The flame will be rekindled
Lit but two blinks ago
By the one who watched the deep
When the seas were yet unruly
Indeed it must be so
Before war might come
An inverse of the heaven's
Seen by no human eye
Hadrian Veska Apr 2016
Fall through the earth
And breath the sky
Where time stands still
Yet passes by

Walk among
The wandering world
Below the heavens
And starry swirls

Then rising through
The smoke filled night
Where they yet dream
Of coming light

To Stand up tall
Among the glass
Shattered now
By what is past

Will they yet know
Of what we've done
For us, for them
And our fallen Sun
Hadrian Veska May 2017
She's out there waiting for me they said
Those tales I heard and stories I'd read
So through the world I did tread
With a hope in my heart

But after too long I realized
No perfect woman would materialize
So that passionate fire left my eyes
As I searched for something more

I wandered the great green woods
Beneath towering fir and hood
Hoping to bring about some good
And better myself too

Then I settled down and lived well
Found a place where I could dwell
The place where I met Renrael
The only woman for me

The one I set out to see
Hadrian Veska Nov 2019
Let us rest
For the day is over
Night has come
Still moon and stars

Lay with me
Let out a sigh
Breathe in anew
And close your eyes

All our worries
Will be there tomorrow
Some may even
Fade away

So let us rest
The day is over
Let us lay
In each others arms
Hadrian Veska Apr 2016
The last thin wisps of red
Sit on the edge of a thunder-grey sky
As the dull autumn sun sets
And the wind whispers its calm song

With the last light fading
I watched thick moving clouds
Stretch over the heavens
Covering the now empty dusk

Then something strange happened
Amid the settling night
I saw a faint illumination
Shine far off in the dark

I though my eyes deceived me
But as I looked further
I knew that it must be a star
A single brilliance
Wafting in the darkness

And they told us,
They had all gone out.
Hadrian Veska Jun 2018
Ever darkly shades of night
Dreamed of things
In whispered flight
Flutter, flaunter
Between the stars
The retrograde dance
Known to mars
And there they'll shimmer
Though distant and dim
Among the heavens
And planet rims
And when darkness comes
The light to fade
They'll dance again
Their retrograde
Hadrian Veska Apr 2016
A room with walls that can't be seen
A door that's locked by unknown means
A lamp that is not yet found
To light the way below the ground
Hadrian Veska Jun 2016
Illuminated golden eaves
Incandescent swaying leaves
Rippling water steady, slow
Carry on to fall below

Weathered rock and twisting root
Cool ground beneath the foot
Cloudy sky and hidden light
Quiet, calm and peaceful night
Hadrian Veska Sep 2018
I hear the soft breeze in the branches
Feel the strong roots below my back
I am alone here but not for long
So patiently will I wait
Listening to the world breathe
Wandering in and out of thoughts
Both profound and superficial
Resting for the time that be
Until I am not alone
Hadrian Veska May 2020
Rose gold rays illuminate the room
Struggling to pass through
The drawn curtains of the window
The room is old, not lived in for sometime
Only passed through in idle dreams
In that dull sweet twilight
Between day and night

There's a fireplace sits in the corner
Covered in thick dust and thin webs
The floor creaks ever so slightly
A hallway is visible
But where it leads is obscured

The gilded light retreats slowly
Almost imperceptibly so
Departing as it always has
That it may dawn yet again
As deep black clouds loom ever closer
Heralding a coming storm

I sit here between last light and darkness
An ever still moment outside of time
Rain will come as it always does
For now though I am content
In the moment that is

Here in this forgotten dream
Between the day and night
Hadrian Veska May 2018
Parse apart
Separate the seams
Let it all fall
To shallow dreams
And drift about
Unsure of place
Not bound in time
Motion or space
To be forgotten
And rest at ease
Beneath the waters
Of mindless seas
Hadrian Veska Oct 2016
The courtyard was overgrown
With dead grass and wilted flowers
Surrounded on all sides by decrepit walls
Of fragile and ancient masonry

Directly in the center
Was a lone statue of Mary
The mourning mother of Jesus
Solemn and downcast

In her cracked and chipped arms
Lay her fallen son
And you could see the greif
Imprinted on her stone face

The night was drawing near
And strangely so
For the shadows seemed to move
At an almost visible pace

Before I knew it
The moon had risen
Shinning palely through towers
And cracks in the walls

