“A poet's qualifications include common sense, knowledge of character, adherence to high ideals, combination of the dulce with the utile, intellectual superiority, appreciation of the noble history and lofty mission of poetry, and above all a willingness to listen to and profit by impartial criticism.”

Ars Poeti a (ll. 295–476).[10]
a slanted morning sun
   warming my back
makes my huge shadow
walk so far ahead of me

trying to catch up with it
I feel small
fall sun shadow small
In the dead and blowing leaves
The rain and wind aplenty
Autumn brings the long coat sleeves
And leaves the branches empty

The days are shorter. Dull and grey
The clouds all gather
Bringing rain
The ties to summer severed
I read your writing
and tried to respond
but the dot kept spinning
all day long…

I made myself a promise
and pledged to hold on
never given up
on the outlet for my songs

So if you don’t hear my cheerful
daily rhyme
I’m sure the gateway will open up
in due time!

Sounds of terror, sight of blood.

Flooding my mind a pool of mush, a child can only handle so much.
