When 'no'
is 'maybe'
and 'yes'
is ambiguity.
Dr Peter Lim Sep 2019
Does the writer become the dreamer
or the dreamer becomes the writer?
Dr Peter Lim Jan 2019
Is forgetting
the same as not-remembering?
alas,  my forte is not logic
language puzzles and makes me sick!
Dr Peter Lim Nov 2019
When a step farther
is deemed too far
when a step backward
the past glory it would mar--

when desires are over-stretched
each will perish like a falling star
when the heart is a-flushed with love
fate contrives to inflict a deadly scar.

I see
but how clearly?

but how unreservedly?
Dr Peter Lim Apr 2018

but how honestly?

how fairly?

Do I make decisions by thinking
or feeling?
Dr Peter Lim Mar 2021
Those who are right might not be happy

those who are wrong may happiness find

but neither might be aware of any morality

right or wrong doesn't occur in their each mind
Dr Peter Lim Jan 2019
They claim superiority
let them shout before the crowd
listen well--they don't even know
what they are talking about!
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2021
Life is more self-conversation

than with others and indeed more profound

the latter is fraught with confusion

true meaning in the former is only found
Dr Peter Lim Oct 2018
Conversation
gives away
a large slice
of the person.
Dr Peter Lim Oct 2021
He said to me:

let's have a conversation--

I should let you know beforehand

with regard to opinions, I am very stubborn
Dr Peter Lim Nov 2018
By all means
let's have a conversation
but let's first agree
it's not a competition.
Dr Peter Lim Mar 13
In response to a post on 'conversing with the right people'  as enlightening

I have learnt just as much from engagements with ordinary people---
each has their own story and some such stories are poignant, heart-warming and moving.
  Who are the 'right' people-intellectuals?

The latter are so pompous and boring--not my cup of tea!
They put me to sleep!
Dr Peter Lim Apr 2021
Every relationship is a conversation and, with regard to a couple in a deep relationship, the greater need for such....

they get to understand each other better and with this,  doubts, prejudices and misgivings are removed but what is said must be honest and without reservation, or the relationship would fail.

It is true that marriage is a daily and endless conversation and, in the finest sense, borders on the sacred.
Dr Peter Lim Mar 2021
Dear Albert, but some subjects can't be explained simply and your relativity theory demonstrates this.  We can then think of Wittgenstein's TRACTATUS...etc.  There are just too many subjects that are beyond the grasp of ordinary people, even if the best attempt is made to 'simplify' them.
Dr Peter Lim Feb 23
Can you smell life
like a flower that's alive?

Can you feel its pulse
in whatever guise?

Can you hold its hand
its every message you understand?

Can you gauge its temperament
whether it's impatient or patient?

Can you be assured of its even temper
time and time over?

Can you trust its promise
and hope for the peace it gives?

Can you count on its fairness
its encouragement and praise?

Can you be sure of it being a friend
when all has fallen at the end?
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2020
With life
I engage a conversation
I hold my own
never in trepidation.
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2020
Dear Ludwig

Is imagination
possible
without the mind's visualisation?
Dr Peter Lim Nov 2018
Dear Ludwig
'Do you understand what you wrote?'
(hesitation--he seemed out of his wit)
'  Give me time--I have to refer to my note'.
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2020
Dear Ludwig,

As all language
is only at best
an approximation
is it worth our attention?
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2020
Is a thing
  a 'case'?
  if so
  explain the 'case'
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2020
As no thought
  could be presented
  as intended
is language some kind of fraud?
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2020
If language
  is limbo
  why should we
  struggle to know?
Dr Peter Lim Sep 2020
How come
   the present does seem
   remote and the long
   past as though recent?
   yet looking at the prism
   of time, the future
   appears to have happened
   in conjecture and imagination

   not three
  but a single person
  living in three dimensions

  what counts above all
  is individual freedom
  assured so seldom--
  too many indeed
  are trapped in self-prison

  to make sense
of this perpetual conundrum
a long net of life
I'll hurl to harness
the divisive
and have it transformed
into a single collective
I'll know sans doubt then
I've arrived at the wholesome.
Dr Peter Lim Apr 2020
.................
      Add 2 spoonfuls of hope
       3 cups of courage
       4 bottles of virus-resistant wine
10 drums of humour--that's the best way to cope!
Dr Peter Lim Apr 20
I'm just an ordinary writer
don't mistake me for a scholar
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

Life is not
the ****** drive
but I believe
the will to survive
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

Whatever the world
might say
you are still the king
your fame would somehow stay!
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

I am sorry to hear
about your travel-anxiety
if I were near
I could help with my Zen therapy
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

Perhaps you dream
too often and are fearful
of images and their potency
face them and you wouldn't be doleful!
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

It might not work with some
your free-assciation theory
your patients hold back
they don't want to look silly
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

Have you read Zen?
I have no doubt you would benefit
reason it does transcend
it over-shines psychiatry with its infinite wit.
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

What would you do
when you feel mentally sick?
your mind has turned against you
what therapy would you pick?
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

You are famous
with your ubiquitous cigar
is that a ****** fixation
that has gone too far?
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

Do you take tranquillisers
during a bad day?
what would deine Frau
have to say?
Dr Peter Lim Feb 2019
Dear Sigmund

You are an avid collector
so full is your room
do you do this
to escape your anxiety and gloom?
Dr Peter Lim May 2020
Count me out
let others choose to malinger
the sun is setting in the plain
the moment that's now would not come ever

count me out
the day has been heavy labour
night should be a reward
for every honest deed and endeavour

count me out
I've no business to speak of any other
life is an open door
all are entitled to leave and enter

count me in
let me be the true lover
of all things that bless
and are beautiful--forever!
Dr Peter Lim Nov 2017
Count me out!
I can't stand
the exhortation
and the shout.
Dr Peter Lim Jun 2018
You life could be a piece of cake
but that you alone must bake
Dr Peter Lim Apr 2018
Do not take a liking to me on the spot
you would find out later I was not the person you thought
Dr Peter Lim Apr 2018
The mind often doesn't know the heart
we should prevent them from drifting apart
Dr Peter Lim Apr 2018
Minding others' business was your pleasure
you were not there when your house was on fire!!
