Fear not the moonlight's lonely calling
lets dance a while as stars are falling
to tunes formed from our hearts desiring
and gladly we shall greet the morning.

Though Luna's sorrow may be bright
enchanting all on loveless nights
take heart and whisper with delight
that love is here, just out of sight.

Then when the dawn in chorus starts
and from our skies she softly parts
please offer up as she departs
a kiss upon her lonely heart.
I love a full moon, a truly beautiful sight though she does bring a melancholy air.

And the forest was silent again…

Splintering shadows creep slowly
across the overgrown footpath
frantic fingers slivering in sinister shapes

Slumbering moon beams cloaked,
abaft of a stately oaken veil,
a canopied thorn and branch woven tapestry

Wallowed whispers cling to cavernous winds
pushing chinaberry stalkers deep
under the cover of moss coated roots

When suddenly…

          Underbrush fantasies flourish
          behind vine wreathed curtains,
on fallen leaf stages of assorted colors

Foot light fireflies trim the edges
          in panoramic illuminations,
          flickering to tickle every fancy

Fairies perform pirouettes on tippy toes
Glistening wings flutter, shimmering to the
          melodic sounds of hedgehog harmonies

As bullfrog baritones and spider web sopranos,
sing the sweetest songs in the key of autumn
bringing smiles to all of the creatures in attendance

When suddenly…

Far away on the eastern horizon
the faintest specklings of amber appear
slipping through the densest drapes

A great horned owl yawns and blinks,
gazing eyes follow the turning head
as he surveys another day in his life

Sounds of scurrying, bristled brush
echo through now glowing limbs
signaling the end of the evening

And the forest is silent again…
Just a little whimsy on a Thursday

No Mortgage Will Be Due
(A happy poem)

Today I fulfilled a lifelong dream
That I wanted to share with you
I wrote a check and bought a house
No mortgage will be due

I had to work for what I want
Had hard times along the way
But knowing that each step I took
Would get me to this day

I did not spend all I have
On this house I will call home
I put some back for a rainy days
To help others who I know

I will share this home with my son
And one day will pass it on
So that he can give the gift of love
Like he gave me when he was born

So today I fulfilled a lifelong dream
That I wanted to share with you
I wrote a check and bought a house

No mortgage will be due

Just a happy poem from me to get the feeling out. These poems we write sometimes are not all lessons learned or touch your heart and make you cry poems. Some are just simply made to invite you to share a life journey. This is one of those.  I am inviting you to share with me this step in my life. Thank you for reading.

She jumps up when my key turns,
Leaving her sofa;
Greeting me like a puppy would
Its owner after

Twenty one dog-days.
I drop my bag and guitar,
Swimming in the scent of
Woman straight

From shower. All is home with
This girl. No palace of gold, no
City in the clouds,
No exotic boat ride on

Green waters, no top of any
Mountain, no bar, casino or
Cabin in the world where I'd
Rather be than here.

After we've sat -nearly on top
Of each other- for a while, she
Asks what I'd like to do now.
Anything that includes my

Girlfriend,
I reply, and she hugs
Me for the seventeenth time in
As many minutes.
Can't stop touching each other.

Her hair is a unicorn's mane
Against my hands, skin like a baby's
Tummy, hands like those of a young
Mother's upon anything she

Loves; all with the honest affection
Of one.
I am home, I sigh to myself, and
She looks at me as if thinking

He is home, leaving me so
Happy for us both that I just
Want to lean down over our relationship
And pat it lovingly behind its ear.

"Let's dance!"* she cried, her hair swept back
Her golden trailing hair
Her arm moved swift as lightning and
She darted forth a slender hand
To force an unprovoked attack
That forced him from his chair

"What's this?" he said, his eyes were keen
His striking blue-green eyes
He watched her moves unfolding and
He countered with a steady hand
A move that she had never seen
Denying her the prize

Now back and forth, they whirled and twirled
Each pushing for a chance
Her golden hair hung loose and free
His striking eyes shone bright with glee
Their colored banners both unfurled
As each took up the dance

As he bore down upon her front
She left herself exposed
He ****** in deep into the gap
And fell into her subtle trap
Encircling him, she heard him grunt
And saw his eyes were closed

"So soon?" she grinned, her lips upturned
"A shame you couldn't wait!"
He smiled and then he held her tight
And in the flickered candlelight
He looked into her eyes that yearned
And said, *"You win! Checkmate!"