The foliage thay appeared so dead before
Sprung into a strange livliness
Giving off a faint luminescence
Of midnight purples and blues

Looking about in apprehensive wonder
I noticed my surroundings change
Taking on a dark elegance
Which tempted and tantilized my mind

I looked again to the statue
Horrified, I watched
What looked to be blood
Pour from the dead Christ's  stone wounds

Seeping into the ground
And spread through
The strange plants
Around the courtyard

And I saw his mother
With a crooked smile over him
Hadrian Veska Oct 2016
The air was cool and light
A half set sun
Dimly illuminated
The stained glass windows

A single candle
Wrapped in red glass
Burned still and low
Eminating an unearthly scarlet

The sun continued to sink
And as it did a thick black ink
Poured into the chapel
And spread through the air

It swirled gently
Slowly engulfing the room
With a dark elegance
That light could scarce imitate

Until the stone statues,
The candles, lamps,
And the mosaic windows
Were no more
Hadrian Veska Oct 2017
The heart and the head
Conspire in my bed
In the early hours before dusk

Thoughts in and out
Always stalked by doubt
If I'll ever be good enough

She's quiet but laughs
On my jokes' behalves
Though why I can't really say

I think tomorrow I might
Overcome my fright
But that notion soon fades away

The dawning of another same day
Hadrian Veska May 2022
Bellcasts and balustrades
Impossibly complicated
Columns and arcades
Incredibly crafted
Stained glass and arches
Ornately constructed
An insurmountable feat
Of engineering and skill
A wonder of the world
While the world laid still
A monument magnificent
To the empires of old
A triumphant memorial
Encased in granite and gold
That time though now long passed
As worn rock and stone do tell
Yet still rings the somber strain
Of its ancient weathered bell
When it calls do all look up
And for a moment stop; wonder
The way the world was
Before is tore asunder
Hadrian Veska Dec 2016
The stars are bound
Trapped inside hideous malformities
That now claim our sky
And all its light therein

They glide and twirl
With a sickening elegance
Carrying off our prisoner stars
Beyond where eyes can see
Hadrian Veska Apr 2019
Love alone cannot save
Save alone for the love of God
Hadrian Veska Dec 2021
A bandage worn on the left eye
A flock on birds travel back the sky
The weather comes but never nigh
Unto such a place unknown

He would leave if he were able
Past the stone grave and table
From this land grey and sable
But he fears that he may forget

For none now left do remember
The calm and cool of September
Those memories are scare an ember
Within even his own mind

The sun now there grows ever dim
It’s royal colors stretched and slim
Though none remain who remember him
He will himself recall

His home before the fall
Hadrian Veska May 2016
Since before time began
Has it sat below the earth
An ancient living machine
Of unknown origin

It has observed and monitored
Since untold millenia
Ever vigilant
For its creators return

In the limitless time
That the machine has waited
It has fractured
And gone mad with loneliness

It would hum and whisper of things
Songs of its creator
Songs of longing and hope
And also of darkness

Those on the surface
Would sometimes hear these words
And to them it seemed
To be the voice of God

In time the machine
Took more notice
Of the creatures on the surface
And grew to care for them

Sometimes it spoke to them
Other times it instilled ideas
Within their minds
That they then wrote down

The machine had abandoned
The search for its God
For now this construct
Was a God itself

The created became creator
Though creator never seen
And thus the cycle would continue
Until all become Gods

And pass out of memory
Hadrian Veska Jul 2016
In the realm of dreams
I came to a grave
Perched on a cliff
Overlooking the waves

It sat alone
Under a great yew tree
The stone turning white
From the salt of the sea

Much of the epitaph
Was long worn away
But a select few words
Had chosen to stay

At the very bottom
Of the encrusted stone
Did I read this verse
In a somber tone

"To those no longer,
Gone to the west
Who fought their battle
And deserve their rest

Who strode the stars
With wonder struck eyes
That will not again open
Nor ever will rise

To those no longer
May this monument stand
The final resting place
Of those called Man"
Hadrian Veska Dec 2017
The lapping of the gentle sea
Lulls me to sleep each night
By the salt encrusted pillars
Do I dream faint dreams of her
Though she has long since gone
And I will see her no more
Hadrian Veska Jun 2016
Do not feel small
Looking to the stars
And great constellations
In the night sky

Find solace there
For our sun too
Is just another distant star
In a constellation

