Tear
this moment
from the grip of an unsteady reality
Carve
this mountain
make your own immortality
Rend
this canvas
into a million tiny flakes

Compassion is a
Smile
An open ear
No judgment

Compassion
Is a hug
Warm
And accepting

Compassion
Is a tissue
For the tearful
And my last dollar bill
To a stranger

Compassion
Is a thousand fold paths
Of daily acts
Of kindness

if you saw him on the street
you wouldn't glance twice
because he does not look extraordinary
and he does not make your heart
skip a beat

but
when you listen to the wonderful, tinkling sound
of his laughter
and his inexcusable, almost inappropriately funny remarks
and when you happen to be lucky enough
to catch him smiling when no one is watching; he makes
your head spin

he is not the most beautiful to the rest of the world
and his eyes do not compare to the brightest of stars, his
hair is not an ocean-type mess and his freckles are not like grains of sand

instead his eyes are like like warm hot chocolate when
you are barely awake and are trying to get through the day, his hair is the
disaster that you can't help but be captivated by and his freckles are like carefully placed light orange dots that seem to connect in a way

I do not see him on the street anymore--
and that is the reason that I no longer
drink hot chocolate and why I hate the color orange
because god, he was not the most beautiful boy in the world
and he wouldn't make a stranger's heart beat twice
but he made mine
and in the end,
that was all that really mattered
"i'll be your augustus if you'll be my hazel grace"

this poem is bad. very bad. i apologize if you have now been traumatized by my terrible writing.

His eyes were searching for her’s,
his words waited for her to speak,
his smile blossomed to being on seeing her smile,
his thoughts were always with her,
his breath too changed when she was around,
his skin longed for her touch and her warmth,
his dreams were filled with everything about her,
his love for her was simple, yet strong,
his life depended on her happiness, he said,
his happiness is her life she said.
Welcomed by
A flower garden
of nature's bounty beauty
of multiple variety
I had a feast for eyes at site
Paused at every flower
Posed for every click
Poised to every flick
Some are beautiful
Some are fragrant
Some are nectareous
To my surprise, I found
none of them with
all in one to pick up,
Except you,
The exceptional flower
With impressive power
Gazing at flowers
As if for me
Conspicuously
From a lovely angle

At night, the moon creeps over the horizon.
The world goes to sleep,
and my demons awake,
haunting me, taunting me, poking at me.

But, with the rising sun,
comes each cliché that we rely so much on:
the promise of a new day,
and the clear thoughts of a night's rest.
Suddenly, life is fresh again.
And you shake your head and smile
when thinking of your demons,
now so small and irrelevant in the sunlight.

The problem starts when,
the darkness of the night
starts oozing into the
light of the day.
The problem starts when,
the sun's sanity,
on which you relied so much,
suddenly seems so weak.

...

and then you're sinking
and the sun becomes blurry
and your world grows murky,
and you can't breath.

But there in the depths
stood a candle.
And while the darkness
becomes indistinguishable from itself,
the light fights on.
So soft, so sweet.
And the wax weeps down, down, down
giving it's warmth to the darkness.

And suddenly the world seems so bright.

how cannot i say
what you are to me
my best friend
is what you are to be
in times of worry
i know where to hide
in times of adventure
ill know where to ride
a mystery girl
is what you first were
who would of thought
that you are my cure
my medication
for when i am sick
the hand on the clock
for where my life ticks
my eyes can not grasp
the smile that i see
next to you is a place
that ill always want to be
ill forever be grateful and
thanks is what ill plea
that my best friend is she
who fell in love with me

vague rememberance
beautiful things don't ask for attention.
they often roam around silently.
just like a polar bear, or snow leopard.
gorgeous but not always seen at first glance.
take a second look and you might just see that the world,
well the world isn't as ugly as we make it seem.
this was inspired by an experience that i had today. the world is beautiful and we need to embrace it.

Dear Maggie Grace,

I find you to be a phenomenal poet. I want to recognize, acknowledge, and express my admiration, for all of your marvelous work, you are a beautiful part of this site and I have selected some of my favorite lines from your work. It is all really spectacular, and I have put my interpretations and thoughts below each poetic phrase you wrote:

Drinking my cold chai tea,
Tears falling endlessly.
-Maggie Grace

This is so vivid and genuine. The reality and physicality captured by these lines is fascinating and incredible. The description of the sensory so simply yet brilliantly put. I love your style of poetry. Also, chai tea is amazing. ;P

“Yes, I’m fine,”
And people believe me,
-Maggie Grace

You bring to focus such an achingly relatable topic. To be so indescribably not fine, but to say it anyway and to have people believe you, it is a unique and unpretty type of pain.

Weaving their web of lies,
Their pain they hide.
Don’t say hurtful things,
-Maggie Grace

I love, love LOVE these lines “weaving their web of lies” such magnificent imagery WOW! And the message you convey is such a vital one. To fight against hurtful words.

Save the teenage girl,
she needs her life,
she needs her everything,
stop bullying.
-Maggie Grace

Bullying is such a global, agonizing problem and you have truly snared the essence of the anguish of being bullied. You are an excellent poet.

I like to wander in the snow, and think about things, like you.
-Maggie Grace

You paint a picture with words here, and so many of us can really connect with that sort of feeling, a pensive mood, pondering another soul in this world. The setting you provide is lovely. “To wander in the snow” how delicate and beautiful.

Maggie Grace,

Thank you for blessing Hello Poetry with your presence. I am proud to call you a fellow poet, I could really feel your soul in the poetic pieces you compose and you have a beautiful soul from what I can tell. Keep writing, because you are a credit to the art of writing. :)

Love Ember Evanescent

there is too much sadness in this place
so wipe the shame off your face
read a book, sing a song
you won't feel bad for very long
sadness is common happiness is rare
so be a gem shining fair
help turn coal into diamonds
because in time your wounds will mend
don't pity yourself
be content with yourself
Strengthen yourself!
you're the only one who can

cursed
You're my source of happiness.
I can't be happy if my happiness is not happy.
When my blue mood threatens to turn black,
you will show up and tell me my moods are
                                                                    azure
                                                                   indigo
                                                                cerulean
                                                                    cobalt
                                                            periwinkle
and suddenly the blue will not seem so dark,
more like the color of a noon-bright sky.
                                              You bring the sun.
