserved within.
single stand or multi-wire tales,
a 3000 pound Beefmaster bull just walks through.

Cowboys ride miles mending,
on foot, or horseback or trucks and ATV's.

You Just Have To Listen
The Fire Burns Apr 2018
Gleaming silver sidewalks,
as the sun goes on down,
I walk alone feeling blue,
through the streets of town.

A beat forming in my mind,
as traffic chugs right along,
chiming railroad crossing,
adding to the cities song.

Mood improving as I stroll,
the bridges seams lay down a beat,
my head bobbing up and down,
this music is such a treat.

A little swagger in my step,
I do a spin through puddles, splash,
cement truck grinding round,
manhole cover like cymbal's crash.

The music's there all the time,
you just have to choose to see,
and when you do, you will find,
it will set your spirit free.

Trespassing
The Fire Burns Aug 2017
Gravel roads and a pickup truck,
windows down and the radio up.
Cooler full, back in the bed,
sandwich stuff and a loaf of bread.

Special spot behind some gates,
every time we come, tempting fate,
but the fishing here is beyond good,
three owners ago said we could.

Lifelong friends,
casting jigs and worms,
drinking beer,
as evening comes,
staying out of trouble,
as days keep amassing,
just doing, a little trespassing.

A few years later, a special girl,
the one I want, to rule my world.
looking for the perfect spot,
I have got a question to pop.

Icy blue eyes, enough to freeze,
her red hair blowing in the breeze,
cast out her pole, and tell her to wait,
reel it on in, something got your bait.

What's this hung, on your line?
A diamond ring, **** its fine.
Down on one knee, in the country,
waiting for an answer, will she, won't she.

Lifelong love
casting jigs and worms,
making love,
as evening comes,
staying out of trouble,
no days surpassing
Just doing, a little trespassing.

Years of work and some kids,
money in my pocket, a gift to give.
down the road a for sale sign,
I think it's time to make it mine.

So many memories made here
cast and reel, and drinking beer,
special times and making love,
I sure have been, blessed by god above.

Take the family out, with fishing rods,
headed over, to our favorite spot,
it's been raining, hope we don't get stuck
down back roads, in a pickup truck.

Family is out,
casting jigs and worms,
catching some dinner,
as evening comes.

no need for more, trespassing

A name on the tip of my lips
yet it doesn't come to me
just a vision of red hair
clouded in sangria memories

The smell of pancakes
overwhelms the room
maple syrup sweetness
as she enters with a tray

Ginger haired goddess
wearing nothing but an apron
a sunrise smile, of pearly whites
an angel in the morning sun's glow

Velvet lips press to mine
images of the previous night
flood my memory banks
and a smile spreads on my face

Have I died and gone to heaven?
her giggle is beyond contagious
she tells me to eat
I watch a vision and apron strings swing

She returns, her plate in hand
and the glorious smell of coffee
we eat and drink in silence
with excited glances at each other

Finished, she turns pink in the cheeks
stands up, holds out her hand
and says, welcome to my house
what is your name, and please stay!

With wholehearted laughs,
she dives on top of me
and whispers her name in my ear
as I whisper mine back to her

Somewhere in the Country
The Fire Burns Sep 2016
Corduroy bumps
down the red dirt road
surrounded by pine needles
shrouded in green canopy

The smell of dust and turpentine
a white tail deer runs away
as the cottontail rabbits sits and watches
and the crows, caw  and caw

Beans creek runs
straddled by an old wood bridge
the board rattle fearfully
as we drive across

A gas line right of way cut into the woods
in the distance opens to pasture
the other way up a hill
till you can see no more

River cane grows tall
where the spring runs
out of and down the hill
glistening the side of the road

Red dirt transforms to black top
as driveways start
and house pop up
on either side of the road

Then paved hard road
starts at a stop sign
I turn around
as the city is not for me

Here it comes once again
inspiration overcome
I pick the tokens from the ground
and flip them off my thumb

Flying in the air I see
a spinning ring of gold
while I can catch it again
it is not mine to hold

So with a heavy heart
I drop it to the ground
listening intently
to the clinking sound

As I walk away
notice the rust on my finger
gold doesn't rust
but the thought doesn't linger

Thoughts and Words Wielded
The Fire Burns Dec 2016
Oozing tears
from dry ducts
brought on by
words and fear

Indeed they are always here
but you must control, them far and near
keep them at mental arms reach
they are yours so learn to teach

Whip in hand and a chair
tame them like lions, if you dare
or submit to them to be devoured
if you let them overpower

Deeds are much more telling
words are but ideas out of mouths
or poured onto paper and screens
actions based on those words
truly tell the tale

we all feel
sometimes we heal
but not always

The Fire Burns Sep 2016
skies of green
in the distance blue
lightning golden
clouds of cream

rushing by in the wind
as it howls down the desert
dust kicked up
like a herd of bison

peck peck peck
grit hits the windows
and then splash
as the warm rain starts

mud flows in brown runnels
next to the gray chip driveway
a stray leaf, rides the flow
through mini class five rapids

Columbia river, shirt and pants
walking the flats in a sting ray dance
shuffle, shuffle, slide and step
is it silly, a little, yep

Casting a torpedo, searching trout or reds
out hungry, patrolling the edge of grass beds
long cast out to a floating log
reel and pop it, as it walks the dog

Nothings biting here but, its ok
I'm not at work, and I have all day
just being in the bay is lots of fun
soaking up the salt spray and the sun

The Dragon Riders Herd
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Here I am once again, following demand
upon the back and chasing wind
this time joined by my band
we fly formation toward their end

Silent wings rip the air
golden eyes glow in the dark
in an unblinking stare
and inside an internal spark

The refugees at the beginning of the plain
have built thatched huts, escape the wind
to move them on, we add some pain
eventually to our will they will bend

Dragons breath sets huts alight
as the villagers run in fear
they stumble into the night
as we continue to steer

Our phalanx regroups in the sky
blotting out the stars
another pass we prepare to fly
streaks fire of than can be seen from afar

Dragons and riders fan formation
dressed in armored battle gear
Village guards, abandon stations
and all run and scream in fear

Herd and herd we continue
to move them on for miles
until at last, from tired sinew
we abandon burning piles

Headed for the roost we fly
and into our castle keep
Imagining villages cry
as we climb so steep

Strangled thoughts ricochet around,
screaming silence muted sound,
lost inside the synaptic pulses,
like a myriad of combined song versus.

My feet move unbidden,
to only sounds that are hidden,
deep inside my skull and brain,
falling on me like gentle rain.