still awake
yet my body
longs for sleep

thoughts are
rushing in and
not slowing down

the more I try
to sleep I
am more awake

I am sleepless
not because I
am full of fear

I can't sleep
because my heart
is brimming with love

I am filled
with anticipation of
love yet to come

Tryst
Today I met four horsemen, riding on a trail
One looked hungry, one looked ill, and one looked deathly pale
The last one looked so angry, he had war within his eyes
They reigned their steeds, came to a stop, and took me by surprise

"The end is nigh mere mortal" the pale one rasped at me
"Your Lord has come, the Earth is done, there's nowhere you can flee!"
I pondered for a moment, and then a thought occurred
"It’s student rag week, right?" I said, "You all look quite absurd!"

I went on with my journey, and met another stranger
Dressed in a robe, with sandalled feet, he seemed to pose no danger
He raised his hands with palms outstretched, and I observed old scars
Above his head, the oddest thing, a halo bright as stars

"Prepare yourself for Judgment" proclaimed he in a lofty voice
He opened a book, took a quick look, then said "Oh right, you're nice!
First one today"
he muttered, "Most go the other way"
"Of course they do!" I forced a smile, and slowly backed away

I bade farewell politely, and he hurriedly wandered on
"It takes all sorts", I mused, feeling glad that he had gone
I resumed my journey eagerly, looking forward to it's end
And all was good, right up until, I went around a bend

The path was blocked with walking dead, flesh hanging from their bones
The younger ones, despite their state, were using mobile phones!
One told me that his name was Elvis, and he used to be a singer
But he stared at me, so hungrily, that I didn't dare to linger

When finally I made it home, I grabbed a bottle of *****
I sat right down, switched on TV, and flicked onto the news
"Breaking Story! The end is here, The Apocalypse has begun!"
The reporter seemed excited, and was waving round a gun

Shots rang out and sirens wailed, not all of them on TV
I heard commotion, in the street, a bit too close for me
I took a glug of whisky, and it tasted mighty fine
"If the world was going to end", I said, *"I'm sure there'd be a sign ..."

Her first day at the new job.
Lead Graphic Designer, Norway.
I'm as proud as her parents.
She's a goddess at work.

I walk past the white church
And up the hill. Kindergarten
Sounds. The key she gave me
Fits. Why wouldn't it?

I arrive before her.
Barely anything here is mine.
Yesterday's red wine stains
On the glass table

Remind me of something
She did that made me laugh
So hard that Portuguese
Stuff almost came out of my

Nose. She cracks me up.
Cracks me open like a can of
Tuborg and helps herself to
Mouthfuls of my infatuation.

I am in awe, I catch myself
Thinking as I rest my bag on
Her sofa and join it.
Silence but for the shy humming

Of the fridge. She has a thing for
Freshness; every room smells clean.
The scent of fabric softener on
Her bed mixes beautifully

With that of her skin. I noticed it
The first time we hugged.
The first time we met.
First date,

Not even a month ago.
Moving fast; we've agreed that
We're too old to not let ourselves
Get carried away.

Too much to lose, to lose.
First time alone in her apartment.
I'm not a guest here,
No stranger to these walls.

In good old fashioned love, but
More. Just as anyone in any kind
Of love feels theirs is.
I try not to wait for the sound of

Heels up the outside stairs, but I am
Too happy not to, and for now I'm
Just relieved; the key she gave me
Fits. Why wouldn't it?

Stardust dreams
caress your heart
A' play upon a midnight sky,
weaving thoughts
in quiet moments

Worries form on moonlit whispers
climbing shadows now
luring your eyes
to far away visions
painted in the colors
of true love

I hold you
with caring arms,
protecting you from your fears,
sitting by your side
as you sleep this September night

Find those stardust dreams
floating within reach
for I bring them to you
softly and sweetly in my love
as you close your eyes...

~

Because of you
I learned to live
I learned to breathe
I learned to give

I learned to write
I learned to read
I learned to want
I learned to need

I learned to sing
I learned to talk
I learned to dance
I learned to walk

I learned to look
I learned to know
I learned to listen
I learned to grow

I learned to dream
I learned to care
I learned to hear
I learned to share

I learned to gain
I learned to teach
I learned to find
I learned to reach

I learned to smile
I learned to grin
I learned to love
All over again
