A turkey leg's delicious
with potatoes, it is grand
veggies are nutrious
have  it in your head, to plan;
Just what to eat and when
portions are the things to count
when in doubt, eat less
just have the right amount
it eliminates the stress.
Eat well and please, be merry
a steak with mashed potatoes
with a glass of frothy sherry
perhaps a salad with tomatoes.
Eat just what you crave
and do not over eat
your not livimg in some cave
we want you slim and neat!
We pray for rain
it's the only thing to do
it's dry upon the plain
and in the mountains too.
Spring is absent in these parts
the driest month is June
it's enough to break some hearts
or go crazy as a loon.
All we can do is pray
and hope He hears our call
to send the rain this way
end this prolonged stall.
The flowers wait and droop
the trees are shedding leaves
they're waiting to re-coup
we're asking pretty-please.
We have to pray for rain
it's all that we can do
to ease these arid plains
to help us see it through!

Your time is now
shadows of the night
creep (I don't know how)
it just seems right.
I yawn as sleep approaches
I look forward to the rest
numbness of the limbs enroaches
sleep to get things off my chest.
Blotting out the day
as I slowly slumber
I had my fill, my say
no more, my pick of numbers.
Going to the land of Nod
be back in seven hours
nestled in my quiet pod
climing ivory towers.
Goodnight and fond farewell
adieu and sweet goodbyes
in dreams I soon will dwell
with snoring and deep sighs.

We never said goodbye
before you died
I think perhaps
you wanted it that way
you'd be proud, I never cried
alas, I was not there, that day.
two thousand miles away
I got an email
it was, just like they say,
a bolt, right out of the blue
a notice of your death by cancer
I was unprepared, I never knew.
Parents are supposed to be
the first to die, not  a daughter
I never got over the loss
of my little boy
my heart and soul,
now twice, was tottered
my emotions totally destroyed.
Only God knows the heartache
the sorrow of a life gone by
the devestation of a famiy loss
the answers to the question...why?
It's here already
one long day of sunrise and sunset
time knows no division
the very end     -      is not yet

Perhaps it will not come
but ours , it will be certain
you can be sure of that
we'll close that final curtain

So eat and drink my poet friends
be content and be merry
love and live and laugh
our life will not tarry.
our life will never tarry.
When the rain keeps me from walking
and the cold keeps me away
and I don't feel much like talking
then, I find another way...

to entertain my soul
to satisfy my longing
such things that make me whole
I do not like prolomging.

A good book is a plesdure
or some peaceful, quiet song
Chopin's a pleasant treasure
nothing noisy or too strong.

The walk still beckons me
the clouds have left the sky
is that the sun I see?
then I must say goodbye!

I say hello
they pass on by
as if they did not hear
strangers on a hiking trail
'tis these people
that I fear.
