Knowing
Knowing little
  doesn't impede:
  know how to intuit

knowing too much
tends to confuse
and mislead

that which is too full
leaves no extra room to keep
Seek
you will not find

ask
there'll be no reply

knock
the door will not open

reason
you'll be imprisoned

love
you'll be disappointed

hope
you'll regret

remember
you'll feel the pain

think
you'll not understand

speak
the language will be incomplete

travel
you'll not learn

join the club
more lonely you'll become

associate
you'll meet people who are absurd

contribute
people will not appreciate

smile
others might not like

idealise
you'll agonise

live
you'll feel the grief

this believe:
nothing has any meaning
The writer
   is no different-
   each is like you
  and me- in their element

  meaning--seeking
  questioning, doing
  doubting, laughing
  struggling, crying

  we're each with a dream
  carved in duty
  falling and rising
  in common humanity

the writer is after all our voice
he speaks more clearly:
a gift denied to most of us
to him we're drawn intimately
Weep not for me
to a happier home I go
where the brightest sun shines
and pain and sorrow is no more

  sing, oh sing for me
I'll love again to hear
you I'll still remember
and hold you more dear

Life in one word
Life in one word:
'pending'
I'm full in my emptiness
   beyond all joy and sadness
  in the letting go
the meaning of life I know

life is but a flicker of light
  too soon comes the night
  this life I've chosen:
  nothing I own--nothing is stolen

The true ease
This is true ease:
when you're not out
everybody to please!
Never ever assume
everyone desires your friendship
some people only wish
their silent living to keep

their body-language
thus this will speak
' My boundary is drawn
I ain't your pick!'
It's mental  indigestion-
knowing too much
that which is little
bears the best touch

so easy to handle
so light- it's enough
just like simple joys-
nothing is like such!
There's no cure for fear
but only in letting go
of our self--with nothing
to cling to or hold

all our life
this the elders told:
grasp, gather, collect
as though that were gold

and time passed swiftly
we  became weary and old
and realised only then that
other people's ideas had been oversold
Memory has wings
flies faster
than the person thinks-

memory the chronicler
of every person's
struggle and endeavour-

memory the Pandora's box
the owner dares not open
in fear of the shocks!

Memory, the tears-bearer
the woe of jilted lovers
who vow not to love ever-

memory --
not the teacher
but the tormentor-

memory--many will declare:
life would be much happier
if it were not there!

The Zen-person
Love me
or hate if you will
I'm a Zen person
I stay calm and still
Many began to understand
the meaning of life
only when they had suffered
the greatest strife

Life and People
Life is painful struggle
made harder by people
When suffering
is the cure:
it's steeped into
the hardest enduring
Even love doubts
though it makes no sounds
They spent so much time
seeking to know others
that they had little left
to understand their own selves

A Buddhist Idea
Wherever you are
         let your thoughts be pure:
         good Karma you'll attract
         that's the outcome for sure
Be so unconcerned and detached
   you aren't even aware
   of the smoke coming out
    from your neighbour's thatch
They don't understand me
but them,  I do--clearly:
between the two
the latter suits amply!

Knowing myself
I don't have the might
to be larger than life:
as long as I can neatly fit in
that will more than suffice
So used to life's trivia
they have taken such as treasure
I've come this far
after the severest winter
my feet and body are sore
but turn back I'll never

the voice will not stop
it continues to whisper:
'  This is your destined path
your  every fear you must conquer'
I write impelled by imagination
very rarely by dint of reason
My tent I've pitched
no one is here this night
weary are my feet
in the sky there's not a glitter of light

promises I've made - indeed
I'll fulfil ere I go to my long  deep sleep
the future shall define me
by the dreams that I faithfully keep
Admire me, smell me
but pluck you shouldn't
I'll perish sadly
and be forgotten

let me seep in
the bright sunshine
watch me in the breeze
as I dance-  do  be kind

ah, how short-lived
I am-- fragile beauty born
to wither and disappear
alone, bereft and unknown

to you. the tender poet
( you have a heart)--this I plead
write me an immortal poem
and gladly I'll go to sleep
A sound sleep is like a prayer answered
imagine the plight of an insomniac!
Youth:  I am sure

middle age: many things aren't clear

old age:  much of the past I discard which I once held dear

last years:  life--a big mess--so much distress ! Oh dear, oh dear!
Every word of yours
has the imprint of  ineradicable ink
it makes the heart pause
to wonder and think
Life--the inescapable encounter
the challenge I'll accept- run away I'll never!
Like the last falling rose in winter
lonely and silently I'll wither and die
but new ones will replenish the earth
and adorn the meadow 'neath a benign sky

if you've trusted and understood me
you'll be assured that I'll still abide
in your ever faithful heart
where love will eternally reside

The Flourishing
Life--the ugliness
and the beauty
the misery
and the glory

but everything --surely-
will flourish abundantly
when you say truthfully
that you dearly love me
Deserted forest
holds untold stories of past
here dark shadows lurk
In the deepest affliction
the sufferer gains sharp insight
into the truth of life
that far transcends reason
Not anyone's :
this is my life
it seeks not to impress
it must abide

in reverence
and conscience
in pursuit of beauty
and transcendence

my imperfections I know
and I struggle many a time
I fall and rise so often
but still seek the sublime

swiftly the hours will take their flight
and evening and dusk will too soon come:
if the day I've lived as my heart has dictated
I'll be filled with silent joy and restful calm.
Allow each day for coffee-time
or the day would pass without rhythm or rhyme

Zen
Zen
As long as your mind
is still fixated on the past
freedom will elude you
that, away you must cast

that which is full
overflow it must
only being empty
is that you should trust
Can't remember PIN number
a modern -day disaster!

Don't tell me
Don't tell me
about the other side
I've to know
that where I abide

to embrace and feel
the present sunlight
to care for my garden
ere the advent of night

don't inveigle me
to lose sight
of the delight
that resides in my inside

the little I have
all seems to be right
despite my dark spells
I know life will somehow be bright.
