I wasn't always sleeping when you were gone.
At times when I heard the door shut, I rose.
You see I was terrified of John,
He crept up in my room; lightly stepping on his toes.

Not knowing if he was mad he'd say "come here!"
Always listened, for I heard the cries at night.
The house was drenched in fear.
Twenty one years have gone by and I still recall the fight.

Blood dripping from her shoulder.
Tears falling from her cheek.
That is when I built up anger! (aaaahhh)
My brother and I weren't strong enough to take on his physique.

All we could do was stare as he desperately tried to bring her down.
She used the wall as leverage.
John all while losing stamina for the takedown.
My mum stood her ground and tired the beast with unforeseen courage!
I've heard a lot of "kids wont remember a thing as they get older". Even with the crash that I was in, I still recall a few terrors.
I've been beaten down,
torn apart and ripped to shreds -
I have the war scars to prove it,

I've been knocked down,
broken to pieces and left out in the cold -
I've been trampled and defeated.

Somehow,
I've managed to stay alive -
It's nothing short of a miracle,

I've managed to turn my pain
into poetry--an art -
I've even managed to make it lyrical!

Poetry is my life!
Without it I would be completely lost
In a world I don't fit into.

You hear about the sleepless nights
The crying, the suicidal thoughts.
The cloudy days when it's sunny
And the thunderstorms in the cool breeze

You hear about the support groups
The suicide hotlines, the public outcry.
#westandwith__, #alwayskeepfighing,
The sad poems and the sad playlists.

But you never hear about the reality

The way depression looms over your head,
Not as a cloud, but as a faceless mass
Of pure darkness, that paints a smile on your face
So people don't notice you're hurting

It's the feeling of complete and utter nothingness,
When you sit in class and stare at the teacher
But don't hear a thing he's saying because you're too sad, too upset to move or think.

It's the paranoia that you feel
When your friends leave you for a split second
That feels like minutes, then feels like hours.
It's the loneliness that sets in
While numbers and friends are within arm's reach.

It's the messy room, the scraps of chocolate wrappers on the floor.
The piles of laundry you haven't touched in weeks.
The homework you've been putting off because you were too ******* sad to do it
The pain on your lover's face when he realised he can't do anything
And the pain on yours when you hate seeing him in pain
And the cycle goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on

...

It's the constant apologising.

The constant self-hatred.

The self-medication with good things and movies but nothing seems to work.

I just want to be okay.
I'm not having a very good day.
‪When you  strive for something you want so badly to a point where it'll push you to not wanting it anymore at all,, just to ease the ache of an unfulfilled want
Reaching out across the stars,
we've had to fight since birth,
so that our burning avatars
could unite our lights on earth.

Arms raised not to withdraw
beneath the crying horizon,
a closing coup de grâce
where a shattered moon is rising.

Towards one another we race
with no space left to divide
the endless dancing embrace
of two worlds that finally collide.

She paints her world
According to her pure intention.
Pure in her own figure,
Not in someone else's.
She doesn't speak,
Of words in complex.
Her mouth but translates
Her minds complexity into simplicity.
She doesn't need to speak but rare.
You've read her words,
You've witnessed the paradox
Of her pen-to-paper.
You understand her terminology
Of no bad cause.
She wordlessly preaches her rootless existence
Through the essence of her eyes,
As she hides behind the smoke of her cigarette
Extraordinary, in disguise
