Thank You for the pain —
Thank You for Your wisdom.
Thank You for the angst —
Thank You for letting it run its course.
Thank You for Your grace —
Thank You for letting me be,
fancy-face and free.
You are gracious and kind.
You are loving, Your words bind.
You are tender.
With no remorse, You're re-making me slender.
Your fingerprints are love marks all over;
Kisses from heaven.
Blossoms are the
Hopes and dreams
Attached to the thorny
Stems of life
We all have to climb
To smell the roses

simple delights: warm air carrying buzzing bees,
pollinating big trees, bringing me to my knees,
alive and grateful; yes, please!

I woke up today a zombie
Walking around with dead eyes
Legs dragging through their course
Feeling like dead weight without useful force

I miss a girl
For her hugs and the fact she pitied me
She was warmth to my dead body
But she didn't actually want me
It's been a year and she doesn't know

I thought I had close acquaintances
But they just laugh at me
The familiar clown pacing unknowingly
The hanged man and the fool

Everywhere I go it's always the same
I get up each day hoping for change
But something's gotta snap me out of it
As my happiness is an illusion painting

I go up, and suddenly it's down
Never right, no one understands my frown
Or anything I ever do at all
But no one says anything as they tower over me so tall

The council has decided
Decided a slow sentence
A delusional death
Penitence for a past life's sins

Today, I let you go—
not because it’s easy,
but because I can’t live
in the shadows of almost
and what-if anymore.

I was your spare time,
never your choice.
I carried love like a burden
you never asked for.

But this time,
I choose me.

Let them watch—
I will not shrink to stay wanted.
I will not ache to feel enough.

Because I am.
And I will be more than enough
for someone who sees me clearly.

This is the ending.
But it’s also the return—
to myself.
I used to think that without a partner
I wasn't whole
that I needed someone to complete me
what I didn't realize is that
I am 100% by myself and
a partner should also be 100%
200% combined
I am complete by myself
I don't need someone to make me whole
I am whole
a partner should be an addition
not a completion
I am whole by myself
I am complete

Lying here,
again, in the bath.

My thoughts turn
To the Ancient Romans
Gathering together
At their community baths;
Sitting naked,
Talking politics, pottery
and…poetry of course…showmen?!
Did they have no shame?
Did they let it hang
For all in sundry to speak
Their ancient prose
And then finish up
With a wash-down, cold hose?

What is it about loose eyelashes
That prompts wofty wishes;
Are they heaven’s kisses
In disguise?

We all want to lift our eyes
Above the cloak of disguise
Even if it may compromise
The facade, and authenticity’s surprise.

This world is concrete;
In Western buildings and streets,
In the here-and-now, we can flee
And dismiss lofty things as absolute.

But we are meaning-makers,
We are constant risk-takers.
We are pursuers for magic’s sake,
And may our quest we foolheartedly take.
What do you do when you see free eyelashes? Anything? Nothing? It is curious our daily practices.

How long will you look away
and pretend it doesn’t matter?
See our world in decay,
all our children getting fatter.
Pesticides, herbicides, aluminum in our rain!
PSAF’s in our blood cells, plastics in our brains.

Corporations chasing profits as the empire gasp for power.
The time is now to rise and fight and stop being a bunch of cowards!

Critics collude together in cliques to keep themselves safe from reality.
Truth is subjective, they say, diluting its potency and dilating its delusions.
But grounded, truth becomes a platform on which to
kick critics to the curb,
Taste the dirt of their terse tunes.

Wear your heart on your sleeve…
And let it get *****!

Love fully, but be prepared for heartbreak.
Know that these are the best
Days of your life;
they won't last forever,
But the memories leave traces rife.

They will reveal parts
You never knew existed,
Never knew you resisted,
And never knew you needed.

A true friendship is like a mirror
Where you see yourself reflected,
In the gaze of the beloved.
