Along the endless primal shore
I walk across the sandy floor
To quest the riddle of the door
The seed of life's infinite core

Countless waves bring the force of rhyme
To all the colors that I find
Reflecting in the sea of time
The yesterdays it leaves behind

The puzzle melds into collage
The vagaries of truth's mirage
What culmination could assuage
It's mighty rambling barrage

The repetitions cycle on
To form the tambour of the dawn
I sing a simple flowing song
Of what I'd be before too long

i watched the earth
consume the sun,
a rampant fire blazing within.
the sky turned orange
and pink and peach and purple
and everything in between,
it was like an explosion had gone off
and left the beauty and dust behind,

i eyed the green trees
become dark silhouettes,
painting themselves
against the backdrop of opalescence.
smoke coming from chimneys
took on a dark grey shade
and outlines of houses and rooftops
began to separate the gravel from the welkin.

i adored the sky ablaze
and watched it scorch and blacken
with rage.
it was everything and nothing,
and as angry as it was, it felt peaceful.
and at once, the sky was dead,
and small fragments
of the previous blaze dotted the dark coat above.

it was as if to say,
the world is sleeping,
but our problems are not,
for though the sky is dark
and no longer ablaze,
stars still coat the interstice
to remind us of what is unfinished.
• i watched the sun set today and it made me think about how it's an ongoing war between the sun and the moon...

Jack Underhill
Call me such the liar and fool this is true, give no notice of the kindness and careful actions I have given you; but if still you feel cheated and swindled by my small offense, then I offer up in recompense. That while you sleep and so soundly slumber in your bed, behind your dreams I visit you in your head. A more clever prankster there never was to prey upon your petty needs, only to guide you through your misled deeds. However you may have strayed so far from these your gentle homes, I will have you back before the sun arose. Call to me not before the midnight hour for from your lips my name will hover, and roll along your awaking tongue the name Jack Underhill will be far gone.

DaSH the Hopeful
I opened myself up and pulled my ribs to the side
Trying to find something that matters.
                   Something to stick to.
A religion,               a belief,
                |Anything
And in the              dark empty space
                |I found
Whatever                  led me to understand who I                                Thought I was
                **|was already dead.

You know you've got a problem
When candy is more than dandy—
When all you want is sugar,
And start trading teeth for candy.

Death is an amerous being
Whose arms only want to hold you
The sky in Ohio is gray
Deny
Refute his claim
His conquering of your flesh
His irascible nature incurable
That your not ready to join him
In whatever darkness is his aim
His joy
His lonely and greedy demands
His need for fossils
Keep your light
Give your life
When the time is right
The sky in Ohio is gray

You have a chance
Take it and run
Away from his hateful clutch

So many drown in depth
So few
Can see depth with feeling
I am an ocean
Could you be a shark?
Breathing underwater
Always moving forward
Ready to eat my words alive

So many burn in the fire
So few
Can ever control
I am a flame
Running wild
Untamed by hands of man
Turning all to ashes
Especially the willing cinder

I burn for you
I throw my spirit onto paper
My spirit
I only hope you can overcome

I create life in you
You
Who I've never seen
And never spoken too
I paint colors on gray skies
And feelings on the wind

I give you dreams
You
Who only know me
As a name without a face
I trace lines in outer space
I give meaning to constellations

I teach you imagination
You
Who wonder mindlessly
Through lifes daily procession
I reach heaven and hell
Bringing you the better parts of both

I am your hope
You
Who knows that art will still exist
Even if unappreciated
I was born for a purpose
Even if its lost on most

I show love to you
You
A better thing I'll never do
A deeper truth found only here
In the words
Of the poet
Written for all the poets, what do we write for anyways?

I'm in the sky
With a knife
Stabbing at the clouds
Massive gashes
The belly of the nimbus
Bleeding out
Its cries are thunder
Its tears are rain
The sky is pain
I strike as lighting

These gray skies in my eyes
Are how the storm in my soul
Tries to escape

I'm in the wind
Howling with the trees
Your whole house quakes
Foundation shakes
My whisper in the breeze
Becomes a scream
Something you can feel
But never hold
My turbulence
Blowing bitter cold

Only may my tears
Become the clouds

**I want them to rain on you

Your whisper not loud enough
For there are blowing winds
And beating wings
Distance between the mouth and the ear
If what was said is of importance
I'm sorry, my love
I can't hear
Not with these angry cars
And jackhammers
Beating up the streets

Your voice not musical
Not memorable
Not special enough to be heard
When the message sent does matter
And nothings more important
The matter of the fact
There are birds singing
And evil radios
And all matter of interference
Good or bad
There's always something standing in the way

Now you are screaming
Like the wind and the light
Touching four senses
Lacking sense of touch
Its nothing I can feel
Its only the empty hands of ghost
The broken and her fear
The loving and her loss
You can shout at the top of your lungs
All the words that speak your soul
But you'll be shouting into darkness

Magnificent castles
Impenetrable
Fortified as a heart
Who let's not an enemy in
Castle walls
Unscalable
Protection from the world
And all of its pain

The lonely king
Wants nothing more than a queen
To love him
As he honors her
As he showers her with gifts of a kingdom
And as she speaks

These kings defense
Boundaries
Armies and treaties
Sentries in the night on guard
Shields and armor
Impenetrable
Blades and arrows
To strike invaders down

The lonely king
Needs nothing more than a queen
A beautiful love
A glorious empire
As he's ruling by divine right
He puts God on her side

I throw water into the river just to save it from its thirst
The throat of rapids raging I imagined as always parched
The banks of tributaries are always arid in their craving
The conflux only symbolizing lust
I dream the point where rivers meet as always foaming in desire
Burning hot and desperate in their yearning and their want
Longing now to only know and see the deepest ocean
I throw water into to the river trying to save it from itself

And then I quickly drown inside the rain

shadows casting forward
pastel edges
of water colored nebulous scenes
once known

i fuse with deja vu
in its feather-like fringe
i beg for the meaning
of history reliving

perhaps it’s a maze
tho’ previously scripted
funhouse mirrors silently mock
our own carnival

or is it a wink?
the north star is nodding
a slight innuendo
we’re not lost at sea

perchance it’s a hint
it is all an illusion
a glitch in the matrix
the black cat walks by

i grasp for the answer
and peer at the ghostly
parchment paper dream
as it dissolves to thin air
