The boss at christmas is named John
He runs a church festival on the church lawn
His staff doesn't know the difference
What? They ******* refference?
Between a platter and a plate
And I don't know what the hell I ate?
One Shishkabob and rice
Ain't that nice
Humus was so gross
From your heads to your toes
Taboule is suppose to be some kind of salad
Won't someone make this into a ballad?
Overpricing
and that's the icing!
Belly dancing
And people prancing
A band and A DJ
and that's okay!
What else more can I say?
After all these years he's still cheap
Leave a message after the beep!
The Boss at Christmas was written in the 80's and made American Poetry Anthology book in 1984 Fall/Winter vol 3 book 3+4 page 412 About a cheap boss that didn't want to buy his wife a present on Christmas now he runs a church festival Are you kidding me So it deserved a sequel many years later lol!

Have you been
riding the cosmic wave?
Soul surfing through the sky?
Looking for the answers
in one hundred billion galaxies?
So have I.

Well, a month into the job
as local sheriff I needed an assistant
and so I advertised and got one interviewee
“What’s 1 plus 1?” I asked
“11,” came the swift reply

Well, I thought, that was creative,
and might be useful in the job
and so I said:
“What two days of the week start with T?”
“Today and Tomorrow,” was the reply

Well, maybe that’s how creative people are, I thought,
in this part of the country;
so I narrowed things to general knowledge:
“Who killed Abraham Lincoln?”

“Wow!” said the candidate, completely elated.
*“You mean I got the job
and you’re already putting me
on my first ****** case?’
...first in a series of poems on ******, detectives, lawyers and such...

Poets
write words
meant
to be spoken
to
one's self.
If you're freely willing
to see your dreams grow root

take the honey grove route.

It's the name of a place
without a bee or a hive
where you arrive
if only you take a wrong drive

lose your way
on a forgetful day
to reach a space
of wide eyed face
where the children have never seen a car

or may be one or two
with wanderers like you
that once in a year
strayed this far
and to give their dreams a root

took the honey grove route!
was there this sunday, not on any map but would be forever with me.

Tryst
Thy vision of beauty,
Butterfly,
Fluttering free
O'er flower and brook,

Is ever so more
Beautiful,
Than seeing thee twixt
The leaves of a book.

"This is Tom Clay
on KRLA
It's seven forty eight
there's a sigalert
on the Ventura Freeway
and you are already
too late for work
might as well stay home
and
get into some rock'n roll.

Comin' at you with
Baby Baby Baby
by
S Bonney and the Velveteers"

Baby baby baby
won't you step outside
with me.

The moon light's bright
if I give you one kiss
would it be all right?

Baby baby baby
won't you step outside
with me.

The Aspen it's a quaking
my heart it's a breaking
my mind it's a trembling
my knees are a shaking
like Elvis on tv

Baby baby baby
won't you step outside
with me.

You said he was your best friend
the benefits part I don't think
I ever heard again
and any way
your eyes are shining
Benny E King is singing
a warm north west
desert wind is blowing

Baby baby baby
won't you
step outside with me.

"Remember in the department store
of life
the sports department is
always next to the toy department.

KRLA, LA
signing off
L.A. it's your day. "
A tribute/parody to the early days of a.m. radio when rock and roll was the devil's playground and everyone was young.
The days of the 3 minute song. In the words of the legendary Masked Sleepy Z, nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Morning comes calling
Little birds singing their tunes
Ushering a new beginning
Being gifted with a new sun
Invoking our spirits to rise
Nature says, “Come hither”
Realizing, we are her child
A new dawn in our life
Morning comes calling
