The leaves are reddish brown
The sun will soon go down
My love is here with me
Beneath the autumn trees

The air is spiced and chill
Of cider we’ve had our fill
I’d rather be no where but here
As we wait for the stars to appear

Constellations we do not know
We happily draw our own
Gazing into the cool night
We shudder of cold and delight

The time has come to retire
To leave and put out the fire
To crawl into our warm bed
Nothing desired left unsaid

Cuddling close in the sheets
My back feeling her cold feet
A laugh and a hug so close
A goodnight better than most

Below there are statues
Shrines and idols to gods unknown
Their forms are foreign
Yet a dark familiarity emanates from them
Those gods there enshrined
In their primordial temples built long ago
Are yet to be worshiped
Yet to emerge to the surface above
And claim their followers
Those figures of stone haunt me
I feel they are alive
Waiting and bidding their limitless time
Until they may rise
Though I am keenly aware of a growing suspicion
That they already have

The sky is overcast today
I feel as though it’s an omen
Of what I am not certain
But it will remain
In the back of my mind
Until I self fulfill
The prophecy I set for myself

Quol Del-Amonroth
Of mist and slumberstone
The stars guide me to you
Though you I've never known

And though you are but shadow
Your days of glory past,
I feel that if I find you
I'll claim what I now lack

So silver sun and blazing moon
Guide my feet that I may soon
Stand before those hallowed gates
Where once I stood in sleeping state

To enter in, for none have tried
Since long before the Earth had died
Now in that sleep beyond all death
Awake again that I might rest

The warm orange glow of sunlight
Recedes on ivied stone
Giving way to dull shadows
Waiting to be freed

The day is over
Evening blankets the sky
In red and purple hues
Heralding the coming night

In the moment between
Where sun and moon meet
Betwixt the light and dark
Can a brief glimpse be seen

Of something quite familiar
At the height of creation
Where the vast heavens
Meet the slumbering earth

There does it sit
In paradise enshrined
Peering down below
Waiting ever so patiently

To carry on from where it left
So many ages ago

They aren’t here anymore
But I see them
Towering, lumbering
To and fro
Ethereal and methodical
Carrying on
Their motions like clockwork
As if they had never left

Perhaps they never did
Or perhaps something more
Is at play in this strange,
Strange place
Hadrian Veska Jul 2019
Weathered
Moss and speckled stone
Linger
In a place that I had known
Souring
Wrinkled fruit upon the trees
Creeping
On our elbows and our knees
Crackling
of the leaves and sticks below
Hunting
As it does when sun sinks low