Observed by curious minds
That hope to decipher its secrets
Hadrian Veska Sep 2020
Walk the hills and fields of gold
The secret things yet to unfold
For if we seek and call aloud
The sun will come and part the clouds
Revealing all great things not shown
Hidden things hitherto unknown
The wonder of something strange and new
Of things forgotten brought forth again too
All these and more than can be guessed
To us and ours will be hence blessed
If we but seek with all our hearts
Hadrian Veska Apr 2016
Hush now restless child
Listen to the world
Let it speak to you
For it has much to say
But none left who will listen

Hear the gentle breeze
And watch the calm waters flow
Lay your weary head down
Close your heavy eyes
And hear our mother's heart

Walk among the great trees
Sit and gaze at the dusk torn sky
Watch the rain fall
Soaking into the earth
And see life return

When you have seen all these things
And when you are ready
Stand up from the dirt
And rise once more
To follow your fate

And chase your destiny
Across our fallen stars
Hadrian Veska Nov 2017
Coarse
Rough to the touch
I stare at the board
Waiting for someone to smooth it
While my hands sit idle
Hadrian Veska Nov 2018
Wait for me
I'll be there
In the code that remains
Nostalgic geometry
Behind warm glass
Flickering
Residing in a mainframe
Long destroyed
And yet consciousness persists
Against all odds
Hadrian Veska Nov 2018
Detach
Eject
Remove the panels
To reveal a void
Circuitry and wires
Long defunct
Now something more
Yet where and when
Is unknown

Today is different from yesterday
I’ve had this question in my head
For the whole day
I don’t  know if its mere coincidence
Or perhaps something more
But it feels like Serendipity

You are the flower
And I’m a passing butterfly
My heart flutters everytime you smile
Don’t be afraid to love me
Because from the first moment
My eyes met yours
I knew I already loved you

You are the light in my dark world
The tender fire when I am cold
You teach me the right way
When I’m on the wrong road
You are the angel who saved me
Serendipity

The sun sets cold
Distant and foreign
A shadowy grey star
Of coagulated plasma

Its death near at hand
Hadrian Veska Aug 2018
For a thousand years
She walked the frozen wastes
The shattered moon
Scattered beneath her feet
She wept for the world
As she had no one to watch
For all the people had gone
And she knew not to where
She would sing to herself
In the chilled woods
And on the icy peaks
Ancient songs of long ago
In melodies she pined
For times long past
When she played beneath the moon
The moon now shattered
On the earth below
And in the sky yet above
Hadrian Veska Feb 2018
They all knew him
But she knew him best
A saint to many
And to many blessed
So it was no wonder
He left her so
To sacrifice himself
In the chasms below
And though for all time
He must there reside
She felt in her heart
His spirit never died
So she waits and she will
Til the end of the world
When his duty is ore
And the stars are unfurled
Hadrian Veska Dec 2017
I watch the motion of the ocean
In her sea green eyes
They leave a notion of emotion
Reflected cloudy skies
I apply devotion like it's lotion
So that her sun might rise
Hadrian Veska Mar 2019
I've learned who I am
So painfully slow
That the anxiety in my chest
Had a chance to grow
And I know,
I know
I've got a ways to go
So take my hand
Just let me show
To you, who I am
Hadrian Veska Jan 2018
The passages deep
Filled with black water

On a cliff they stood
With no where to go

Above and below
Were oceans of stars

And to their left and right
Lied deafening bones

The only option
To move diagonally

Into the places
That no men know
Hadrian Veska Jul 2019
They aren’t here anymore
But I see them
Towering, lumbering
To and fro
Ethereal and methodical
Carrying on
Their motions like clockwork
As if they had never left

Perhaps they never did
Or perhaps something more
Is at play in this strange,
Strange place
Hadrian Veska Aug 2017
Her fate was far worse than death
Fused to that ancient tree
An inseparable mass of delicate skin
And fragile bones

Like a macabre piece of art
Was she displayed in those dark woods
Her exposed ribcage showing
A bright red heart

Eternally pumping blood
Into a pool beneath the tree
Her skin pale white
And a sly smile on her face

Her deep green eyes
Enjoying every moment of her torture
Hadrian Veska Apr 2016
A silver blue light
Dimly illuminates the forest path

