I am but a nation,

Torn to pieces

My poor broken heart

left to scatter apart

Like a flag,

Abandoned to the breeze

And the mercy of whichever way

The winds may take me.

My colours are faded

And split apart

Representing the many different parts

Of my life.

Red is my passion

And love in my heart,

White is where my thoughts and feelings

Are at their most pure,

Green is for growth

And my love of nature,

Yellow is my cowardice

Of which I am ashamed,

And black

Contains all possibilities.

In singularity each only represents

Part of me

Only when colours unite together

To unify my soul

Will you ever

Get to see me whole.

Traveler
In an effort
To be rewritten
Or rather
Be rid of
A lack of remittance
And a reputation there of

I leap into the darkness
Of a complicated mind
One must ride the lightning
To justify the lines

Though these insinuations
Seem intended to intrigue
Never mistake a Traveler
  For some old hippy freak...

With growth comes learning
And this may be through formal education
Through parables and proverbs from the old Or simply through makeshift prints of experiences of a novice nature.

And from all the above I have decided to accept each one as it comes without a proper definition of hierarchy .
The parables of growth I encounter each  day ,am learning to define each one accordingly  every other day

the peace
we seek
True love
shall be revealed.

In the desert of hopelessness, solitude,
dying of unimaginable thirst

Astray, exhausted pilgrims await
redemption
above thin air

gradually unveil
sweat-soaked
parts of their hidden identity

The last luscious mirage
lures to death
with fairy castles, fairy lands

Gaze of night - eye of depths

The last straw
broke the camel’s back

the devil does not roam
these blackened rooms
his is not the voice
that booms
and screams
from stage
to wall
in joyous tongues
recounts the fall
then rise to grace
the pulse
of life
that loves
not hates
music flows
from heart to mouth
letting all the demons out
here acceptance
blooms again
and we remember
we are kin
My daughter and I go often to a small club called El Corazón (the heart) to watch the alternative post-******* metal bands she loves. It's a beautiful thing to witness how these young bands and their fans treat each other with such love and respect.  After the attacks on venues in Paris and Orlando, it's not hard to imagine evil walking through the doors of this place.  From my heart to those who have lost loved ones to violence.

look beyond the midnight skies
well past where the dim light dies
what you might find in the dark
is a brand new way to realize

look beyond what your eyes see
to where your thoughts try to flee
what you might find in your mind
is a brand new way to be free

A few years ago when my eldest boy

Was still at primary school

He took Jasper with him.

This is a stone

Reputed to have mystical properties.

After school I asked how his day had gone.

"It was like I was famous" he said.

"Girls were chasing me

All over the playground,

It was horrendous!"

"I'm taking another one tomorrow!"
