With my quill I transcribe thoughts into words. I ply a trade on paper and into print. I shape and mold ideas into daggers that pierce through corruption and injustice. I sharpen my implement to do battle against the ideas of ignorance and censorship. I cut to the core of the bone and separate the marrow from it. I slice out the forked tongue that tells lies and spits venom. Only with the written word can I stand my ground. When I am silenced, I find another way to pull my words together. In freedoms name, I may even lose my life. Yet my pen will cut sharper than any blade, because the truth and the idea of freedom cannot die.

Open a book and turn a page. Let your mind wander through another persons thoughts. See what is before you and understand a new thing. Change the direction of your life. Know that you will not agree with everyone, but be open to see from their perspective. Decide for yourself if what you have read suits you. Then respond if you feel the need to make a different argument. Ideas must flow and be exchanged in order for understanding to take root. Oppression and suppression of new thoughts is not an option that a free person can abide, so the exchange of ideas must go on.

There have been times in my life

Where I have been selfish, cruel

Wandered my own path

Heedlessly needlessly

Burning bridges

Now I am older

Slightly wiser

I choose to gather friends

Not enemies

Think of others

Sometimes before myself

Because honestly

I have found

Altruism is good for the soul

To give of oneself for no return

Or quid pro quo

Ultimately I've found

You reap what you sow.

Won't be here to always tell the story,
right?
that's why rather than feeling sorry,
I write...

Find that
someone that
becomes the
gust of wind
who turns the
weight on your shoulders
to dust.

Should
Warm, bright summer day.
Blue sky with barely a cloud.
How shall I spend it?
How shall I live in the moment?
All appears so clear and lovely.
On this warm, bright summer day.

Oh no!
What's this?
The dark clouds are rolling in so fast!
This was not in the weather man's forecast!
Such strong gusts!
Where has this storm come from?
All of a sudden?
I need to find shelter,
before I get pelted!
By the hail.
Which comes with this fierce gale.

Without warning.
From a warm, clear sunny day.
A storm has come my way.
Just like in my life.
Skies can be either sunny or grey.
I need to take shelter under God's wing.
Every day.
For I will never know when will come
the sudden storms.
So it is always wisest
to just stay
in His arms.
