I hope that one day the clouds will part
and the sun will be seen again
to the lost people down here on earth,
I hope that one day someone will have a heart
with the capacity
to blanket everyone who needs the love,
I hope that one day every God
we worship
Will bestow some relief over the pained.

I know that there must be some light
in the darkness so many see,
I don’t give up hope,
There’s too many of us that need a little extra,
that I like to keep it for us all.

I know that there will be an end
to all the feelings that rot
Our hearts,
to all the illnesses of the world,
I know that sadness
could never be infinite.

I hope that one day the clouds dissipate
so that the Sun can shine totally
for we all need some light,
I hope that one day someone is strong enough
to love all equally and richly
so that no one is left in the cold,
I hope that one day all beliefs unite
so Something
can allow us the power to change.

MR. E. A. POE AND I IN THE
OXFAM BOOKSHOP GUILDFORD.

( to the glorious Mr. S. )

One has only to
enter the shop and

the books start
talking to one

in the voice
of their author.

"Death looks
gigantically down..."

Ahhh Mr. E.A. Poe
is it your self so it is.

Jeremiah something something
or other

whispers to me
in its Biblical way:

"Because of the ground
which is dismayed..."

All the books eager
for the good home

of a mind
like mine

jumping up and down
like puppies in a pet shop

how can I
leave one behind.

"For the poor benefit of
a bewildering minute?"

Even as I depart
with all the treasures I have found

tucked under my arm
a voice calls to me:

"Com to a mountayne  and
found therein

nobody . .."
but I

am back on  the street with
"My City in the Sea."

Thomas Heywood's words still
ringing in my ears:

"O God! O God! that it were possible
To undo things undone: to call back

yesterday. . ."
The Heywood can be heard from A WOMAN KILLED WITH KINDNESS. IV v.

The Poe emerges from MY CITY IN THE SEA.

The "Mountayne" comes from Morte d'Arthur X111 xiv. where there is "...harde a voyce..."

The "...ground which is dismayed..." spouts forth from Jeremiah 14: 3-4

The "bewildering minute" comes thanks to Tourneur's The Revenger's Tragedy III iv

All these quotes for some reason or other could "shake the veil of time" for me as Mr. Elliot would put it.

The warmth and friendliness of the people who man the shop is the other vital element that conspires to make a visit to the shop a pleasure to be treasured.

The day I met a puffin we were standing in his path
Excitedly we clicked and snapped, keen to photograph
Sand eels dangling from his bill, he stood his tiny ground
Then off he flew, back out to sea and circled round and round
He came back twice to see us, so we thought what a thrill
To see this little sea clown close, with sand eels in his bill
Move out the way a local called, he needs to feed the chick
We stepped aside, he dashed straight past, into his burrow quick.
Before I met a puffin, I thought of them as tall
But in your pocket they could fit, they really are that small.
Sad eyed, painted Pierrots, a marvel to the eye
Swimming in the waters or whirling in the sky
All around a flash of orange, yellow, black, white, grey
Sorry little Sea clown for standing in your way.

We sit at the park late at night
feeling on each other’s flesh,
touching the love muscles that
spark rising seas inside our veins,
inhaling the beautiful memories
of our lives together, the moments
when we first met by the riverbank,
the waves dancing in the distance
upon our hearts.

There was a bright rhythm of dreams
inside your soul that made me fall
deep in love with you, your azure
eyes meeting mine, a treasure of
delight, an excitement running
wild, as the sun shined down
on the landscape.

Your sleek starlight surface
was a scintillating square of static
shocks striking my chests, a glittering
sensation spreading paradise across
my world.  I knew in that moment
you were the flashing light glowing
bright in my presence, the one that
could take me away from all of it,
the endless days and nights struggling
in love and bitter breakups, the world
pressed against my back, trying to
destroy the flame inside of me.

Now here we are curled up beside
each other, gently kissing tender
spots, welcoming the magic in the
air as it seeps inside our mansion.
