I'm knitting
a gold cardigan
bringing warmth
to winter sunshine

In the old garden
long hidden through misuse
amateur gardeners are restoring its past
with the help of professionals
who know about such things as

where blue poppies do best
and which are good grapes for wine

It took quite some courage
to hack at the creepers
and break up the concrete
but look at it now

glow enticingly
in the hedgerow

We all had dreams
and plans
to travel to far away lands
but then came Covid 19
so who now knows
what that might mean ?
Our plans
may become our dreams

and ponder the meaning
of that strange word hypotenuse
my skin getting goosebumps
and my breath all excited
