Hand me another,
          I say, 'Til my heart
                    Numbs and my mind
          Forgets all its reason.

                               Actions exaggerate.
                    Unfamiliar thoughts
                              Assail. Mists of haze
          Rouse my shaken courage.

           I'll speak my heart
                              Whilst truth still
                    Hangs, pulled above
          Clouds of disorient

                               Two are one and
                    One are two, My
                              Lips utter only
          Dead words, songs
                    Of broken chords

           Regret, nostalgia,
                    Emotions entwined
                              Grant me one memory,
Of how I can get home.

                               Muddy lights, dim
                    My eyes please
                              Swaying earth
                                        Lead the way back.
Time stops and the world dissolves
into a thin mist, condensing
to form a single point
where your mind meets halfway
with her heart while the earth
and the sky meld with the amber horizon
as the midnight stars descend
to glisten and burst into brilliant supernovae
in her eyes and yours while heartbeats race
to the rhythm of unwritten love songs
and mamihlapinatapai melodies
while thought and reason escape
and words fail inevitably
as both your heart and hers are lost
in a bittersweet tangle
of ghostly kisses and longing fingertips
adrift in a sea of heartstrings
and shifting bed sheets.
Trembling fingers hold
This brimming cup.
Coffee staring blankly.
Mirrored silence.

Bitter taste invades.
My tongue, no longer
Tastes. Scent of bliss
Lingers in my veins.

I drink too soon, cup
Upends, its contents
Spilled in my lap. Reflected
My soul and my heart.

left to ponder with too much time
minutes tick by like days
and forever seems a possibility
while waiting for tomorrow

When draped in cloths of purple and the finest crimson,
Gallivanting through the summered forest,
All covered in flower and magic and light.

When heavy in the swoon of a summer afternoon,
Or bathing in the lukewarm embrace of our troubles,
Wallowing away the days
And counting down to the ones when we never have to think.

Or if by chance on the silvery moon,
When gilded with fantasy, and sitting on a happy cloud,
Overlooking our town and falling over from laughter,
For we can finally see how small we are.

It's when we find the golden afternoon,
That special time when birds never die and fairies fly,
That we will truly be content with the way of the hour glass,
And only then can we replace the changeling
With the actual thing,
No longer lost in the green and the mess,
Standing tall in the eaves,

When on our golden afternoon,
We shall be forever friends.
You feed me jewels of golden grapes,
With your lips’ sweet verbal confections.
You warm my heart with your godlike smile,
A source of our connection.
Peer into these orbs of glass,
And gaze into my soul.
Know that you, without a doubt,
Are the one I long to hold.
You douse my heart in smiling things,
You paint glowing across my face,
And, in between your enchanted fingers,
My own ones find their place.

I’ve never fallen quite so fast,
Or cared so much so soon,
But your whispered words and slight, sweet touch,
Spiral me to the moon.

I can hardly say for sure it’s love,
For, I’ve never found love so true,
But if you ever chance to fall,
I’m falling in behind you.
