I sense this world is not what it seems
This sugar-plum Home, some counterfeit dream
Where I might have played
        dress-up in mother's closet
And pretended to be grown -- like her
And beautiful -- like her

Where I might have had enough to eat
        Safe inside a child's sleep
My sparrow's heart tucked in with a story

Tonight I drank the star-studded sky
As the need for why
        dissolved in my cup
Now is enough --
Flocks of birds
Across the morning sky
Tell me
I’m not in the city any more.

Don't know what they are, just know they're beautiful.
Breathe into a red balloon, how it grows. Release your grip and watch it go.

Breathe out in the bitter cold, see it rise. Watch it vanish before your eyes.

Breathe on a window pane, fog your view. Trace a heart and wipe it through.

We may slip and fall
But, we continue to rise
There is always hope to do better
Together, we keep our eyes on the prize
No one ever said that life would be easy
But, life is worth living
Always put in the effort and energy
Press forward and do good things
They Say the Prisoner...

With references to Article 58, Senator McCarthy, and Casablanca

He’s one of them
That is, he was
And now he’s dead

If he’s not safe
Then you’re not safe
It only takes
An accusation

They have a list
It’s on the ‘net
You’re on the list
You’re on the ‘net
They’re at your door

You didn’t do it?
You all say that

They haven’t decided
If you will suffer
A heart attack
Or die while trying

To escape

Rains you ought to take a break
Raining havoc
The last few days
The dams and rivers all swollen
Low lying area exposed, unsafe
Mistaken city and state
This is not Cherrapunji
Well that’s the place where you are busy raining and must through the year
Don’t overshadow the sun
Let it shine in its place
It’s been days and we need the sun
The birds hidden
They don’t chirp and fly
As much as they usually do
Oh come on rain take a break
Hindrance you caused to work and play
Schools closed
Delayed examination
I know we have prayed for you
And now ask you to leave
Have we been the cause of all of this
Yeah the answers we know and still seek
Still I humbly pray
Please oh please
Rain take a break
Cherrapunji- receives the highest rainfall!