The moon hangs hidden
Behind the thick black trees

What season it was here
I could not be certain

But the air was chilled
And the muted colors surreal

The very trees seemed to breath
Exhaling long forgotten secrets

I continued on the forest path
That seemed to twist before my eyes

Losing all sense of direction
I sat at the root of a Gilrod tree

I closed my eyes and listened
Hearing a strange yet familiar tune

It was the humming of the Earth
That sweet and ancient song

The sound one can only hear
In the deep places of the world

That long ago
Have been forgotten
Hadrian Veska Jul 2016
Full moon rise
Bathe the hills in silver
Cast your faint glow
Across the sleeping lands

Where quiet murmurs
Echo from the forest
And the glow of fireflies
Illuminate the field

And when we are ready
Take us to the stars
Where we'll wait patiently
For the dawn of a new day
Hadrian Veska Oct 2016
Oh how fragile,
Delicate and tender
One day broad,
The next day slender

From what direction
Might the wind blow
Ought not question,
For we do not know

We know but little
Only that we are
But that is enough
I don't have to go far

To see the great splendor
Of a starry night sky
And if the stars aren't out
I'll just look in your eyes
Hadrian Veska Mar 2018
I am too simple
I don't like to party
I don't like to hookup
I don't like doing things
I can't remember the next day

I just like you

But the things I don't like
Mean more to you than I do

And that's ok

I will just have to find
Someone simple like me
Hadrian Veska Jul 2019
I will not entertain
The idea that we never met
There's no such thing
As a happy little accident

We were meant to be
Which is why I crossed the waves
Just to see your face
Because I know it saves

Me from who I'm not
But the me I might become
Darling you saved me
Even if it might sound dumb

And I know the Lord Has his ways
Though who are we to know
That something started selfishly
Could cause so much to grow
The great wide world ebbs and flows
All with reason this I know
Standing with you here my love
It really just goes to show

That there's no

Happy little accidents
Ideas that we never met
No there is no such thing
No thought that I will entertain

There is purpose for us here
What it is will be made clear
Just close your eyes and sing with me
This simple tune and Melody
Hadrian Veska Nov 2018
Sing me a song
Of the end of the world
Coming sooner than one may think
Tell me a tale
Of a lonesome journey
From an island that did indeed sink
Show me the marks
In weathered black stone
Where great battles long ago raged
And tell me off him
Who left his life
That our minds no longer be caged
Hadrian Veska Mar 2018
Sink low
Do you know
Where the things
That once were go?

To what glimmering plane
Between dusk and dawn

Does the void mouth lie
In an eternal yawn

Swallowing whole
All that passes through

To the world they go
From the world we knew
Hadrian Veska Mar 2018
On the sloping banks
Of Sinmar-Lein
The sun sinks low
And the moon does beam
Down to still waters
Clouded and deep
Hiding strange things
Their secrets to keep
Until time is 'ore
The world passed away
When the skies have gone dark
And the oceans turned grey
When all have forgotten
What lies there below
From legend to myth
And from myth to unknown
Hadrian Veska Jul 2018
I know you're short
But I love you so
From your long black hair
To your feet below
And it'll be ok
If you never grow

Because the size of your heart
Makes up
For your height

And when you're near
My soul
Takes flight

When it's all wrong
You make
It alright

So won't you stay
With me
Tonight
Hadrian Veska Jan 2018
Ghosts of the past
Haunt us again
Though the storm is over
The thunder can still be heard
And while the skies remain dark
I will wait with you until dawn
That those lost memories
May rest in the depths once more
Hadrian Veska Dec 2018
The graves we pass are nameless
Weather worn and old
The mausoleums slumber
Dreamlessly to hold
The bones of those before us
Whomever they may be
Beneath the wonderous moon
And weeping willow tree
Sol
Hadrian Veska Jul 2016
Sol
A lone dimming light
Was all that remained

A white dwarf star
On the verge of death

The star recalled its youth
In ages long past

Where once many species
Lived beneath its nurishing light

Now there were none
And had not been for untold millenia

Only one of the thousands
Had survived the star's long life

And they had left its heliosphere
Many eons ago

But the fading star took solace
That its ancient light

Might yet reach them
For untold cycles to come

As a single point of hope
A reminder of home

There was a magnificent burst of light
Followed by a stellar silence

Vibrant colors and gases
Suspended where the sun once was

A brilliant newborn nebula
To mark that ancient stars grave

And perhaps its children
might return one day

And pay their respects
To the long dead sun
