We were fed, and fattened
By the millet strewn tales;
Which swayed like barley in our minds.
Those wooded bowls of grain
That spoon-fed our souls
Warmed and filled us
Until we grew whole.
But they had foretold;
The Patriarchs,
That we’d grow old
And as we did, we’d forget
That once we’d eaten, like they had
And that once, we’d too, tasted oblivion
the princess laughs and says, 'my love is a poet, the best poet ever'
oh, says the wizard, 'where you meet this prince, who is so clever?'
and the princess smiles a dazzling smile, 'by the sea, by the sand
he's building a pretty castle for me, with shiny jewels in his hand'

so mesmerized is the wizard, by a princess's enchanting smile and beauty fair,
he gives instructions, saying, 'dear princess you must take extra care'
'yes, thank you kindly sir, you are the best wizard ever, you are so fly'
'anything for you your highness, ' says wizard, 'forever your wizard am I'

Colorful and faultless souls, deprived of screaming out a name,
Limited in a box that controls ourselves,
Holding tight to an only thing that keeps us sane

Blinded and innocent,
Dreaming and weeping
We fight through our madness
Hoping not to deal with our pain

Burning and aching,
Drowning and breaking
We speak to the silence as it slowly consumes us,
Fading and remaining all the same,
Day after day

We watch the struggle and kiss away our wounds
Embracing the killer thing that makes us okay

Inundating,
Maybe with our tears or maybe with the rain...
Numbing our weakest and darkest parts,
The ones that keeps blasting our madness toward the stars but ****** to fail
Day after day.

my life can be explained
quite simply as
a paradigm
shift

had a job once for two days
working nights
on airplane parts
I quit

had a girl once
we made love in a
sailboat
and she drifted
away

went to seek
enlightenment
and found
it
fleeting

called out god's name
when I needed
help
forgot it all
when i was
well

walked through
the valleys
along
the mountaintops
and fell

to my knees
with graceful
thankfulness
but
as

much as I tried to hold it all
it fell
through my hands
like water
shifting

a paradigm
mystery
I think
of how
to hold on
